This will be a fun build. I'm glad to see companies are starting to reach out to you guys. I can't wait to see your real-time review and thoughts on a companies first venture into bike making feels like.
Yes, I do like 180/160 brake combo!Wolfman is right about the pedals, why give good ones with the bike when everyone is going to change them anyway. That fork is not bad just heavy.
Those walkers make a great seat! I’ve spent way to much time on mine over the past years!! Nice to see these companies starting to put better components on their bikes! Send it Tick🤘
Sorry i haven't been able to post on your videos recently guys ... season here is back finally!!! Tick/Wolf your two's work has earned you the opportunity review the 'Head' you got from Cycle works. Must of been that time Tick ate the goop he found on the trail (and it's review). Now get your mind out the gutter and go ride that thing!
Yeah definitely, any budget bike that comes with a cassette and quick release out of the box is just THAT MUCH more worth it. Saves a lot of time and money in the long run. I think that's one thing that should be standard on every budget bike from now on, cause it really is way better for upgrading your drivetrain, and all the options that are available. Again, great video guys, excited to see the first ride! It's been a minute since I've commented, but still watch all of your stuff! Keep it up
Nice Nice see ya as always brother, thanks for the comment and yes, totally needs to be the norm when it comes to budget bikes! We will see ya next week man🤘
I like the flat black. Hopefully they offer more decal colors soon. Would like it in red on black! Also can’t wait to see what you guys put it through stock and upgraded. There e-bike looks sick also
Thanks for the comment man, some color options would be nice, you need to look at there Berm, thay bike looks sweet as well. Thanks and we will see you next week man👍
I was definitely gettin some Aggressor Pro vibes here. Since I had the Matte Black version I could really see the similarities. Lookin forward to the real time review.
when I worked at target I remember seeing a box of tennis rackes from head that said something like "The Pros Play with Head" and I thought that was hilarious 🤣
🤣🤣😂 Sgt Slaughter!! LOL We were waiting for someone to mention the pic! It's actually a picture of my brother when he was getting into his fight career, circa 2006?? 🤣🤣
Nice looking bike. Not sure if it is an American bike, but that would be great if it was. Loved it that you make do w filming location at Grandmas. I think you need to do some upgrades to grandma's walker !!! 🤪 That would be a great episode.
A friend picked up one of theese at a local bike shop yesterday for her 11 yr old son. They met us at a brewery down the street from the LBS. Took the bike for a spin, wouldnt shift smoothly onto the big ring. Took it backbto the shop twice. Same problem. Was told its a mtb, it shifts differently than your road bike. And it is a lower end bike. Thought that was crappy of them. Other than the shifting issue, seems like a nice bike
Man hate to hear that and hopefully the problem will and can be fixed. The shifting is not an issue but the realtime review comes out tomorrow! Hope to see you there, thanks for the comment and the review Jason.
Another fantastic episode out on location.. I could smell that episode.. hahaha hahaha. Cookie's and muscle cream.. hahaha hahaha. That bike looks like the Trek my lady has.. looking forward to the test ride. Stay frosty brother
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh my god!! Laughing outlook in wally world brother!! HA HA Now so happy you enjoyed it and you stay classy POE! Also thank you for the Coffees earlier man, I really means a lot to the both of us.
Grumpy old man here. I'll be happy when entry-level bikes come standard with cassettes, tapered headsets, and thru axle or boost hubs. The tech has been around long enough, it shouldn't be so much a price issue. I wonder if Head will introduce a carbon bike frame soon being they're a tennis racquet company
Wow my mother-in-law favorite tennis rackets are made by head. Nice looking entry level mtb that could be a winner. Time will tell and checking out the website using your coupon code, you still couldn't get a GT Aggressor for that price unless it's 2018. Great video gents as always continue to stay blessed and safe.
I saw a Head dirt jump bike up close once. but not much pictures of them online. they had steel dirt jump bikes in the past. Head was no a common brand in Norway. only saw that DJ bike at a local school yard.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I know what you mean. My snow tubing slot got cancelled at the last minute last Saturday due to high wind and heavy snow. We celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary with our kids in the NC mountains last weekend.
I bet the rear tire just needs to be inflated. A lot of bikes are shipped without the tires being inflated, or the slowly deflate from when they are assembled in the factory. Otherwise cool bike! Really digging the flat black with blue, and good features for the price I'd say. Thanks for the review WT!!!!!
good looking bike. The Microshift 26 was on the GT Aggressor Pro. I loved the trigger shifter, although it was different from this one. One thing I miss with my Box 4 shifter is the little indicator window showing what gear I'm in lol.
My aggressor came with a shimano Altus/alterra mixed groupset. I guess that changed with the years haha I have replaced everything on it except the seatpost and clamp haha (working on building a wheelset with Koozer hubs) cant wait to get my spokes and start the build process!
my only gripe about this bike vs the GT is the exposed shifter and brake cable running down the top tube and bottom tube. It's just more points of entry for contaminants to gum up the operation
Hey guys great vid. Have you ever done a video on a couple frames I own Minnesota Framed bikes? That frame you are doing right now looks almost actually like my Framed Alaskan except mine is a fatbike.
Hey Shawn, we have not done a framed bike yet. We own a small fat tire frame, frame but have not invested anything into it yet. Seems pretty good quality though...
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I own 2 frames an Alaskan and Minnesota 2.0 both are fatbikes. I'm currently building an enduro 72v 5000W Ebike ,having a hard time getting a set of double tree "quality" forks. I just ordered a set hoping they get shipped due to all that lockdown BS going on in China.
Great looking bike hope it rides as good as it looks like the paint work matt black very nice don't forget to put so e air in the tyre's lol hope you have a good time on it say hello to grandma from the wolf tick nation
Don't get grease on grandma's carpet. Trick to weigh bike. Get on a regular house scale and log your weight, pick up the bike and weigh yourself again while holding it, subtract your original weight. That bike looks sharp, but the Schwinn's still have that tapered head tube at various price points.
🤣🤣 Did not! LOL Now good idea but we want a straight up across the board weight for all bikes, you know how it is! Everyone would be chiming in if not🤣🤣 And gotcha on the Schwimmer stuff, but let's look at it vs the GT?????
I know this bike was built for light riding, but I would have thought a tapered head tube, allowing more options for fork upgrades. The tapered head tube is becoming the new standard even on "entry level" bikes. Good looking color scheme, reminds me of the color scheme on another bike.
Good looking colors. I'd say stock to stock (without seeing the real-time stock review) they are VERY similar except for the 180mm up front haha. I wonder how the geometry matches up.
Well as far as the headline angle both 69 but man let's see were this thing takes us!! Peacout Travis and appreciate your comments and views as always🤘
same price as the marlin 4 without the discount at 599$, but you get a freehub and seperate brake and shifter lever. Would be nice to see a 2x instead of the 3x. standover height seems a bit on the high side.
Thay would be an interesting option, 2x.......But I hope it feels good on the ride considering the standover was not all that great. Thanks for the comment and hope to see ya next week👍👍👍
I got a new bike it was used and this thing is sick it is my dream bike I saved up for so long and got it 4 weeks later I sent some huge stairs and cracked a wheld
TBH, mongoose and schwinn and set the standard for entry-level bikes with more modern geo and Tapered head tubes. Geometry is free. It makes sense if you build a bike that can be upgraded better and handle faster terrain with upgrades, it would have more appeal. 😎
Well it does have the more desirable seat tube size and we think it's got a 44mm headtube, so that means we could run a Cain Creek headset. This puts it in sort of another category. The Ardor has better geo, but 27.2 seatpost and a freewheel. The Axum has better geo, but it's only got two sizes and it's a 29er. Don't you just love having options haha. It's a good time being a budget bike enthusiasts, don't you think 😀👍👍.
I bought a cheap flat bar road bike from Aliexpress that included Repute disc brakes and they were garbage. I felt they were unsafe for the road and immediately swapped them out. I would definitely ditch them on an off-road bike.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS That may open up an opportunity with a tapered fork I believe? If so? Bonus! But they have all kinds of bikes. I vaguely remember Head doing road race bikes many years ago.
I'd say the aggressor is still a more capable bike however this bike definitely looks solid and cheaper than a marlin 5 although I think all Marlins come with hydros Paint is nice and parts are plenty good enough for a dual sport bike for paved paths or green trails
The only thing I would say that the GT has over this on paper would be the brakes. This bike has the favored seatpost size and a better headtube size(we think)it's pretty much equal after that. Heck, rightnow it beats the GT by a mile in price if you use the #wolfticknation discount. We will see if the frame is in the same league as the GT once the ice melts off. Thanks man👍
Not a fan of the bike for that price, I would rather try the used market. Especially if you're gonna upgrade. Just my opinion, great vid none the less boys!
I got the bike and took it into a local bike shop, rotors were bent on the front and back. We spent an hour getting the brakes to an okay spot and adjusting the derailleur. With the setup the way it is I don't think I could emergency stop myself. Did you have any issues with stopping? Would you recommend changing the break pads, changing to different pistons or outright upgrading to a hydraulic? If so which one should I go for? Thanks
Man that's a bummer but so glad you got it looked at and it now is good to go. So let's talk brakes, without going overbudget and having to deal with oil and cutting I would do myself a favor and look at these, thanks for asking brother. Good luck and here is an affiliate link. These are bolt on pretty much, hydraulic power without the mess amzn.to/3LIJwbg
amzn.to/3LIJwbg Hey brother here is an affiliate link to what i would do, good luck and thank you for asking. Hydraulic brakes that are bolt on without the mess!! LOL 😉 Glad you got the bike going brother, let us know how it goes!!
A GT video would not be bad!🤣🤣 But man it fits a 12spd believe it or not. You should be fine with whatever as far as spacing goes. You will of course need need new derailleur though.
I liked the way it was packed up, was it in 2 or 3 boxes? It's a nice color combo and nice of them to give the #nation 20% off. No Wolfman dyno? That's about as close to the Tick's toes that I ever want to be lol. 😂
😂😂😂 Man it was 2 boxes, we had to swap it around tho. Also the toes comment!! LOL FUNNY AS HELL MAN! Not a bad entry bike with the nation's coupon! Thanks SLOTHSQUATCH!!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Ahh, a little bit of special effects I got it! Hahahaha, dem toes in the shag carpet 😂. No it looks like it could be a decent one considering the components it came with allowing us to upgrade over time. Lol Slothsquatch it is!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS not sure...I do not feel "high heels" would be very safe though. BTW, I rarely go to bed that early. How about I give you a wake up call when I wake up next week???? 😄
Honestly, I'm one of those people who thinks internal routing is a scam. It makes for a bigger maintenance headache, and it doesn't achieve any actual protection or aesthetic goal that couldn't be achieved with a removable shroud (the Giant Roam series used to do exactly this).
Would you recommend me getting this one with the discount instead of waiting for the Axum to be on stock? Not know much about components and stuff but both seem like a good deal! Also I'm 5'9 - almost 5'10 do you recommend the medium or large
Hey brother now, we do not recommend stuff but it kinda depends on your riding style. If you ride more cross country and do not plan on jumping a whole lot, this may be your bike. I would purchase if I were gonna ride around town or on some medium trails, especially since it's a 3x8. Now if you plan on jumping and some downhill madness wait till the Axum is in stock, it has a few features that really are geared towards a more upgradeable platform. But you may be waiting awhile?? If you are going to go with head, get a size Large it should fit you well. Thanks and hope this helps, let us know what you endup doing brother.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS yeah I think that'd be cool you know if you add it to all your videos when you do like the rims and and tells how many gauge the spokes are I think I think that would help with a lot of people ❤️ do I know they make like all the way down to 12 gauge 14 gauge 10 gauge and 11 gauge spoke so I mean some people don't know what the difference is the gauge the spokes are if I explaining that to him get help them pick the right wheel for their bike also you guys do awesome videos ❤️🐺
Hey guys I get excited sometimes and when I'm drinking all bets are off🤣. Son, since when are my Margaritas non-alcoholic? I had a splash of mix and a bunch of Tequila. NON-ALCOHOLIC 🐂💩🤣
Man if I were going to order this bike again, just to be safe I would go with a M again, but I could see a small fitting just fine and being playful like you stated. I would like like see a small.
I like the bike, but I think at 600 dollars it’s a little much, I think 480 is a way better and I’m wondering why they don’t just sell it at 500 or something like that if they have it in the budget to go lower with your coupon code
Good points. I'm thinking it is priced to compare and compete against the GT Aggressor Pro since it is so similar in specs, features, and geo. We can't wait to get it out on the trails after this ice melts.
At that price it should have a Shimano Altus or maybe Alivio group set and Tektro mechanical breaks. I like the look, but I think it is a bit over priced.
Ohh that's a nice looking bike, I like the blue on black but...... Doesn't ship to the UK ☹️ Now, I'd like to talk about the photo in the background at Grandma's house. It looks suspiciously like a young Jeremiah in a cowboy hat! Please tell its true and if so, the nation needs to see it 😂😂😂 Hope the ice storm doesn't cause you too much grief, take care gents 🍺😎👍
Man that's a bummer! LOL The bike is sweet man, cannot wait to ride this puppy down the Cats Meow!!! Also not me:( The pic is of my older brother when he started his fight career! Cmon man, if that was me you would of seen it😂😂🤘
Call me spoiled but at the $400+ price point. Even Walmart bikes have a tapered head tube.... a cassette is nice and all but wheels can be replaced. The head tube can't.
True. But there is the Cain Creek headset option and it's a lot cheaper that a wheelset or even just the rear wheel. It's also a lot easier to get headsets over wheelsets. On this bike a 120mm RockShox Judy would be just what it needs and it comes in straight steerer tube. Thanks man, it's always fun to get opinions and talk options.👍👍
🤣 No shag carpet was harmed in the filming of this episode🤣. Well for the #wolfticknation price of $480 we are pretty excited about it. I'm not sure about $599 though. I really think this is going up against the GT and entry level lbs bikes. We will know more soon when the ice melts and we can start riding. Thanks Jamie for the support👍.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS we got a heck of an ice storm here yesterday too. i am excited about spring this year. we have had a legit winter. have fun at grandmas house if your still there!
We love our Axum DP but some are not crazy about 29ers. This bike has more frame sizes for those who need them as well. Either way, the more bike choices the better.
The brakes are fine for the type of riding that will be done with this bike. You guys are talking about a cheapo bike that is for general trail riding, not downhill speed riding and jumping.
Well welcome to Wolftick Videos where we put stuff through things that they aren't intended for. You might watch the Realtime Review of this bike, spoiler alert, the brakes performed well. Thanks for watching.
