i don't even play the game that much but even i had a crazy deja vu once from a place i had in geoguessr when walking through some city i had a competition in. that was really weird that feeling.
That's not what deja vu means. You can get a deja vu in a place/situation you've never been or seen before. Deja vu means you see a situation but your brain registers it twice, which feels like you have experienced it before.
What makes me enjoy Tom's content more than other Geoguessr player's is that you see the progress in real time and the fallibility of his playing, which means when he gets a great score he can't believe it just as much as the audience. Not to knock the people who are the best at the game, but there's only so many times I can watch someone just be like "nice." after a perfect guess in Cambodia or something, I like seeing a guy get excited by playing the game!
Yeah that’s why he’s more popular… gaming on RU-vid isn’t about how good you are and there is nothing wrong with that as it’s a platform for entertainment
Also not as meta-focussed as a lot of the GeoGuessr RU-vidrs, it's more on hunches and gut feel than how many stripes are on a bollard and that's just more interesting to the casual viewer I feel.
I think you really nailed the editing here, the breaks to explain the scene, the overlaid text, allowing past Tom's commentary to come through. It all came together for a great watching experience! Cheers
I kinda knew it when the video was short and the title / thumbnail were what they were, but to finally get an easy Singapore at the 5th round was such a relief.
What's weird is during the game you can clearly see mountains in the background @ 6:03. That's what gave it away for me. But when the game is over and he looks at the street view the mountains aren't visible @ 9:03.
Classic GeoWizard content. Amusing comments / singing? Check. Are we recording? Check. Insane skills and luck? Check! I've never been disappointed since subscribing a good while ago. Congrats on the achievement!
OMFG - I’m a nock girlie! Cannock was heath gap road - my late nan grew up there literally 3 houses down on the left of that image (a big old house which is now a block of flats or a row of terraces. It was a massive house with loads of garden, pear tress, apple trees and veg patches galore! I still have a scar on my forehead from the rockery in the garden when my sister dropped me from a piggy back. It’s next door to the working men’s club with a big grey wall which i used to climb up and balance all the way across! That round sent shivers down my spine!!!!!!!! So many memories… I now live in Stafford behind the crematorium where she is with my Grandad so I’m still so close 5:28 !
Just thinking about some videos / posts where you were pondering what sort of content you should make. Some people were craving adventures and others wanting this sort of thing. Personally, I watch you because of your personality. I think I could watch you painting walls. It's like you're one of the boys, part of the friendship group if you know what I mean. You're living the dream with the adventure stuff but this stuff is brilliant to watch too. You can't traverse the earth every week, sometimes you have to just work from home. I wish people would care as much about me working from home. This quest (and it was a quest) was great to watch. But boy, go out and touch some grass and have a pint. You deserve it. If it was wetherspoons I'd order you a pint to your table. In fact I'm going to order a pint to a random table to a wetherspoons where I think you might be tomorrow evening. Love your content mate.
What a great video!! I loved the editing for the first round, great way to show what you are looking at to determine the place. You then slowly sliding towards insanity which then allowed you to nail the goal... well just icing on the cake. Well done!
Absolutely insane game bruv, must've felt so good expecting a 24k sharp and getting a 24.7k+. Guess number 4 was completely ridiculous, couldn't believe my eyes. Amazing editing too, very enjoyable video. Well done Tom.
Can we just have singing versions of all Tom's videos now? Singing geoguessr, singing straight line missions (bonus points if you can get the farmers to harmonize)
Unbelievable. Last round must have immediately felt like a victory lap considering how small Singapore is. And he managed to match the singing to the syllables in the rhythm perfectly. It's most likely one of the greatest moments ever recorded in Geoguessr.
Congrats Tom, you've done it in style! The singing, one right next door to you, a worldwide spread seed and ending in Sing-apore to top of this unique game.
Love the text on the different locations! Really, really elevated the experience. Also felt like you added narrative to this one unlike you have before. Been following you for a few years now and you're always able to keep things fresh and interesting, Tom. Appreciate you!
I lived in Phnom Penh for a few years and as soon as I saw the ad for Samurai (probably the best energy drink on the planet) and those bloody yellow and black striped road separators I knew that's where it was. Was silently screaming at the screen as you chose Malaysia.
Great job, and beyond all your knowledge and the luck it's your persistence that makes the difference, respect! There is huge evidence that singing calms you down, probably the through the breathing 👍!
Love that you put labels on the things you're looking at for clues, my main "critisism" of geoguessr vids is that they don't explain why they picked their guesses
Great guesses! Always a pleasure watching you play. But Tom, do you think you could record your audio at a higher volume? I always have to crank it up to maximum and then the ads give me a little fright every time they come on 😅
One of the most sure fire ways to disrupt someones flow state is to have them explain their process. Which is pretty much what you do for us all the time ;) Singing helps you stay in the zone.
Congrats, Tom, you did it! Been following your GeoGuesser adventures for a while now but never commented. Now I just couldn't resist. Really happy for you, man! Keep up the entertaining content. Hell, even the singing if it helps 😜 Greetings from Vienna 👋
I've been waiting to see you do this for a long time. Congratulations! I raised MY ARMS and yelled out "Singapore" just as the picture popped. Congrats again!
Cheers, Tom, on an incredible feat a long time in the making. And doing it in style, no less! Even though you hit your goal, I'd still love to see more of these videos, but I'll watch anything you post!
Me and my Mrs love your videos, religiously watch them together, Im from shrewsbury, shes from Cannock...you don't know how mad the Moment at 5:35 was to watch and listen to haha
