I've been eye balling those samples for some time just because they are more perfect than a dotcard, and yes, big dots too. Of course being in Belgium the customs are keeping me from buying them (and the fact that I already have tooooo many WC paints) So: great to see you swatching these.
Thank you for sharing the swatches 😊 I can't wait for part 2! Unfortunately I can't get their paint from where so I really enjoy watching artists swatch or review their paint 🥰
What a lovely video. I’m new to watercolours (coming over from gouache), wishing I’d seen this before I ordered some colours recently, love the choice of primaries especially as they are non-granulating. Saved for future reference. Thank you 😊
Da Vinci is my favorite paint brand! I love how easy it is to control, how pigmented they are, how well they dry in a pan and reactivate, how affordable they are, and just how easy it is to obtain them (I live in the US). And they go on sale a few times a year so you can really get the most bang for your buck!
Thank you for sharing your experience! The quality for the price was a big drawing point to me, especially for an eventual move to the US. I'm loving them so far!
They now also have books with completely white paper, I think it depends on the cover. The special covers like the cork one all have the white paper. Edit: just realized someone already mentioned it. 😊
Love a good palette setup video. It was very interesting to hear why you chose your colors, especially the two Viridians. It's indeed rare to see both in one palette, but it makes sense considering their properties. :) Thank you for the video!
I wasn't sure at first if I would need both of them, but in practice I found that I do reach for both depending on the properties I need! Thank you for watching 💜
Speaking of indanthrene blue, I heard Daniel smith's version is more violet leaning than the regular pigment. Your palette looks well loved 🥰 I hope you enjoy your trip 🌺
It's noticeably violet leaning imo, but also more muted than others. Thank you! 💜 It's been super busy but hopefully I'll get some time to paint soon haha
Awesome tips! It's how I learn everything. Go through the material for orientation and next steps will be note taking and applying. Worked well in university and in art too. Love your eagle sketches!
It's 140 gsm, which is on the thicker end of dry-media sketchbooks. Moleskine art sketchbooks are slightly thicker at 165 GSM for comparison. If you want thick paper like mixed media or watercolour paper though, this will seem thin for you.
Really helpful examples. I’ve never used a paper as good as this with paper stump tortilions. It smudges so smoothly and evenly and finely it’s like heaven. I only just started smudging lately with some pencil work for effect or speed and this paper is a joy with it.
@@daenafae Then you could make it a mini series! Like once a month or so! :) I bet it's nice to see which books are inspiring and which ones we could benefit from.
I'm amazed by your skill! Those lines are so perfectly put. It was great to see that you switched from micron to brush pen and back depending on the lines you needed. The coloring is as always on point. I love your characters so much! Thanks for sharing!
Angle the pen if you want a thicker line. It makes far far thicker lines than you realize for your drawing pleasure 😊. And you don't need to press down hard if you angle the pen; in the manner like you're putting a shadow under a window sill. Good review!
Another wonderful sketch. I already wondered about the pencils you've used. The colors work so nicely together. Can't wait to hear more about this half elf too. What is he up to? (And I can only recommend to continure with act 3 in BG... it's the best. All the stories unravel!) Thank you for this great video :)
Polychromos has some lovely earth tones, and sketching with these is making other colours too tempting! He should be appearing again soon, hopefully with a name 😂 Act 3 has been fun so far, with some fey warlock specific things which was a nice surprise!
Love this sketch. It's so different to see it actually be painted. Your strokes are so soft, it's a joy to watch! I like using colored pencils for sketching sometimes and most of the erasables behave well with water. Only the Pilot Eno leads would dissolve, which can be used the same way as watersoluble graphite. :)
@@daenafae Maybe? I only found this out a few weeks ago too. The others I have are Staedler Erasables, Prismacolor Col-erase and Koh-I-Noor color leads and all are fine. :) Hope this helps others to choose.
This was fun to watch! Love seeing what people pack for their travel art supplies. Also question! What is the brand for your travel set of brushes? Those look really neat and I’m looking for something like that.
This is making me want to set up a smaller palette :3 Honestly I don't like Arches because of how thirsty and textured it is. My preference is Langton Prestige Rough or cold pressed.
omg, that sounds like your teacher was super abusive. I'm so sorry you had that experience. I thought my teacher was bad but yours was just cruel. Your art is so beautiful and I'm glad you kept being creative.
Thank you Lana 💜 I'm currently testing out using colour pencils for the lineart as well as hatching, then adding washes of watercolour. I'll share some of the results eventually!
