Unfortunately, Estoril is quite different from how it was in 1972-93. For 1994, they bypassed Tanque going over the hill with the Superbike chicane at Gancho. The big round of changes came in 1999, when they remade the place wholly for the bikes. The T1-T3 complex (now effectively T1-T4) was completely re-profiled. Curva 1 is now basically a hairpin. Curva 3, now called Lamy, is a hairpin, rather than a much more open carousel kind of corner. And Curva 2, which was a nice, rounded sweeper, is a much more abrupt kink. Finally, Parabolica was moved inward, presumably to make space for more run-off, which means there's really no straight between it and the Esses anymore. Then, for 2007, they moved the Esses, re-profiling that right/left, as well as the exit of Gancho. So, sadly, if there is to be a Portuguese GP again, my vote goes for Algarve. It was actually Berger that Patrese launched off of in '92. I was going to say it's gone a bit bonkers. That sounds more positive, right? Yeah, the idea of the '86 cars doing ~215 mph down the Brabham Straight at Adelaide in Qualifying is pretty insane when you think about it.

I don't know why I said Hakkinen instead of Berger. Just my brain having a moment I think 😅

This is the kind of car that would be best off with the gear shift on the wheel. I don’t know much about mortar sports because I only just got interested. but I wouldn’t be surprised if they started doing that right after this generation

Pretty much yeah. The first car to use paddle shifters in F1 was the Ferrari 640 in 1989 which was 1 year after the monstrous turbo-era had ended 👍
