Hi dear. 68yo Army (BTS fan) here. The National Basketball Association chose Suga to be their global brand ambassador because of his love for basketball ( his name Suga came from his from his favorite badketball position...shooting guard).
Haegum is actually a part of his trilogy. This order is based on the time he released each, first is Daechwita, then Haegum and last Amygdala. But I'd say Amygdala is the prequel in this trilogy. Suga plays both protagonist and antagonist in the first 2 MV's. He's basically dealing/battling with his different personas. The last song Amygdala is the past trauma he has been through his life. It's extremely raw and he is open about his struggles. I'd recommend watching the other two for better understanding. Amygdala is the one that had me bawling my eyes out, because most ARMYs know his past struggles. I hope you can also get to react to his other songs, few of my personal favorites from the past, from him are Agust D - Agust D, People, Interlude : Shadow, Seesaw and Life Goes On from his latest album D-DAY
Haegeum in this song also makes use of the second meaning of the word - lifting of a ban or something forbidden. SUGA is a brand ambassador for the NBA. He was making appearances for them, and he also has a merch line with them.
Suga was a keen basketball player, obviously lacking a little height, but made time to attend matches as much as possible. They (NBA) made him an honorary ambassador. His stage name is derived from shooting guard "zhu-ga", his favourite position. He is a rapper, producer and songwriter.
Suga is my bias in BTS although I love them all😂 The whole album D-Day is such a banger from start to finish, hope you react to more of his songs 🔥🔥🔥 💜💜💜
Yeah, the BTS rap line (RM, SUGA, & J-Hope) don't come to play. They spit mad! There is always a message in their raps, too. You may want to check out their Cyphers 1-4. It's to their haters, and YIKES! Cypher 1 is not my favorite, but 2-4 are fire 🔥. You can hear their progression as rappers with each one. If you can, watch the live performance of the Cyphers with ENG Subs. 💜
I love seeing you smile and enjoy the song and appreciate the lyrics. Great reaction. "Haegeum" is the second part of a trilogy by Agust D. The first song is "Daechwita", and the third song is "Amygdala". Watching them in order will give you a complete story. Social commentary/criticism is a common theme in BTS's discography, both as a group and as solo artists. Speaking of J. Cole, he was featured on J-hope's song called "On the Street". BTS also has a song called "Born Singer", which is a remake of J. Cole's song "Born Sinner".
Highly recommend you those others solos songs of the 3 rappers that i feel like will suit your tastes : RM: Joke , Persona Suga: Agust d , Daechwita J-hope: Hangsang , Arson Plus if you want to know more about the rappers i suggest you to react to the cyphers 1-4 you'll see the potential of all of em in one song. Great reactions keep up :)
if you can maybe react twice especially to songs like this. once for the visuals/sound and again for the lyrics because you missed most of the lyrics watching the video and you need both the visuals and the lyrics to understand this song. hes talking about freeing whats forbidden that can be in the industry or it can be in general in life. but a key point is he kills the corrupt cop at the end which represents greed thats why he burns the money. hes speaking very deeply about corruption of those in power which bts have spoken a lot about in the past. but hes also telling everyone to get on board and fight for real freedom not just self indulgence through greed.
*Meanings for the song titles for Suga aka Agust D's Trilogy:* *Daechwita* - is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while the ARMY is marching or as a static performance usually when the King is arriving. (Suga aka Agust D meant the BTS ARMY to be implied.) *Haegeum* - has two meanings. The first, it's a traditional Korean string instrument, resembling a vertical fiddle with two strings, usually played at Royal Court. Also, it means to lift a ban, or release what is forbidden. *Amygdala* - is an almond shaped part of our brain which is commonly thought to form the core of a neural system for processing fearful and threatening stimuli, including detection of threat and activation of our fight or flight response. The amygdala helps to store memories of events and emotions so that an individual may be able to recognize similar events in the future. Agust D - Amygdala (turn on CC's) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IX1dkYoLHVs.html He's the NBA Ambassador, and he has a clothing line also. When SUGA attends a basketball game, they sell out tickets and the media is off the charts, so it makes sense that they would make him an NBA ambassador. He used to play as a teenager, and he loves basketball. His Stage Name is also related to basketball. Shooting Guard - SUGA - Shoo-Ga. That's how his stage name was created. And AGUST D is his name SUGA backward Plus DT for his hometown, and his underground rap crew's name DAEGU TOWN. AGUST D - D TSUGA Maybe you will have better luck with this Interview below. CC's aren't needed because they are automatically added to the screen. SUGA aka Agust D interview with Serious XM - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ewLjTjBMQew.html
Suga isn’t just an amazing rapper he was the solo writer producer etc on this track. On older tracks of his he’s often the mixing engineer too. He’s a serious musical prodigy. Plus he writes the story boards for his MVs which are like movies. We wish he’d go do a movie.
You need to listen to Suga's song Daechwita, It's my favorite song of his. And this song right now is really crazy. Suga is good in all his compositions. What a producer my people, What a producer 🔥👏🏻💜
Other bts rap to check out- the cyphers (particularly 2,3,4) and ugh. Suga has lots of amazing tracks and i would recommend checking out some jhope- more and arson from his latest album.
Hey , no he is not part of the nba lol but he was chosen to be an ambassador because he loves American basketball and attends many of the games .. he is 2 short to be a basketball player , nba guys are like minimum 1.85 ? Suga aka agustd is 1.75.. he is one of bts rappers and he is a producer and songwriter aswell . He was an underground rapper in South Korea before joining bighit entertainment at the age of 17 and became part of the kpop group bts as one of the 3 rappers.. he is fckn good yes .. haegeum has two meanings 1) traditional musical instrumental and 2) lifting of a ban / oppressed law or policy or freedom from strict rules .. in South Korea there are extreme laws , being a kpop idols comes with strict policies . Him smoking in the video is a huge deal because in Korea , a kpop idol that smokes or has a gf or bf or is caught doing drugs can be the end of their career . You can hear the korean musical instrumental in the sound of the song but the lyrics is about how fckd the world is ,how freedom is just another form of oppression in many ways and how ppl fight for ridiculous things under the guise of freedom but in doing so , oppressing common sense has become the norm .. how people in power are corrupt and how corruption is a cycle . U fight to get to the top and fight against the corruption and can end up being corrupt when u on top . So much information about worldly news floods the media and RU-vid and all of social media and truth is more likely buried underneath all the garbage that the media floods us with .. he is very deep with his lyrics but due to restrictions he can’t express who exactly is talking bout but we know that the american music industry ppl , particularly billboards corporate head , Spotify management , grammy people intentionally set out to taint BTs and screw them over , they learned a very heart breaking and eye opening lesson about the music industry in the last 3 years . The evils of the industry , the evils of the global media and even in their own country , the hierarchy and corruption of politics and corporations .. it’s been a huge awakening for these men who were normal teens who thought hard work coupled with their talent is enough but as their popularity grew and more particularly their popularity in the west since 2019/2020/21 , was particularly hard lessons of corruption they had to realise and face regarding the industry . The innocent blinkers they had on , was rudely and cruelly lifted ..
He's global ambassador to the NBA, he would always attend games when he's in the US and has a love for the sport and the NBA noticed. He's currently serving in the military now though.
If things had gone a little different and his passion for music hadn't been this big (and his shoulder injury maybe) he may have actually had become a professional basketball player. It was a possiblity.
BTS, whether as a group or solo, never make the same song twice. When you go through their albums, you will find that they love to experiment with styles and genres. This is why their fanbase is so big, there is literally something for everyone. I got into BTS through their rap and have never looked back. You should try RM's track MONSTER. It is an older solo but I love it for the real hip hop vibe. And then his newer track CLOSER is total R & B. Once you hear these, you can see the influence RM has had in BTS through his lyrics and musicality.💜
Yeah so he's definitely socially conscious, but the whole group is. They have always pushed the envelope and sang about unpopular topics especially in south korea its kinda taboo.
