When the men fought this war in the 1860's, little did they know that in 2020, a man was going to watch a playable digitized reenactment, and talk over it like a sports announcer. Life is weird.
@@Free_Krazy No, a tactical victory is limited to the battlefield, to a specific combat action, while strategic victory is related more to the whole "war campaign", however, there is no strategic victory here, just tactical.
i can't wait until the other branches of service are fully implemented, the artillery stuff they've shown off in trailers looks great so i really hope they give cavalry a good go when they get around to it
Thank you for showcasing our 6th Louisiana's Tigers 3 year anniversary! Its always a pleasure to fight along side you Bulldogs in the 13th Georgia & all my brother in II Corps! This was an epic line battle and I had a blast. The Federals tactic of staying low in the creek at the start of the fight was pretty brilliant! Much respect to Colonel Tyler, Lt. Colonel Emerson & the the man leading the Union IX Corps in the field Major Red. If yall like what you saw, join up into Stonewall Jackson's II Corps. Currently we are looking for solid recruits to fill the ranks of the 18th Infantry of the great state of Mississippi! If you don't enjoy states rights, low taxes & small government I would suggest joining the Union IX Corps or TNA, both being really high quality Federal units.
This looks freaking awesome. I love the size of this battle and i like how each troop is individually controlled by a different person but they still working as one.
As a german its very interesting to see that the biggest immigration group of that time, the germans, opt with 90% for the Union. Very interesting to see how german history and the conflicts in their former home had an enormous influence at the US history
Maxwell Fraleigh i got a lot of relatives in the USA who immigrated in the USA in the 1850‘s, also in Canada who immigrated after the second world war. Its a pitty that the kings and duches and so on treated the people so bad. So much potential for the german people just left the country.
each soldier is a human player? wonderful!!! i've noticed that the confederates are fighting with the morning sunin their eyes which would have (or is?) a mistake. also shooting very far away.
dude.... in the beginning you kept showing the sides that were volleying, you should have showed the side getting shot at so we could see the destruction!!! really frustrating.
Yeah, that's EXTREMELY annoying. I got to watch a bunch of people shooting guns repeatedly - and I mean repeatedly - but no impacts. There's a reason the NFL doesn't just show the quarterback throwing the football all game.
All that parading at the start. It's awesome in how many ways you can present arms there, like 3 or 4 different ways of holding your musket. That's some deep immersion there. Me like!
Fantastic video Apollo! It was great to see you in game! Can’t wait to fight alongside you and your 13th again! Your speech during the Promotion Ceremony was very nice indeed! Let’s give ‘em hell! -Color Sergeant Hyperkid, Fighting 5th Virginia
BRILLIANT MUST WATCH.Watching on my projector,i Truly felt i was there. The Immersion&Atmosphere of this game is Priceless(Post Scriptum,Hell Let Loose).& the players...OMG.The 'Swoopin' commentary & camera work, gave the viewer, lovely angles,to look at the battle.I seriously could not help laughing at the action.Apollo,BIGG Thanx man.
I'm a living Historian in the 105th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and amateur civil war Historian. I didn't know this game existed, thank you for posting these. Really wish I could play this, but I do enjoy doing it in real life.
Whow thats fine. Reminds me of the best TW Mod i ever played "US Civil war The blue and the Grey" in 100s of games i played Confeds only and lost not one game, my favoured units were Washington Arty, Kenntucky Orphan Brigade and Stonewalls Brigade. Phantastic game here and union won only because Georgia was on their side ;)
clearly defined earlier in the video that the two sides were playing for losses. So. the commentary is correct. The rules of victory agreed on gave a union victory due to less losses of men. However....the game scoring would award a confederate win for the scenario. Really impressive graphics. Well played by both sides. Bravo.
I’d like to see a lot more people use the tactics from back then such as the reinforced volley lines one line fires reloads behind the next fire line then they fire and do that it’d be more historically accurate but overall this game is badass makes me want a pc lol
I am a huge American Civil War buff. Read countless books, studied it and have visited many key locations. I've been to Gettysburg numerous times (2 to 3 times a year). This game shares a lot of similarities. The gun smoke would actually be so thick and last longer that enemy soldiers often wouldn't know they were actually within feet of each other. The fence rows and open fields were very common as well during these types of battles. This is cool stuff right here
I really love tacticals videos and games and that's why I really love Pixel Apollo. This is the first channel i really love to watch (specially the tacticals games and history wars) even if it takes about an hour and I really don't get bored. More power to you idol and please don't stop make videos like this. Greetings here in the PH.
what people tend to forget when talking about the hgh amount of casualties is the lack of experience of the generals, since the us hadnt been involved in many wars, and at this point it wasnt a country with a strong war culture the generals didnt have much experience which led to battles being long and being decided not by particular moves or sharp decisions but by endurance and basically who could stand there for longer. Which is the main reason behind the victory over the south, the fact that the north was more industrialiced and could fight for longer.
@@starcrusader5685 compared to european countries their officers did lack skill, they hadnt been in a lot of wars, plus the regular army was relatively small, leading to a lack of officers compared to the size of both armies, which had increased severly due to conscription. And as I said the US wasnt a warmongering nation whatsoever so the amount of money dedicated to the army regularly was small
I completely understand the need for certain companies/regiments to play the other side. In the reenacting community, we call it "Galvanizing." The reenacting unit I used to be with galvanized a lot due to the major shortage of participants in the hobby
39th New York Infantry Regiment, Garibaldi Guard, dressed and fitted like Bersaglieri from Sardinia-Piedmont/newly unified Italy, Inspired by freedom fighter Giuseppe Garibaldi.
I love this game. I especially love how players just get into their roles. Had some guy on the Confederate side called me a dirty yankee then stabbed me lol.
@@irferf nope. No one says anything racist in this game which. Out of all the other games I played with voice chat on this is the one where no one says any racist shit. It's all in good fun. Besides players on Confederate team mostly just speak with a southern accent and sing or do battle cries. Players on union team do alot of Huzzahs
Watching this makes me laugh that it took so long for someone to say "hey, if we hide in a bush we can shoot them when they're not paying attention and not die."
Since nobody listened to my comment in the last video *I will spell it out in meme form* Apollo:uploads good content that is not bannerlord Fans(true fans if you say): YAY!! Fans that subbed to Apollo because of bannerlord : WhErE iS BANnErloRd?
Fake? What did I say that is fake? And sir I have followed Apollo since 2016 on 2 different accounts! I mean listen to his voice in this video and compare it with his voice in the last bannerlord vid Then you may get my point!
Siobhan OReilly AND if I didn’t care I would’ve stoped commenting weeks! Ago And I am not sure if your deaf or stupid you can tell in HIS voice that he.is.not.enjoying.it End of story
What was the confederates doing at the start? There was a forest that would cover their advance all the way to the creek and they could pop off a volley and bayonet charge before the Yankee boys knew what him em
the CSA unit at the fence corners firing by file or section might help keep the enemy suppressed better. 28:05 ... Chaaarge Bayonets.... Gaggle Formation, will advance at double time, forwaarrd marrch! lol
maybe. Adding AI troops is like adding something predictable so you could potentially rack up big points against the AI opponents. admittedly, this could play both ways. But....you want the people fighting each other....not a competition for who is wasting the most AI troops.
I went hiking in the real Harper's Ferry in West VA and found a bunch of 3-ringer .69cal (I think) bullets around the water, I was told it was likely someone who was shot & dropped their ammo pouch. Good place to explore.
Hi ... I stumbled across your video. I am a Civil War Reenactor and with covid going on this is a great way to continue my hobby. I started in the infantry and have reenacted in all three branches. Would love a chance to play.
Good, this is much more interesting and immersive plus bannerlord was getting pretty boring and monotonous for him and a lot of us. I just checked and it’s only been 3 days since he uploaded bannerlord you can calm down. Edit: Additional information added
Eh I don’t really miss it I was getting kind of sick of watching the big grind of just losing fiefs and retaking them and constant battles that are all the same. I like the total war and war of rights. Wish he could bring back gears tactics
I think the biggest issue that the union faced was there organization and communication. There was a lot of disconnect between the troops. For example the charge into the confederate corner. Their lines were also not as disciplined as the CSA. However, the CSA seemed to deal with poor overall positioning from the beginning but fixed it partway through the battle. For instance, near the beginning, the CSA was lining upon an open hill while the union used the ditches to there advantage. I believe that was the deciding factor in that battle since the CSA appeared to be taking many more casualties than the union when they were in that open position.
I tend to see so many players out of line, during "line battles". I think maybe the various groups should get together and organize a kind of "School Of the Soldier" online and practice marching /formations and proper type volley firing. All tactics taught from "Hardees light infantry tactics".
