Hi James , glad you featured this game changing material, it has been used widely inthe EU, and I believe the USA, very fast and convenient and very good insulation factor, quite durable when reinforced with fiberglass cloth then stuccoed, , I think there needs to be more education with the laborers tho as most of them are familiar with cement only.

James,just when I think you made your ‘best’ video- this video appears. 👏🏻👏🏻 Great discussion of CHB vs AAC. Your last point about actual weight bearing ability (kitchen cabinets, large screen TV, etc) and possible solutions was right on the money. Question: Concerning electrical lines/ water-sewage lines: what is the process for that phase of construction with AAC blocks? Assuming cutting or chipping channels into walls. Thank you as always for your helpful discussions. Joe

ISF are mostly forms for Solid Concrete, meaning Styrofoam on outside and inside sandwich solid concrete ,and depending on geology will or might need Rebars, also concrete is heavy so sometimes " blowout" can be expected and be prepared for that (reinforce that weak spot).

Yes, AAC is an alternative to CHB but isn't structural. I don't see any rebar or is it used as a column or bond beam in the video. Could it be used like brick? The one obvious advantage it has over HCB is the finish on both sides. If it had slots on all 4 sides for rebar then it could be structural in a stacked bond pattern.

James I like this aac's If you put a screen front on them in bedded in their outer coat they put on that would be bullet proof. And I don't know the widths it seem much width the sound would just be part of it and there are things on the inside as you know to mitigate sound. You didn't say if this was a couple. foreigner and philippina, or older Philippine company, or who or what will lie in the house. you never said the sizes of the aac's or eec's My audio was terrible, or I'm losing my hearing or both. but usual blocks here as you know are 16"l x8"w x 8"deep. Are those blocks styrofoam as I seen the guy using a handsaw to cut them? Sorry James if these are dumb questions as I know your the man when it comes to this stuff. Hi James Hi Ness. James that's a fantastic episode on the alternative building material. Very in depth and interesting, As my love for construction and being a Architecture lover, lets playing devils advocate here. My main curiosity would be what are the Pros and cons of using AAC block in residential construction. off the top of my head I'm saying no vertical steel and no continuous horizontal joint reinforcement every fourth course?😨🥴 If then best suited for non-load bearing walls and only used for partitions. The other thing that jumps out is that it has voids(being aerated) which then would could mean its brittle? Lastly , it's availability in rural areas, trucking cost must be through the roof along with procurement cost. Although there are many Pros to using AAC;Thermal insulation and energy-efficiency,Fire-resistant,High compressive strength,soundproof,moisture-proof come to mine to name a few. I 'm wondering what the toss up would be more in favor of. I would like to see you following of this build its very interesting. Thanks.🙂🤗

I thought fly ash weakened cement. City inspectors are wanting zero fly ash here in California today. As others have said. Not enough stagger in joints nor any grout adhesive between vertical joints between blocks. No vertical rebar also concerns me. I get the open joint on the end. Sort of like how they seal tilt up buildings here. What I do see is the blocks are the same width as the corner columns. No protruding corners in the rooms when finished. That bothers me. Didn’t see a reply to my comment on another video. Do you still have your home in N/S Carolina? That’s where I first found you when researching ponds a few years back.
@MyPIDream

Fly ash cement offers many advantages over regular cement, including decreased water permeability and increased strength. When improperly produced, however, poor quality fly ash will demonstrate disadvantages, such as heightened concrete permeability and slow curing times.

James are these structural strong blocks? The reason I ask this is I noticed they have a poured post and beam structure and the blocks are stacked in between the structure. What I'm asking I guess can these blocks be used on their own for structure and do the come with corner blocks or 90% angle ones? Also can they be used below grade as you can with regular poured blocks just sitting on a footing?
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream 2 года назад
The compression strength of these are comparable to good quality CHB's although in this build they are not used on any load bearing wall so it's more than sufficient in strength for this type construction. When used in a 90 degree angle the standard overlapping practice applies. When combined with a proper waterproofing strategy these are a perfect choice over CHB's because of their water permeability advantages.

I'm not the expert on AAC blocks but I would have no problems building cabinets/wardrobes that are floor supported for load weight and use the AAC block wall structure for securing the cabinet to. You will need to speak to your contractor to get a feeling if they are experienced in installing these newer type of wall structures. These block will not be affected by termites but I caution you not to install them in the same manner as you see in this video. The contractor was new to this type of installation and did not follow proper protocol with regards to adhesive and attachment to the columns and beams. James does it have an R value?

Yes,According to thickness of walls / blocks, Aircrete is very fire retardant, you can put blowtorch on it and not feel heat on the otherside .

@@aurelio-reymilaorcabal9669 I found out the R-Value. Its 1.25 per inch. Not a lot. For example code in South Florida is minimum R-13 for walls. 6 inch AAC is 7.5 R - value

@@davidbruce5377 not sure where your source of info, but I have not checked into it i have seen a video of it being used in Europe where they have winters, Germany and Belgium I think a YT Clorado vlogger " Aircrete Harry"is constructing Minidomes of Aricrete , and taken tests in winter of how effective the insulating factor is of his methods of building, an Earthquake and Hurricane resistant 9 Feet diameter mini dome, builtin 7 days, he can build bigger easily.

I have been thinking of foam cement. I wanted that for the purpose of insulation purposes. How is this block with insulation? What is the cost versus foam cement.? I am planning to build in Pangansinan. Thank you
@MyPIDream

The insulation factor is based on the aerated added materials to the mix.

James, do you think the AAC block can be shaped or cut to create slopes under a window, to shed water?
@MyPIDream

You mean like a sill? I would think so.
@paulchesney1798

So would it be a 20 to 25% increase in end cost,or just for that part of the build.
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream 2 года назад
The 20-25% increase is only for the wall section in comparison to CHB's. This is not a total project price increase.

The bad thing is, this people don't use AAC in right way most time the line of brick is not set 50% sidewards. So it's weaker. 🤔
