This redefined Bayverse Starscream toys. The DotM deluxe, MPM, and Studio Series figures all benefitted from the engineering concepts this figure introduced to the character.
I thought the DOTM toy was pretty darn good for its size, but I was a little worried about scaling it up for Studio Series. Getting it in hand though? I still wish the extenders under his wings were a little narrower so the loops on his hips could be a little more streamlined, but it's still better than I first thought. I actually sold my Leader version when the version with the Cybertronix glyphs came out, because as much as I loved the big one with all his gimmicks, the smaller size and easier transformation won me over.
This Starscream is so nostalgic for me, I had him from the end of elementary school all the way to high and he may even be hiding somewhere to this day, I still remember both his quotes perfectly "No one can defeat Starscream!" And "Decepticons will crush the Autobots"
This was the figure that made me start collecting these again! I found him on a bottom shelf of an antique mall for $50 CAD and swiped him, since then sparking my love for this franchise again. Love this figure to death and he has a special place in my heart and on my shelf!
Hunt for the Decepticons has weirdly the best toys at the time. Especially their Deluxe Bee was a huge leap forward, and that slightly miniaturized Optimus
I wanna say this weirdo was released as a Master Piece figure in Japan before the actual MPM line started, and I've gotta say, he deserved it! I've gotta say, I do think he's better than the MPM in all ways other than "screen accuracy", as he even poses better in a lot of ways. He's also actually fun to mess with, while I HATE transforming the MPM with a passion.
I agree that he's awesome. I chose to not upgrade to the MPM due to my appreciation of the quality of engineering of this figure. Wish he had rotating wrists though.
I found this guy at a Value Village a few years ago for cheap. Electronics still worked, he just didn't have his weapons and he was missing parts of his wings, but he was fun to mess with. I think I sold him in a garage sale last year though
I have this lad standing on my PC right now. I bought him for $15 at a Flea Market and I had to buy his gun on eBay for....$20. Be happy his electronics don't work. He doesn't shut up the whole time I transform him.
I remember the left arm on my copy broke at that butterfly joint. Thankfully it didn't impact things too much since it could tab somewhere else in both modes. It actually opened up some interesting display options. Like giving his severed arm to Megatron or Ironhide, or even a plush animal.
I mean, the MPM1 version is just a repaint of this in what's supposed to be the 2007 color scheme (but SS06 Starscream does it so much better), while MPM10 (which you may have been referring to) is an entirely new mold. So it's just pick your poison: HftD, MPM1, MPM10, or MPM10R (the RotF/DotM repaint of MPM10 with all them fugly Cybertronian glyphs on it). It'll be funny if the Masterpiece Movie line lasts long enough to see yet ANOTHER Starscream as MPM44...maybe Bumblebee Movie Starscream for that?? 😏😏😏
See, I like the ROTF/DOTM tattoos on Starscream. I think they are interesting plus they spice up his aesthetic (though its also because DOTM is my favorite Bay film).
I love Studio Series and all but Hasbro needs to do some straight up re realeses not just from Bayformers figure's but Animated,Prime and Beast Machines, but not all of them to still give the Legacy line a purpose
Love that you love it as well, he was my second Starscream (first I got was the ROTF Voyager) and is my go-to Transformer to show off to friends and/or family whenever they want to see my collection. I agree that there is something very satisfying in the way he transforms, and the gimmicks are perfect. Also, I like the weapon storage for the missile launcher and I think the jet mode looks very clean. And that's not all, for he has stood the test of time so well. If you can get it guys, don't miss on old Screamer, you are gonna love him!
I got my copy years ago for 30 canadian, which was what voyagers used to sell for. That discount retailer is long gone, but I regret not picking up the Optimus Prime leader as well that they also had at the time.
I have always wanted this figure since my childhood and I just got him on my birthday, the one I got is absolutely fantastic! It still feels like it's new even after 14 years
You may want to be careful, that looks like it might be the same brown/gold plastic that they used on ROTF Stratosphere. Would be a shame if anything happened to this rare gem.
I recently paid a little under 80 at a collectible store new in box I did take them out of the box because electronics weren’t working but luckily they worked fine after I change the batteries and other than that not having wrist swivels this has to be my favorite leader class figure I own.
Only movie Screams I have is voyager 07 deep space and DOTM Deluxe. Which a massive place in my heart for the 07 since my dad got it me before it went to the shelf, but I recently got the deluxe dotm one and it really impressed me.
i somehow got extremely lucky and got both masterpiece and this for £65. Asides the black knee pads on this leader tending to fall off at times they are both mint condition with all accessories. Very thankful for this video to get me searching for him and finding it cheap because he’s just far more satisfying to handle than mpm accuracy aside!
Bro I remember finding this in a thrift store without his weapons but his whole forking leg was just broken off at the thigh and I was like "bro had his leg amputated💀"
Fun fact: before the actual MPM mold came out (hell, before the modern MPM line as we know it even started, really), Takara actually sold this figure in the Masterpiece line with the '07 movie color scheme.
@@jeebus2313 MPM-1 was in the same scale and everything. It was screen accurate. It actually has a better jet mode. It's a _literal movie masterpiece figure._ The first one. Of a series that has continued since then up until the present day, with basically the same approach. What distinction are you trying to make here?
I had one of these when I was younger. I gave my mom most of my transformer toys a few years ago. She lost them all though. The only one I have left from my youth is my Cybertron prime leader. Pain.
i had one that i sold, i modified it so the cockpit canopy opens in jetmode tho the hinge was in the wrong place so reverse canopy lol. rewired its lights and switches so you can turn his eye on. also did a chest mod that gives him that movie chest pecks similar to mpm
You need to start linking your videos of the toys you bring in for comparisons in the description. I would watch the links and it would give your channel more traction to move around to more of your content.
He doesn't always have reviews for all of them, so he'd have to go back and update stuff after the fact which is annoying and probably won't help much. Most views come from the first day or so after it's posted.
i use to have this troy and brought it to school for show and tell and it was the very first one i could transform on my own but it broke on me that day and i was very sad
I got the Takara MPM version loose for cheap back when I was living in Japan. I was just going to take a look at it, and then sell it on - not a Bayverse fan generally, though there were some good offscreen toys. I'm never selling this guy, he's amazing.
just copped him for a dollar at a Goodwill cuz they sell toys by the pound😂 only thing I doing have is the accessories but it's clean, pristine, no scratches, no scuffs, and electronics all intact and working.
The master piece is a much better toy in robot mode, but the leader is better in jet mode . He hides much more the robot parts, and underneath looks more like a real jet. I still have this jawn, and I own the masterpiece, too. I wanna grab the MPM10R Revenge of the Fallen.
I remember when I was around 7 or 8, I went to DDs with my parent's, and I saw this figure in the toy section for 15 bucks. Idk who brought it there or what the situation was, because it was brand new still in the box with the lights and sounds. To this day I don't forgive them for not letting me get it
Flaws all aside still my favorite Leader class out of any era of Transformers. This guy was I think $65 Canadian back in the day whereas the Leaders now minus the size/electronics are closer to $75-$80. Subjectively complete and in working order 120 I feel is a good price for one considering it would be closer to Commander Class if released today.
This is the last transformer I kept. Sold the rest in 2018 and I regret it. Gonna start collecting again bc of ROTB and seeing this vid made me happy bc he’s the only guy I own currently!
....Hilariously I found this guy at First Monday for like, $10, didn't have his weapon or missile, it was just him by itself, but sounds like that was a steal, lol.
I want this guy so bad. I had a chance to get him a few years ago but passed him up for Siege Optimus as I was just getting back into collecting and felt that Optimus should be the first figure I get.
Love this figure, especially when I first got him. I still prefer the MPM but this one is great. Oh yeah, for some reason, I was like hmm, let me remove his electronics, Idk why I did, I'm guessing it was for some mod that allows more head articulation but can't remember.
TTG, I agree with you in this vid, but IMO Nitro Zeus is leaps & bounds better that Bayverse Starscream! I don't like ALOT of Bayverse designs, but theres some I do like, such as Nitro Zeus, AOE High Octane Bee, TLK Megs, TLK Barricade, & others!
