Ooowii, is this the BEST foldable shovel ever made!? I think so! The Fiskars Foldable Shovel has been with me 10 years through rain, mud, ice and saltwater on all my metal detecting trips to England, Denmark, USA, Germany and Finland. If you are looking for an awesome folding shovel for your treasure hunting trips I highly recommend this one! In the US the same foldable spade can be found under the Gerber brand name. Never in a million years did I think that I would ever do a video about a shovel, but I guess this is my life now when there is only snow around. If you liked the first review on our channel hit that LIKE button and tell me what is your favorite shovel! :)

What a great review video, thank you! I was researching a folding shovel for camping etc. I remember years ago there was a particular one that was standard NATO issue but forgot what is was. I watched a few comparison videos to see what was what these days and Fiskars came up. I own a Fiskars axe and saw so it made sense. Looked for some reviews of the spade in question and here I am. About a minute in I was thinking “ok Fiskars, shut up and take my money!” 😂 bought one whilst watching the rest of this great video 👍🏻

I agree with everything you said about this tool, its a superb piece of kit that the owner can rely on completely, whatever the conditions. I agree with you about the length, but that's the beauty of the compact folding design. Top quality sheath, too!

Moving the locking mechanism close the handle is such a good idea makes way harder for dirt and grit to get in the mechanism!! Great shovel great vid!

I have my Marine Corps entrenching tool from 1972. Handle is wood and I am sure the overall weight is a couple pounds heavier than yours. Adjust and operates the same as yours. Very good tool. Thanks for sharing your evaluation.

Damn I love it , just wish it could telescope longer somehow, would be cool if you could carry a center shaft accessory to lengthen it

I was so torn between getting something like this and the shovel I ended with! I have one from detektorshop here in DK that pretty much every person that detects here has. Its 86 cm, 990 grams and bright yellow, so you cannot miss it on the field! I might get a foldable later on if I want to travel with it.

Originally made in Finland, then also in the USA and now evidently no longer in Finland but in Poland. The American ones are decent but with a lot of reports of failures. I need to start using my USA made one more just to see if it fails.

Hi Michael. Most of Fiskars products are made in Finland. I could not find any information on this particular shovel tho. Thanks for supporting Finnish industry! :)

Those are nowdays made in Poland. Also Fiskars tri-fold shovels are bad, locking mechanism will get stuck every now and then.

Got a simmilar shovel....But i added a smal clip so it can be carried in/on my back pocket and leave a hand free for vaping........Love it,,,,

Unfortunately prices in US has increased to $99.99 for Fiskers and $118 for Gerber. Low supply high demand maybe?

Yes, have tried out a few of the cheaper ones. Would not recommend. This one on the other hand is awesome :)

1.3 kg is heavy for it's size. I would choose a full size shovel instead of it. There are Cheap titanium Spesnaz shovels, that are probably 2-3 times lighter than this. That being said, I guess it's the best quality folding shovel, just not for me!

True that, sometimes I prefer full size shovels. Better for the back. This one is good if doing lots of traveling, as we do. Have to look up those titanium Spesnaz shovels. Thanks for commenting :)

I have a similar British Army issue shovel that's stored in my SUV for emergency use...They are the last sort of shovel I would ever consider for detecting, although I can perhaps see their attraction if you are flying..They are just too short overall, and because the head is so small and they lack decent boot treads, it's difficult to drive them into hard ground with your boot...Even the cheap mini shovels are easier to use and are plenty strong enough if you don't abuse them too badly..I tend to use a narrow headed border or rabbiting spade...it does have small boot treads but I intend to get some slightly bigger ones added as they make a world of difference when your digging....

And what if the ground you are digging is full of rocks? Your BEST shovel is just going to hit the rocks, and it can't dig around them because they are too close together. A guy was digging out a huge area using a tool that was a small shovel on one side and a pickaxe on the other. And he also got a shovel like yours because it was apparently the best at quickly moving large amounts of earth. But he quickly stopped using that and then only used the pickaxe shovel.

E tools suck. Its not if they are gonna break its when. Even the fully metal Ames ones where known to have issues. Just grab a special forces shovel if the handle breaks you can find new ones everywhere or even make one.

funny watching you praise your shovels. I can think of nowhere a shovel would be part of my kit. Special picks yes shovels no. They cannot penetrate our soils. Unless you have a special small jack shovel LOL. Waiting for that cup too arrive.
