If you haven't done so already, you should review their bigger (biggest) hit, "So into You." That one is about loving someone else, for sure...and it is even more soulful.
Need to check out So Into You, Spooky, Champagne Jam and Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight. Yes the song means what it means. Doesn't bother me at all. There not the first and weren't the last. Cyndi Lauper had a huge hit with She Bop. Just don't get so wrapped up in it.
The Atlanta Rhythm Section is such a great Southern Rock band. They formed in 1970 in Doraville, GA. Check out "Spooky", "So into You" and "Do it or Die."
These guys were on a steady play rotation on the radio in the 70's.They have a lot of hits from the 70's,really good catalog of southern rock.ARS are still performing now, they are actually playing in Rome GA. in a few days.Rome is about 70 miles north of Atlanta.
They were the house band at CW Shaws on Buford Hwy in Atlanta in the late 70s , early 80s. Use to see em every weekend. Listen to Doraville. Another hit. Last saw em at the Fish festival in Destin. A friend, Karl Probst , was playing keyboards, and sang American Band, for Mark Farner ( Grand Funk ) on his world tour in 2008. RU-vid Mark Farner live in Moscow, American Band. Karl passed a few years ago. What a great memory. Thanks !
Speaking of songs you never thought you'd hear with this subject matter....you should definitely give a listen/reaction to the Divinyls 1990 hit "I Touch Myself". I'd recommend watching the original video (there are countless covers by other artists), and then watch the abbreviated version/scene from the "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" movie.
I never really thought about the songs meaning. All I know is if you and some friends smoke some weed and this comes on the radio, the room goes silent. Great song for your "When I'm Stoned" playlist.
Everything about ARS was amazing. This is what entertainment was all about. Consider the elements that are consistent among all the music from the 1970s. The music was creative, layered, complex and tonal (wide use of notes). The vocals were the same. Very often, the singers played instruments while they sang. Lyrics were great stories and had content (as opposed to a few sentences repeated over and over). That's why these songs have lasted 40 to 50 years, and will likely outlive us all. :-D
It’s absolutely what you think it’s about. No need to over-think it. Pretty sure we’ve all had our private, midnight fantasies particularly when we were adolescents. But what did you think of Ronnie Hammond’s vocals and Barry Bailey’s bluesy guitar ? Dean Daughtry hammers out really bluesy stuff on his piano too. The ARS simply got it when it came to blues oriented rock and roll. They made Atlanta proud.
I played in an all funk band. We played this song and so into yo. When those came on there was literally panties left on the floor. Great time for a ‘20 something. You can’t mess with good funk. You going downtown boy!!
When this song came out, people didn't speak about, umm, self-service, in public. It didn';t start showing up in general entertainment until almost 20 years later. This song comes close, but I always understood it to be about an emotional lover, not a recreational one.
Nope, you dead on! The best song about onanism you will ever hear! It goes well thematically with Billy Joel's " Sometimes A Fantasy," which I enjoyed for many years before I actually paid attention to the lyrics! I still enjoy it, of course, but now I know, y'know? 😁 4:29 Ooo, well done! No spit takes from you today!
LMAO - nope, you got it, girl: that's EXACTLY what the song's about 🤣. There was a kinda on/off "game" in the 1960s and '70s where bands would try to get a song about taboo subjects out which kids would get but parents/teachers/politicians would be oblivious to. Bit of a difference to today, when songs like WAP go out and everyone just shrugs. Speaking of songs like this, another one you should check out is Pictures Of Lily by The Who.😉
Still waiting to hear you Boz Skaggs Look what you done to me Live version . Can’t wait to see your face when the back up singers at the end of the song.
Had my first date with this girl and this song came on. She says those boys need to get girlfriends. I'm now thinking this is going a fun date. Nope the date was more like a Foreigner song cold as ice. Probably have to see is Rosey Palm is available! I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so. Check that song out Britt You will really blush.
Please do some more of THE WARNING The girls are turning up heat and rocking the planet big time... Hell you call a dream liv at the Pepsi center cdmx. or Automatic Sun (studio version) released 3 day's before the Eclipse Thanks
Yes. That's what they're singing about. If it was a female band, they'd be singing about BOB -- Battery Operated Boyfriend. Basically, this is Brittreacts to porn.
