Nice looking fwd to see the times and improvements from the upcoming upgrades. Let’s see if it gets better numbers compared to the GT

FYI Poseidon parntered with Spindatt on the design of the Norton. I think its a great bike, and might buy one when I finally get a hardtail. My Polygon T8 is my all around bike right now.

I need an all around bike. A lightish xc bike for commuting that can handle a little abuse , want something fast and responsive

pretty bold of them to put Juintech hybrid brakes on it, sure, they might be a bit less effective than actual hydraulics, but I think they speak to the easy maintenance and longevity of it, I would love to try them for myself

Totally, they would be great for most average users. Super easy to maintain.

I have them on a trifox roadbike, it might not be MTB conditions but they are super reliable since 2021.. when you bleed the oil you have to cycle new oil in to be sure all the junk got out...

I ran them on my Norton for a season, then put them on a gravel bike and love them for what they are. I only upgraded because I got 4 piston DB8's for 65$ each

I have one of these bikes and have been riding it for the past two weeks. Same complaints about the cranks. I am afraid to swap them until I am in a bit better pedaling shape. I definitely found the limits of the tires in upstate NY. Hardpack is fine but roots and mud are a no go. I about ate it a few times. Just swapped to Schwalbe Magic Mary and Big Betty combo (tubeless) and I can't wait to ride it. Got as pinch flat my third time out.

Yeah, out here in my area roots and mud are non existent.

Polygon Xtrada is a damn fine bike on a budget. The Xtrada 6 seems comparable to this, but for a few more of your Freedom Bucks you get the 7 which comes with air forks and thru axles and an extra gear. Everything on them just works. Now that my son has outgrown his 6, I regularly jump on it if I know I'm going for a ride on the mild side. It'd just plain nice to ride. All standard but for Judy forks and a 180mm front rotor. (They didn't have the 7 when I was buying, and he'd been promised a new bike for his birthday, so I knew I'd be upgrading those.) Sorry for the blogpost.

I’ve heard a lot of polygons, but I’ve never had a chance to ride one yet.

@@MTBRadDad They're great bang for your buck. Was about to order one of their eMTBs, but there are some ridiculous sales here in NZ right now - can get a Commencal for the same price instead (need to find one to sit on for size first). Just bought a new pair of RC Hellion shoes for 30 and a pair of Conti enduro tyres for 90 of your Freedom Bucks.

It's an aluminium hardtail xc, 700usd is a normal price for a mid tier one, why were you so worried? I guess most of them aren't 130mm, 120mm is much more common.

I would say the poseidon for the pure fact is has proper thru axels. The Boost141 QR Drops outs on the rear will limit your ability to find new or replacement wheels in the future.

It's the typical budget bike review . Buy it and replace all the major components to make it capable instead of just spending a few hundred more and get a capable bike . The low bottom bracket is a no go for me . Pedal strikes have broken bones on me going downhill . The problem for newbies getting there first mountain bike is they are lacking experience and technique . Yes you buy budget because you don't know if this is for you and that makes sense financially but safety wise it can be a disaster . A less capable bike allows for allot less mistakes that the bike can compensate for . A full suspension bike is better in this respect over a hardtail . I could say most beginners should start on a full suspension and as they get more experienced graduate to a hardtail to further improve skills . Most of your crashes happen early in learning to ride a mountain bike . Safety should be priority over cost as a accident can be very costly .

I don't think most people need to upgrade components, but i'm not most people 😃

@MTBRadDad
@MTBRadDad 2 месяца назад
@@Bremmner_Explorations_1970 I think its all relative to your skillset and what you want to ride. For most people the bike in its stock form is capable. You could pick this bike up and then put the extra to putting on a nice Air fork.
@stevencole7331
@stevencole7331 2 месяца назад
@@Bremmner_Explorations_1970 . First and foremost a bike has to fit you well . If not it's going to be uncomfortable and could be a safety concern . Going to a bike shop and not Walmart is a good place to start to get fitted . You would not buy shoes that don't fit properly but many do. Bike needs some things first and foremost . Hydraulic Brakes,tubeless wheel capability , air shock and at minimum a 10 speed drivetrain . A tapered head tube with a fork that matches that . A dropper post to me is a necessity . A hardtail should not weight more than 32 lbs . You can find a bike like this for a grand but sales abound and you might get for under a grand but that's at the bottom of capable . Tires are the single best thing for riding comfort and capability . Tire pressure is the next thing . 29ers are the most versatile bike and 2.3 tires are the magic with size . I run pressures at 18 psi with my 165 pound frame . Go to a reputable bike shop . Try out multiple bikes and get a fit for the bike that's right for you . That's the key . It may not be the bike you want

ROFL Sounds like you not much stock left but the frame which does not speak well for the bike. Your message here is yea it's not bad for $700 but as soon as you can get this, this and this, right after.
