Is This The Best Backpack Sprayer? Royal Condor Review 

The fact that it comes with various nozzles is great. A good tip is to place the sprayer on a 220L drum to get it on your back, saves bending at funny angles with 15-20kg. Good review Tim.

I picked up the Silvan battery-operated backpack sprayer that Bunnings stocks. It's pretty good, get 100+ litres out of it between charges which is more than enough one day. Just swap out the crappy plastic lance that comes with it for a decent metal one. Will take a look at adding some padding to the straps after seeing this - that's a neat feature.

Good morning, Tim, after years of the same small frustrations you had with the sprayer. I have moved to a power unit. I would like to point out that you are 200% correct about "Reading Label.", I was once asked by an elderly farmer why the stand I was working at Farm Fest had bright paddles for sale. I said they are for stirring your chemical tank. He gave me a strange look, and I pointed out that his arm was best to hold the drum & read the label, and not used to stir the concoction in the spray tank. Cheers

My Silvan backpack sprayer, I regularly give it a slosh around when it's full, before putting it on my back, I have also transported it full in the back of my vehicle numerous times, and I have never had a problem with it leaking through the breather. It also has a separate back section with the tank attached, and the harness is far better with both hip and sternum straps. Plastic internal pump, but it has stood up to years of regular use still.

To stop / reduce sloshing from the filler cap vent. Put a rag in the filling basket inside the lid. It cant slish out. Works for me. Had a bad vent leak. Now very minimal.

Thanks Tim, this review has helped me narrow down my backpack sprayer wish list. I have had my fair share of disappointment with sprayers over the years, even Solo have been found lacking. The only other sprayer on my list is the Jacto, any chance of reviewing one of those?

There are thousands of large backpack models out there for long-distance hikers, where a 15-20kg load is on your back for many hours, if not days, and a 10-15km walk is not uncommon. All the professional ones have large, padded, solid hip-straps, so that the entire weight is born on your strong hip muscles and bones, not on your shoulders. The shoulder strap is only used to keep the bag aligned on your back, usually with a chest strap for added stability. Is there any sprayer manufacturer that even thinks about those hip-straps? I'd be tempted to try and add one to this unit. Our terrain is rugged and walking is the only access to some areas.

Better not do that high pressure with roundup. Always go with the lowest pressure to still have a nice fan.

Can you apply liquid fertilizer/biostimulants to lawn with this sprayer?
