In Meghalaya you will never find a shop or restaurant that says 'OUTSIDERS' Cannot eat here. It is a mistranslation of the couple's driver or guide. OR the restaurant is reserved for in house Guest. Therefore ALWAYS TAKE A LOCAL or NATIVE DRIVER OR GUIDE to show you around. A Suggestion from a Local person.

I lived in Shillong from 2001-2004. I fell in love with the place and the culture. Lush green everywhere.

Let me share a fun story. I went to Meghalaya few months back, it was a wonderful experience. There were many adventures through out the trip, but one of the most thrilling ones was in the Mawsmai cave. We reached the cave pretty late, almost at 4.30 pm. It was closing time. We persuaded with the guard and managed to enter. It was like dusk. Very little light through the mountainous jungle. We were going to the destination, while everyone was returning. We reached the starting of the cave, it was just 3 of us. We entered and on our way we saw that everyone was returning.. at first we were a bit worried, but then we decided that it's a one time experience, let's go in. We went through the cave, to a point where there was no artificial light anymore. Only 3 of us, at first hesitant, but then we were like "let's give it a a shot." We walked through the extremely narrow path, not knowing what was on the other side. We also had to return, walking through the hilly forest, and it was already dark. We preceded a bit further, it was pitch dark, I turned on the mobile torch, and there were NUMEROUS bats flying all around.. It felt like a literal horror movie, istg. I quickly turned off the torch as the bats were coming towards it.. Never in my entire life had I seen such huge sized bats. They literally flew to our face. For a moment we were so scared.. We decided to return back as the entire cave was completely empty and it was already past 5 pm. 5 pm in the hills is pretty late and dark. While returning, 2 bats literally flew into my face.. I was so scared, Oh my god... Then after some time, we made our way out.. we could not complete the entire path and had to return halfway coz it was pretty late and only us... But it was so fun and adventurous at the same time. It felt like experiencing horror movie in real life. We came out, and three of us along with the guard, made our way back through the full moon lit forest. It is a experience, I will never ever forget. Just wanted to share it with all of you. You are traveling the all places that foreigners who come to India don't usually go.....so I really like your journey........hope you will someday go to Kerala...state of India..it is famous for its backwater house Boating....and really cool place.. and to see the tallest statue of world in Gujurat

wish you guys stayed for a day more. You could visit krangsuri falls, dawki ,snongpedeng and vastness of cherrapunjee.

You guys can consider to go Andaman Nicober Island. The Island is very beautiful specially Havelock Island(Swaraj Dweep).

You guys are exploring INDIA the right way ❤ other foreigners just go to delhi and agra ( which i Don't recommend ) , just one thing to say - travel Andaman islands if possible.

Even though you travelled to meghalaya, which is part of our northeast india, as your driver seemed to be of bengali origin you did not eat indigenous food. We indigenous people of northeast india do not eat north indian curries and eat a lot of meat. The speciality of khasi cuisine is pork and beef meat dishes. Thank you for visiting northeast india, however you should try our indigenous food which is similar to southeast asian and southern chinese food

you should and must visit GANGTOK, SHIMLA ,KASHMIR,RISHIKESH, MANALI, KERALA, DARJEELING, MUSOORIE ETC. THOSE PLACES ARE ALSO VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL

I don't understand why Koreans don't watch videos of people showing positive views of India. They only watch all the vloggers that show the negative aspects.

If you visit Meghalaya India again. Please do visit Garo Hills Meghalaya also. We have so much places to explore like Wari Chora, balpakram national park, balpakram canyon, Nokrek National Park, Nakama Caves. One thing you missed is eating Khasi food. If the guide was khasi, she/he would have definitely taken you to eat the local food like for breakfast you could have gotten putharo- dohjem, pukhleiñ, pudoh etc and for lunch khasi thali

I have traveled Meghalaya 3 time when I was in iit Guwahati so I know every place where you went.😂

You missed the best one in Cherrapunji, The living Root Bridges, it's one of the UNESCO World Heritage site. However you need a full day for this as you need to trek down to see them and come back up.

If you are still in guwahati or other parts of assam, please try indigenous assamese cooking which is different from indian food as we do not cook with masala and lot of spices and more with herbs and vegetables and meat. Please try pork, pigeon, duck, silkworm, red ant eggs, snails, frog and other meat dishes. Try pork khorika, which is pork grilled inside bamboo tube. We also have anguli pitha which is nearly the same as tteokbokki. Also try the assamese deserts made of sticky rice including sunga pitha, til pitha, ghila pitha and others. In northeast india please do not just eat regular indian food when we have our own cuisines that are more similar to the korean way of cooking and also your palate
