Indian Motorcycle (or Indian) is an American brand of motorcycles owned and produced by American automotive manufacturer Polaris Inc. Independent operations ended in 1953; resumed operations in 1999 in Gilroy, CA. Purchased by Polaris Industries in 2011.
It's an American brand, the name 'Indian' comes from the short form of 'Red-Indians' who were the native tribes of North America....so, in short they're called 'Indians' in the U.S. and the name of this brand comes directly from the reference. It's not an Indian brand :)
The company is named for the colloquial name for Native Americans, which Christopher Columbus mistakenly called "Indians" , Indian Motorcycles is a American Brand
Indian in this context is refered to Native American Indians (Red Indian). I bet the whatsApp university is flaunting that this is made in India by Indians.
Let me be very very honest, buying a higher cc bikes like a 800cc or 1000 cc bikes in India is just stupid and not worth it,650 cc is more than enough and 500 cc bikes are just the best choice but 350 cc are also good , buying harlay or Indian are just stupid and not value for money, Enfield , ktm , Bajaj are really good infact better even Honda is a good choice. So don’t waste money and buy Indian bikes.

Do not spread misinformation. In those times India was very rich with business trade transactions and all Europeans wanted to explore India with their ancient navigation methods and reached Americas instead. They did not call them Indians because they looked like Indians (they are infact mongloid race) they called them Indians because they thought they reached Indian shores.
