I bought two rolls to try it out. I read all of the “expert reviews”. Lacks sharpness, grainy, muddy shadows, etc. Then I began watching videos like yours and the reviews are astounding! Nostalgic colors! Nostalgic grain! Muted colors! And so many more wonderful comments. These are the things I’ve been trying to replicate in digital and have only had limited success. I think Orwo has created a very special film niche that the film community wants, loves and desires. Classified as an experimental film, I WOULDN’T CHANGE A THING!!! THANK YOU ORWO FOR GOING OUT THERE AND TAKING A RISK! YOU SUCCEEDED!!!

There is so much more than "technical aspects" and "sheets" in photography! Thanks for watching and for this comment 📸❤️

I love saturated color, but this NC 500 (and NC400) is giving me life. I’m learning to treat it as I would black & white film, because the contrast and grain are its defining features.

I want Kodachrome back, or an analog film that takes photos that look like Kodachrome

Wolfen is defintely a niche film. I could see making vintage looking photos using late 50's era cars and people dressed in period clothing. If I had to choose one color film to shoot it would be Kodak Ektar 100.

I notice you're shooting with an Olympus OM-1. The OM-1 was the first 35mm camera I bought. I bought it in 1977 while I was in the military and stationed on Okinawa for a year. I've been shooting digital for some time now, but I do flirt with the notion of getting a film camera again. Enjoyed your video. Keep it up. Thanks.

I am very partial to Wolfen NC500, I really really love the warm but muted tones a lot. Hot tip, shoot it at ISO 320

I tested this film for the first time in March. I find the colors take some getting used to. And I exposed my sample at 200 ISO. I think the film is better that way.

Its got character, I really dig it! I have had a roll in the fridge for a while now, need to dig it out before its too old lol. Also, Ektar 100 til the end of time and all over again baby! ❤ your videos, keep enjoying photography and well be here to support you, cheers! 🎉

And for me it's too grainy for everyday film. But if you know what you want to use it for, it's good to have another alternative.

Exactly, it's good to know what each film can do and use accordingly!

I recognize that location from one of your previous videos. Is that red car always there? If I had to choose only one film stock for the rest of my days, it would be HP5. (maybe PAN F)

I have been eager to play with *any color film not made by kodak* for fun, and I have a few rolls of NC500 waiting in my stash. I do like the way the grain, and the muted cool colors look... I think I will slightly over expose that film when playing with it too.

I've never seen this film but from what I see here, I LOVE it! Its the ANTI DIGITAL film. Imagine if Tri-X was in color. Perfect! My all-time film would be Fujichrome RVP (If I could afford it the rest of my life). Since I have already shot a saturated color slide film for the last 50+ years (Kodachrome 64, Fujichrome 50 and Velvia 50) my choice has become Ilford FP4, an excellent all around monochrome film.

I've only shot this Wolfen Nc500, once and I didn't experience any grain problems. I probably need to buy it again, to check.

I like your video especially the section of audio with footsteps on the gravel. Photos are wonderfully crunchy. Yeah iso 400 film in bright light will give extra grain. If I could only shoot one film stock for the rest of my life it would be Fuji C200 but my favorites are Ilford XP2 then Fomapan 200. The OM1 rocks!

If I could only shoot one stock, it would be slide (E6) film, like Fujifilm Provia 100F, or Kodak Ektachrome E100.

I have a roll in the fridge so I am curious to see how it works for portraits. As with the first time I shoot with any film stock I will bracket my shots to see which look I prefer. I love trying different films, always fun to experiment.

One (current) filmstock to shoot for the rest of my life -- Kodak ColorPlus 200 -- to me it has the most nostalgic color rendering to match my memories growing up of family photos (1970s). A 'dream' filmstock to shoot for the rest of my life? Kodachrome 40 -- no question. When I started shooting 35mm as a young teen in the 1970s, with a hand-me-down Nikon F and some crappy, non-Nikkor lenses, I shot Kodachrome 64 and 40 -- I liked 40 the best.... But those days are gone....
@flora.k
@flora.k 2 месяца назад
At least you had the pleasure to shoot Kodachrome! Sounds great!
@aengusmacnaughton1375
@aengusmacnaughton1375 2 месяца назад
@@flora.k -- somewhere packed away are a lot of those Kodachrome slides -- they usually last very well with little to now color shifts. But the Ektachrome slides from back in the day (did not like the colors as much as the Kodachrome) -- yuck, those turn super orange with age.... Ektar 100 has a bit of the color depth of the Kodachrome, but none of the magic of slide film (and tight latitude)....

Great video! Alas, for $20/roll of 36 exposures, this film stock is simply not for me. I love grain for sure but if I’m spending that much I’d expect finer grain with great color accuracy.

I used to develop my own B&W film, and although strong grain doesn't do color any justice, in my opinion, strong grain makes B&W come alive. I often pushed Tri-X to ASA 800 with another 30 seconds of time in the developer tray when printing. Grain is subjective. Some love it, and some don't. I personally like it with B&W street portraits. If you could get that Wolfen 500 in monochrome, I'd be all over it.
@GeNTooFReaK
@GeNTooFReaK 2 месяца назад
There is Wolfen NP100, b&w, which you could push of course. And there used to be other speeds in b&w and color back in the old days (of East Germany, GDR). Maybe they will reproduce them also some day.
