It's taken a while but we might finally have a world championship fight on our hands! The Red Bull team are under pressure at the front, with Ferrari and McLaren closing in on the top team in the sport. It's going to be a fascinating race to see who might come out on top in 2024.

Back in ‘88 after Mclaren dominated, i thought this could never happen again! Now I’m sure someday one team will win all the races.

the answer is actually yes; does that mean that RB and Max won't win the constructors' and drivers' championship? not at all, it's still the fastest car, but not by a mile anymore

"competitive" the margins have never been closer, showing how MAX is an absolute a MARADONA of Racing. Come on. is been ALWAYS competitive.
@MCFoultier
@MCFoultier Месяц назад
True During last years 10 win streak, we had miami where he came back from p9 or so to beat his teammate starting from pole (king of the Streit circuits, remember...), he had to put in that insane pole lap in monaco, manage rain in monaco, austria, silverstone, zandvoort and a grip penalty in belgium. Also won the sprints in Austria and belgium, both wet weather. And the margin was always much closer than during hamilton days. They had a second per lap, for crying out loud
@Alumnikiid
@Alumnikiid Месяц назад
@@MCFoultierHamilton days. Have to be more specific. When MB was 1 sec faster Nico was in the other car. Then 2017/2018 was a lot closer matter fact Ferrari lead the WDC and WCC for half the season. Both years Vettel crashed while on pole. Just saying Hamilton years were not all like 2020 with 1 sec faster car and slow teammate

What level of delusion is this. How rb performed in Monaco is how other teams preformed in contrast to red bull on all other tracks last year. Max is great but that doesn't mean he can come up with 5 tenths on everyone else.

Red Bull were just slower in qualifying. They were also slower in Imola and Miami. Red Bull have no where near the edge on their competitors like last year.

Max is still inevitable, and RBR are still my bet for the constructor's. But this year won't be a whitewash like the last one.

Others have improved from upgrades. Red Bull could come up with upgrades that take them further still. They have a whole new car this year. Maybe it can be improved further.

The 2024 F1 season is clearly not a repeat of 2023. But it IS a repeat of 2022. In 2022, Verstappen had a DNF in Australia. (Just like in 2024). In 2022, Verstappen failed to win in Monaco. (Just like in 2024). In 2022, Verstappen won 5 out of the first 8 races. (Just like in 2024). In 2022, there were 4 other race winners apart from Verstappen. (Just like in 2024...???) In 2022, Verstappen won the championship, ahead of Leclerc and Perez. (Just like in 2024...???)
@Abcdefg-rk8jk

But in 2022 Charles was leading until Spain. By that logic Charles will win WDC, which prolly won’t happen
@timonsolus
@timonsolus Месяц назад
@@Abcdefg-rk8jk : But in 2022 after 8 races, Leclerc was only 3rd and 34 points behind Verstappen. Leclerc’s early lead was only because Verstappen had to retire in Bahrain and Australia with technical problems. Leclerc had to retire in Spain and Azerbaijan from technical problems, which evened out the bad luck and dropped him behind Verstappen again. By the end of the 2022 season, Verstappen had won 15 races, and Leclerc, only 3.

I remember Senna with McLaren, Mansell with Williams, and Schumi with Ferrari. Vettel/RBR. And we’re oh so eager to forget Hamilton/Mercedes already. This little Verstappen thing? It’s nothing, just a statistical blip. Ok, 2023 was special. So? You were there to see it. You may be annoyed now, but in twenty years you’ll boast about it. You were there!

I just feel like British media has something against Max. Only a year into his dominance and they were talking like he had dominated for a decade! That’s bad journalism in my opinion. It’s like they were actively pushing away fans who were expecting competition and were being completely defeatist

I don't know if Red Bull would have won in Melbourne if Max didn't DNF. Ferrari was fast that weekend. The difference now is that Ferrari and McLaren are so close that RedBull can't storm back if they have a bad Saturday or drive off down the road.

There is not at the moment a title fight in 2024. If Max hadn't made a mistake in Q3 turn 1 he would hav got 2nd and probably would hav got a podium or top 5 finish. So RB are still competitive as there been the whole season.

Red Bull will respond with upgrades of their own. We can’t act like that 2 bad races at tracks where overtaking is not easy means they’ll lose the championship. I’m not trying to tarnish Lando and Charles’s wins but even with the pace McLaren had, Lando only won as the result of a perfectly timed safety car. Charles won at the track where overtaking is all but impossible, and the lap 1 incident meant teams could change their tyres during the red flag, leading to no pit stops for the leading pack. Not to mention how the narrowness of the track allowed Charles to back the McLarens up into Russell’s pit window. As soon as we hit more traditional circuits, Red Bull will go back to winning. Maybe not as much as in 2023, but it’ll be similar to 2019/22 where we see overall one-team dominance but more race wins from other teams.

The impact of Perez’s wreck at Monaco may be felt in terms of development. Convergence between McLaren and Ferrari will make the remaining races a genuine test for the constructors title and will also push Max hard for the drivers title.
