Heya! I'm finally compiling my thoughts on the Kuretake Bimoji Brush Pen (fine), after some of you in the comments have been asking about it. Thank you for the video suggestion! While this video is somewhat an art supply review, it is based on my initial thoughts and impressions after using the bimoji brush pen for almost two months. I have been using it for brush pen drawings, ink line and watercolour illustrations, and sketching in my sketchbooks. The Kuretake Bimoji Brush Pen comes in a few brush tip types and sizes. Most are felt brush tips, and one of the larger sizes is a real brush tip. The ink is waterproof and copic proof, and have been holding up to both in my experience so far!
In the video I talk about my experiences using the bimoji brush pen so far and cover the following points:
- how durable the felt brush tip has been, especially since it was used heavily on cotton watercolour paper which tends to wear down pens quickly
- what the line variation is like, with examples and comparisons
- how thin of a line it can produce, and how easily it produces one
- the longevity of the ink (to be determined with further use)
- the intensity of the black pigment on the paper types I use most frequently
- whether the ink transfers or bleeds on the paper types I use most frequently
I forgot to cover it in the video but the ink also doesn't feather on any of the loose or sketchbook papers I use. Yay!
Have you used this pen before? Leave your experiences in the comments! It's interesting to me, and helpful for other people coming across this video. Also remember that you don't have to use a specific kind of art supply to be an amazing artist. They are all just tools in the end.
