This album is perfection, really, it still amazes me that she made this right after another such iconic album as Homogenic, which is kind of the opposite of Vespertine by the way. Homogenic has a more energetic vibe, it feels powerful and wild, Björk defines it as more outgoing. On the other hand, Vespertine is more introverted, intimate and calm, it conveys that comfort of domesticity, I don't know if I'm explaining myself well. But my point is, how can someone make two albums in a row so different from each other and at the same time so perfect? That's Björk, impossible not to fall in love with her. As for the meaning of the songs, don't feel bad for not understanding everything perfectly, I don't either, besides english is not my native language. Though it has helped me to see analyses, documentaries and in fact a podcast that Björk is now releasing. Beyond all that, I think that the feeling that her music conveys is more than enough ❤️ I hope you react to Post (Army Of Me is here) and Homogenic.
Im going to recommend that you start in Chronological order. Her evolution is better appreciated . I forgot to mention that, this album was inspired by her new relationship with Matthew Barney , whom she eventually married and had a Daughter with. They eventually divorced in the early 2010s, which then inspired her Heartbreak Album (Vulnicura) 2014 if not mistaken,
So... I love this album so much and hadn't found anyone who enjoys Frosti as much as me, but you clearly do!! It is such a perfect little instrumental.
Fun reaction! Love how you lean into the music! The 9th track, Sun In My Mouth, has an incredible rearrangement released as a b-side to the single Cocoon. It’s called Sun In My Mouth-Recomposed By Ensemble and I think it’s better than the original. Check it out, think you’ll love it! The great thing about Björk is that, for all her albums, there are various b-sides and rearrangements for a lot of the songs, so much to discover! 🙌

in terms of a next bjork album i’d recommend either post or homogenic. both are incredible but homogenic is definitely more on the weird side than post or vespertine
