We are using a mysterious fishing rig that we purchased from wish.com. It is the strangest fishing rig we have ever seen. What do you think? The concept seems legit, a chum bucket with 6 hooks attached? We haven't seen many products like this in America. I wonder why?

We use a very similar rig in Brazil for the Carp. It is called the _Chuveirinho._ One solid center for the dough bait, and 4-5 hooks on the side. Folks also use that rig a lot for Mullet (Tainha). It is a good rig for filter feeders and bottom rovers.

You misunderstand what these are for. They are used mostly for catching asian carp which are filter feeders, the hooks usually remain unbaited and the basket is typically filled with bread.

It is the only way to catch some of those Asian bottom feeders that grind gravel and mud with their lips to suck the goodness from it. You put foam balls on the hooks so they float. As he chommels the breadpot with his lubbas, he just gets stuck on them. Their mouths are down turned, and they feed by slyly sipping on the algae shake they create. Took me ages trying to catch lake monsters in Asia before I was shown this. You won't get them putting bait on a hook. They are incredibly canny about what they eat, and there is no way they swallow chunks. Becomes a whole new waterway once you use one of these. What you thought were the nibbles of shitpickers are absolutely massive fish.

Plus I'm not even sure it this is even legal in the states with the number of hooks.umbrella rigs have that same restricted function here.to be fair though,for general fishing I can see it's use,and id make mine before I'd buy one.its not really a complex unit.i could probably build one with pop bottles lol.the evidence of tangling shows me it's main weak point and that probably can be avoided with anti tangle tubing.or very stiff mono.and adjusting leader length and spacing.

That's a carp rig. You put pack bait inside and put corn (or your carp bait of choice) on the hooks. Not ridiculous at all, it's extremely effective.

Well,we do use corns as carp bait in usual, there are so many species of carps here, so most of time we use corns as bait for common carps and black carps. But for this rig, usually we put wheat bran which mixed many other things(including alcohol) to it to make it as a ball then put hooks inside for sliver carps and bighead carps.

It's actually illegal to fish with that rig in most U.S. states. Maryland in particular you are only allowed two hooks per rig, that's why people who troll umbrella rigs only have one hook on a teaser and one on the chaser.

Hey, sorry for coming to the comments late. I just started fishing last year but this rig is called a fishing bomb in Malaysia, Indonesia, and many more countries in asia. It is used a lot here to catch in ponds, lakes and rivers. The bucket is used to put something to attract the fish by smell. So we use something like turmeric powder in the bucket. Hope this helped. (sorry for bad English cause it is my second language)

that rig, is for a chinese fish called lian yu.(鲢鱼） It usually swollow the water when eating the bait. Thats why that rigs has buch of hooks on the side. Why do i know it? cuz i am from china.

I see where you're coming from, man, and it's a common misconception, but that's usually just a collective term that describes carp indigenous to Asia. That does, of course, include silvers and bigheads, which are pretty difficult to catch under normal circumstances since they just filter plankton, but there are still plenty of species that would snag corn and boilies in an instant (grass and common carp, for example), which is why you'll come to find those same fish are usually referred to as "invasive/nuisance species native to Asia" in Europe and Australia due to their tendency to erode banks with their aggressive bottom-feeding habits.

Best bait in my opinion is mackerel, cut it and add its intestines inside the chum bucket, use small cut pieces on the hooks. Wach the magic! works with frozen and fresh mackerel

This product is ment to be used for carp fishing wtih a floating bait, like tiger nuts. That way the chum dispenser sits on the bottom and the bait floats over head. Products like this one are also very popular in Britain and other European countries. Keep up the good work! Once on a charter boat in the Gulf of Mexico a guy used a device like this when snapper fishing. Some people laughed but when he caught more than them they didn't laugh anymore. I love seeing you test all these products we see online. It's fun to see them used here for the type of fish we normally target. Would love to see you use some of the crazy items to fish for monsters like Snook, Tarpon, or if possible Goliath grouper!

We people in China use this for a fish called bighead carp, wich is a plankton eater and does not eat solid baits. What you do is you put some special powder in the basket and when the bighead comes to suck it up with it's vacuum mouth he also sucks the hooks and you can catch him. Do your research before you fish.

I think they use those mainly to catch plankton feeders? Asian Carp, Mekong Catfish. Probably good for Paddlefish, Sacramento Blackfish, Large Gizzard Shad, Asian Carp, Bighead Carp over here in the States? Interesting rig! I've seen people put grain or bread crumbs in the chum bucket & bait the hooks with corn, peas & salmon eggs for filter feeders before.

actually this wouldn't be too bad if you scaled it up a bit for deep dropping where I live in South Florida out in 450 to 850 FT for Golden tile blue tilefish all the different types of grouper and exotic snappers all of those types of rock fish that are out there and scorpion fish that are very good and tasty. like I said scale it up to put on a LP or other electrical real and make the Chum container about 4 to 5 times bigger and put 8/0 or larger circle hooks on it but let there be like 10 ft of leader so they can actually catch a bunch of fish. We have some spots that you drop down to 450 with a 3 Hook Chicken rig and as soon as it hits bottom you just cranked up and you have fish on all three hooks.

In Europe, it is also used for carp fishing. It is used for the feeder fishing technique. I’m a saltwater fisherman so I don’t know too much about it

I’ve been making a homemade rig similar to that for 30+ years now to catch reef fish and it works. I use a floater to cover the top for shallow areas.

You can't believe it worked any fish is going to bite it because it has shrimp on it all you need is a hook and shrimp and you could have caught a fish

Hey, when I was a kid, fishing from Ventura pier in so. Cal we used a large clamp with 6 hooks. The clamp held the muscle or clam and we put the hooks in the meat part. We would catch 1,2, sometimes 3 fish at a time.
