This is a great lesson for any father that is having a strained relationship with his children. The pain you feel when you aren’t close to your kids is immeasurable. Making the effort to change things will allow you to get to a mutual place of forgiveness.
don't forget these other folks who contributed to what we got to watch: FOX tv station for making this nationwide and some other countries! PLUS RERUNS! LIGHTING company that i keep forgeting their name!! SOUND company and technology company for big screens. MUSIC played all day that those attending said they enjoyed. LAW ENFORCEMENT of IOWA state patrol, county sheriff's depts. and local police for traffic control for parking, etc. those growing/caring for the GRASS that the players, kevin, and others talked about. the FIREWORKS COMPANY that surprised many folks like myself! great ending. and all the behind the scenes folks who designed the entire thing, BUILT it all, etc. LANSING family who kept the field as is. then when the heavy rains & HIGH winds came knocking down many corn stalks, he bought 1100 metal stakes to stand up the downed corn stalks taking almost 2 days to do! everything was well thought out and implemented down to the smallest things like the extra bales of hay/benches to sit down and rest walking all over the place plus the LIGHTED corn stalks after the game to get from stadium to field of dreams field walking to their cars. I have so much respect for everyone that made this happen. Beautiful, brilliant....a very special moment in both sports and the legacy Kevin is creating.
Have lost interest in MLB over the years for a variety of reasons, but tuned in to see this game as one who loves the movie, "Field of Dreams". Have to admit the powers that be hit a grand slam, this was a great thing to watch just when this country needs something uplifting. Mr. Costner, thank you for doing this movie and the feeling all sons have about their departed father, just to have one more catch.

I do not think Valentena knows what you meant by color commentary. Oops! Valentena, it means doing the announcing that is not the play by play announcing during the game! It is the announcer who gives the extra info, extra stats, etc. A lot of times it is a former player or someone like that in the broadcast booth doing color commentary.
Could you imagine if Ray Liotta came out in his uniform from the movie and said it was you Kevin, then the guy that played his dad walked out and asked Kevin if he would like to have a catch?

Considering his age, he could've been in a wheelchair - pushed by Ray Liotta. With JEJ dressed as in the movie, but Liotta in casual clothes. Could've turned to Liotta & said "How the hell long has it been, Ray?" as if Terrance Mann speaking to Ray Kinsella. Then recited his speech as the players emerge from the corn.
I lost my dad when I was 2 and he was a pretty good player in HS and when I saw this movie, I thought it was made for people like me. Maybe I should go visit a baseball field in Iowa.

it had been in the media that kevin WOULD throw out the 1st pitch. then when we saw his movie dad, john, there ... we speculated that "ray" would be throwing this 1st pitch to his dad, "john"! didn't happen. might have earlier on field of dreams field. kevin brought wife & most of his family including his oldest son & 3 youngest from his current wife. betty gordon, ames, iowa proud :)

i must say field of dreams played here on tv in the past few days, first time i had seen it since it came out....it was like you could not walk away from watching it ,,,, and yes chills at the end loved every minute

Kevin Costner was a baseball icon even though he was not a player much like Sylvester Stallone was for boxing. There silven screen portrayal meant so much for baseball and boxing.
@BKK it was replayed twice that i'm aware of! i came across it again after the original game when channel surfing. then the next night, it was on at 9 pm, but i couldn't find the right channel for 30-45 minutes.
Finally found the quote of his comment & the context he used it. Was after the Astros investigation, and the quote was "The idea of an asterisk or asking for a piece of metal back seems like a futile act." In that usage & at that time, he's right & it's no big deal. Like any trophy, during the competition it is special, a sought after reward of success. But afterwards it's just a relic, a symbol of past achievement . If the "win" is later overturned or denied, the item itself has no meaning & really IS just a meaningless hunk of metal.
i saw him interviewed briefly. i did not hear that at all. i did hear ray lotta/shoeless joe jackson talk where he has NEVER seen the full movie on big screen. ray said his mom died while he was filming GOODFELLAS. his mom went to him to premier of FIELD OF DREAMS but got sick there. so they left with him taking her to the hospital. so he has never seen it to date! young burt lancaster man was there talking in another video. he was saying none of cast could leave for any reason since they never knew what scene they would do next. they stated when driving back to dubuque to hotel/motels, they were seeing the beautiful iowa sunsets. so they decided to go back to field of dreams and film. they got ray lotta out of a bar to do the last one, "IS THIS HEAVEN"? @@bettygordon3773 you are correct in what you have written. I used to watch a TV station that would show the movies and the commentators for the movie viewing shared the behind the scenes stories. That one story about the young man playing the part of the dad stuck with me for years. Everytime I see the movie, I can see his grief.

I understand that the press needs their time for post game interviews but it would been super if they would've had the players exit into corn and then do interviews.
