Is it just me or these new S3 rims are awful looks like something off a SE model 1.6 diesel??? Whats that about Audi? This is meant to be a performance car a S car surely they could of come up with something more appealing, especially being a S car.
@@carguy_0627 I’m actually looking to buy a S3 and only thing is those wheels, and some people may say just change them, but I like to keep the OEM look of the car by not having aftermarket wheels on if that makes sense, big let down from Audi, its as if they just give up on the design of them not nice at all very lazy looking
@@AppyG yeah I know what you mean but Imo I say go for the old S3 as I think it looks better and has nice wheels but then again it’s personal preference because I don’t think this new S3 is appealing enough for a performance s car
@@uk7866 I think maybe with some black tyre gel it could help them stand out, or yeah a white car. Or like @bob bob said its to get customers to pay more.
Na this S3 ain't it I'm sorry 😪. The best S3 by far is the 17 reg imo cos it looked good and had the sound aswell. This S3 is straight trash, again, that's just my opinion tho 🤦♂️
Defo agree, all the top car dealers have all gone backwards on their design in 2020 - ( Except the A class) New Gen Golf looks average at best BMW 1 series design is questionable Audi's Design trying way too hard to look sporty. (they have lost the sleeky design look from the previous version) Mercedes is the only hatchback advancing in its design style
Are VW and Audi in a battle to come up with the shittest GTI and S3’s ever created. They both look absolutely hideous. Is Steve Wonder picking the alloys too?
I Just don’t think any of these new A3s, A Class, GTis etc are interesting in any way. These new models lack any real character. Great video from yourself as usual though!
I feel that vag is clearly differentiating the Golf R from the S3. S3 is more on the plush side .... a gentlemens small saloon with a decent punch while the Golf R, more of a enthusiast's coup of tea. Btw, racebox times 100-200 kmh seem to make the new S3 at least 1.5s faster than the previous non opf 7.5R so i think that because it's more confortable and maybe better sound proof it tricks you into thinking it's not as fast.
And plus I think tr hamza should do an full top pic video 20 to 30 mins long talking about 2.5 cylinder what made him like them engine and like focus st rs engine all 2.5 engine like llf with he done with Audi rs2 like documentary that would be pretty interesting video talking about all of manufactures 2.5 cylinder how they differ like you drove MK2 rs Ford one how it differs to Audi rs3 2.5 how to Volvo to all other brands honest option I think we need that video good idea any tr hamza
Its funny to me how a '21 Skoda Octavia has more standard equipment than an S3 even though they are the same platform. Feels like Audi/VW have lost touch a little bit.
As always - a great honest review. I have always been a fan of the Audi S & RS series cars being a VAG fanatic (I've aspired to an RS3 / TTRS after my current Golf Edition 30). However, i think Audi have lost their way here. This S3 looks very fussily designed, the wheels are terrible, and in the words of James May, I'd say the front is 'gopping'.
I agree as well, don’t even think you’re being biased.. I’ve properly driven FL 8V S3, it felt fast, but the steering feel wasn’t fun, kind of felt like I was driving a 4x4.. Got back into my GTI right after and it felt nice a true-r experience of what a hot hatch is..
I've got to say in the 1st few minutes where you are walking round the car I noticed that the wheel and tyre combo on this car look absolutely horrific - it looks like some A1 wheels with some budgets on! The first thing I would do as a new one would fling them straight in the recycling! Thumbs up, nice little run down on this S3 gen.
Nice review mate. No hiding fact you’re underwhelmed though. I’ve done same journey as you, 67 plate S3 with res delete - awesome car. Now have pre opf 18 plate RS3 and its epic on every level. Every review of this new S3, leaves me disappointed. It’s more of an A3 than an S3 now, if that makes sense. And WHY give new Golf R more BHP...confirms new S3’s demise.
Usual VAG stuff these days. No driver control needed, it's all done for you, press and go, making for a boring i-drive. Must be a £40k price tag for one of these? Keep it. Ideal for the masses who lead an i-life in an i-world....hey Google, what's the temperature of my ringpiece today?
I don’t rate this s3 tbh it’s just a bit meh looks too much of an s4. Headlights are big on the side for no reason. Interiors just looking a bit much especially the driver side vents ... just out of place and stick up over the dash line .. I’m sure the power and ride is decent but it’s just not my cup of tea
I am warming to these facelift cars but hate this spec! What are those wheels about! Screams entry level! I'm sure with the blacked out details and some large diamond cuts on it would look the part.
Its confusing me as well, but I think Audi will drop an RS3 on that has things the Golf R has, but with a bigger engine and much higher price. So it'll be a weird thing of - RS3 --> Golf R Performance Pack --> S3 / Base Golf R --> rest of hot hatches VAG do.
@trhamza, i have an 8Y S3 and im debating whether to get the stage 1 tune from MRC or take the jump to RS3. Mine is the black edition but has loads of added options, as i bought it straight out the showroom. What's your reccomendation? Is it worth paying the extra for the RS3?
Those sound Aktor things are annoying. There's one on my new Cupra and I'm going to try disable it. Fake noise that drowns out the natural noise of the exhaust.
Feel like the old wheel (although is really nice) doesn’t suit the interior, everything so angular and sharp, would’ve suited the new squarer wheel you find in the other new Audi’s
@@armaaniqbal8425 the flat bottom is from the previous shape (facelift 8v). If you go for the driver assistance pack you'll get a more modern wheel (with a square horn surround) but it will be the full circle and not flat bottomed
2019 Cupra has the center tach too - my 2018 does not. Guess whats the difference.... the new Virtual Cockpit has the exact same Serial Number except they added the letter "A" on the 2019 one. Therefore i can not have this nice view added via Update. VAG man, they always find a stupid way to block you beeing just satisfied with their otherwise good cars. Would even pay a few bucks for the update but no, can't get it.
I think the 2017-2020 A3,S3,RS3 looks better than the new models. These newer model 3 series cars look very generic and somewhat fake . They look like modernized rental cars.
Wow the new S3 is pretty ugly if you ask me. That’s the body design and the wheels wouldn’t catch me paying £36.5k for a dead looking whip like that. Thanks for the review Hamza definitely helped me make my mind up 😂👌🏽
Great video, thanks a bunch. Think i'm gonna actually have to go and buy one. Wish me strength though because i'll probably be waiting over half a year for delivery because all the electronics on the planet are mining bitcoins right now rather than ending up in cars.
Keep the previous model I can't see the point it's almost identical also the interior is not as good quality as the last generation Audi are probably saving money to pay the fines the parent company got slapped with 🤣
I like the sides and the back of car but don’t like the front. There too much going on and it don’t blend in well with the bonnet. I prefer the older style grill..
Give it a rest guys nobody will option those wheels, I can tell you the car is a big improvement on the 8V, only when you have driven both can you comment
They've confused the range now, my A3 edition 1 actually looks better spec from the outside (better rims etc) the only tell tale sign left are the quad exhausts and chrome (dated) styling
What on earth have audi done with that gear selector?!?! Put it up on the dash or on the steering wheel like Mercedes do its awful there 😂 much better used as storage that area than waste it on a stupid toggle!
Can’t help but thinking back to the model progression of the past, say the Mk1 golf, great little car, but the Mk2 arguably the far better car right up , VW lost their way with the mk3 and mk4 aside from a couple of versions until the Mk5 put that right again. Seems history may be repeating itself with the Audi A3 range, seem to have focussed on tech and silly styling, the RS may be a bit more of a revelation, but i can’t help thinking it will be numbed by the opf and all the silly gadgets on it
In Australia our VAG cars come straight away with most of options. Besides sunroof, and if you want some special colour . But with everything else . So I am talking Golf R , RS3 , S3 . I got RS 3 love IT :)
You looked happier driving the Cupra 290 during a previous review. Admittedly, I may be biased as a Cupra driver but that S3 doesn't do anything for me. I appreciate the appeal of AWD but where is the fun factor? Previous posters are spot on, those alloys are pants for a performance car.
