How does an Operating System become more inclusive?

There's nothing here to tempt a Gnome user but I do have a few things in its defence. Firstly, after setting the permissions for File Roller, which is an archiver (zip, tar, etc), you tested it with the File Manager, which is a different app. Second, it looks like the email app is Geary, which is also the default in Fedora. I use it, and other than a few things which I have to use a web app for (eg. creating labels and removing a draft email without deleting the entire conversation), it's fine. Gnome Software has the same information as that installation confirmation dialog (app size, permissions and its code not being reviewed), but it's placed above the description of the app instead of forcing an extra few clicks on the user. They should have copied Gnome (they've earned it!).

I just tried it in a VM. Very crisp and nice, beautiful wallpapers. A little too simple for me though and flatpaks aren't terribly well integrated.

Does Wingpanel have hiding functionality for maximized windows yet?

I am trying this out on my spare laptop. It's is also the Pantheon desktop and while it looks very nice the problem is as you say there are not a lot of customisation options. Also some settings that should be there are not there. The terminal has no menu bar and there is no option to enable it. Some other terminal do not have the menu bar on start up but you can just right click to enable it and it's there but not with this terminal Also the option to disable or reduce the number of workspaces is not there either. There is no menu bar or in the file manager and no option to open files as Root unless you run a command. The App Center is not very good either as most of the software is missing and most of the desktop depends of Flatpak. So if you want to remove Flatpak you can't or it will break most of the system. Yes there is a start menu on the top panel and yes you can change the display the menu items as a list which is how the KDE , Xfce and Linux Mint menus are. And you can search in the menu bar for items and find them. But the appearance and settings as well as the system is not going to help new Windows users who are coming over from Linux as they won't see anything familiar. I don't like the Plank dock and while it looks better on Elementary than what is does on Budgie Desktop because there is no bottom panel. Again you cannot change the size of it to make it look like a taskbar. Also the top panel and start menu cannot be moved to the bottom or the side of the screen. While I do like the notification sound it has when you have an update and open other apps is still not the full desktop experience you get with KDE or Xfce or other main desktops. There is also not option to add icons or folders on the desktop and the change the icons or theme you have to install Elementary Tweaks. And that is not even in the package manager you have to add the repository. So any new user is not going to know this. A lot of the software from Gnome works on Elementary which seems to have quite a bit from Gnome but again there is no system monitor or task manager. Though you can install Gnome system monitor but you should have to it should come with that. With Gnome although it looks a bit like Windows 8 at first glance you can at least customise Gnome buy adding the applications menu or dash to Panel and Arc menu in Gnome Extensions. The Pantheon desktop has no such thing and it could be a good desktop if only they would add the options in as they have done on Gnome and other desktops. Or better still get rid of the customisation and settings restrictions altogether. So no I will never run this as my main OS there are other Linux desktops that are better. My advice is forget it. If you want a change from the Mate or KDE desktop use Ubuntu Unity desktop. At least with that you get a full and better desktop experience. It's based on Gnome so you can add settings and software from Gnome and all of it will work with it. You cannot with Pantheon.

It needs configuration to be usable. I replaced App Center with GNOME Software, Pantheon Files with Nemo, Pantheon Terminal with GNOME Terminal and Epiphany Web with Google Chrome. I installed Pantheon Tweaks to allow me to customise the theme, icons and cursors. 😊

Watching you in Brave browser...on Elementary 7.1. I like this distro since I SUCK at customizing Gnome or KDE to look like macOS. 😆🤣 Updates are remarkably...mysterious(?). It seems to have settled down after a month or so of use. I'm not a demanding user, so I probably don't trigger the ire of Elementary...yet.

It should be noted the Ubuntu repositories are turned off by default. You have to install software-properties-common to enable them. Ideally, you should always install a flatpak application for security reasons but they don’t always run the way they’re supposed to and its nice to have the option to install deb. apps when you need them.

Man! KDE Plasma in Debian or Kubuntu do all this stuff for like what, decades! What where they think? 😅

Elementary is called Elementary due to it treating you like a grade schooler... terrible OS always has been always will be
