I think the biggest appeal Peru Kill has is the transformation itself, it borders on black magic not because it can change between 2 VERY different modes with near to no traces of each other, but because the transformation is relatively simple, it's super efficient, they didn't overengineer anything.
I don’t even like Lockdown’s movie design and I don’t even love lockdown but Peru Kill is quite possibly on of the single best transforming toys I’ve ever seen in my life.
With lockdown being one of my personal favourite characters because of aoe and cyberverse, animated, the idea of him being a cool looking bounty hunter with a great personality like sixshot and Cannon ball, its just unique and fits him,i hope to see the bounty hunters get attention in the future toylines not gonna lie
Fun fact: RotF Lockdown has officially been repurposed as G1 Lockdown, by Hasbro themselves! Which makes AoE Lockdown the only canonical movie incarnation of said character!
Legacy was a great time for lockdown to return as his animated inspired “G1” look. His introduction to the franchise is definitely legacy worthy and I just really want an updated HFTD design
I own the original UT Peru Kill, and I could see instantly that the details on the KO are a lot worse than on the original. It's also pretty apparent that not only is the sculpt a lot worse on that KO, but it's also missing details and paint apps. Peru Kill is by no means a perfect figure, but I have a feeling a lot of your complaints come from that KO specifically, as the original looks a lot better visually. At least on my copy, everything tabs in securely with no issues whatsoever. Everything works very smoothly without issue and I haven't had any problems with it at all (although again it could just be my copy).
I think you're spot on. There are actually two KO version of Peru Kill: one from Visual Toys (the one in the video) and one from BSL Toys. Visual Toys has a slicker paint job in all black, which looks really cool but the robot mode lacks a lot of paint apps. BSL Toys' Peru Kill on the other hand is pretty much a 1:1 copy of the Unique Toys version, and is virtually indistinguishable from it, unless you're really looking for defects.
I own the original Peru kill and just want to corroborate everything you said. Completely agree, his issues are very likely due to the knock off version he has
Rotf lockdown: i mean it's alright like Aoe lockdown: i mean it's alright like Studio series lockdown: this is the biggest piece of dawg sheet 3rd party lockdown: perfect in everyway possible
The 3rd party "VT-01 Hunter" figure is the best, but made INFINITELY better with the upgrade kit that gives him his spark extractor and another face gun.
I'll say that while SS looks a bit like what he looks like, Peru Kill is my favorite. I own the 4th Party/KO: Visual Toys 01 Bounty Hunter, while not better than Peru Kill, I did add some paint on my own to make him what I want him to look like.
I like how lockdowm is much different then most transformers villains in the movie. What i hate about the UT one is it has a specific artoculation on bending the knees....
First off, I had to hit "like" as soon as you did that ratchet walking away bit! Also, I'm glad you also like Lockdown the most of all the movie villains! He's freaking badass. I modded and painted my SS figure to be much better, which helps a lot. I really hope another company does another stab at a better and more detailed MPM Lockdown.
My favorite is Peru kill I don’t like the ROTF lockdown and the SS version is too kibble and clear plastic and the AOE version it’s to wide and it’s the wrong color but I do like the gun face
This what I think I agree with your opinion it the ss does have more detail over Peru kill and I actually think that the face sculpture of the ss is more accurate than Peru kill but it falls of short die to the kibble but it is a deluxe so it’s understandable though I prefer Peru kill way more I do think his a bit to flat on his body same goes with the legs but it is the most accurate even though the head looks like megamind but other than that I think that Peru kill is the best lockdown in my opinion
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels the way you do about Peru Kill. I just can’t pull the trigger on him. I LOVE Lockdown but I agree with everything you said about him and really hope they do a 2.0. (I’m also dying for a TLK mpm scaled transformable Bumblebee)
My dad is still amazed at how much Peru Kill compresses going from robot to car. A 2.0 version would be cool but Idunno if I would be willing to spend money on another expensive 3rd party Lockdown from Unique Toys.
Every single one of them it's good it's anyone opian tho but still all all are the best every lockdown in the vid is the best and I love lockdown he one of my fav bounty hunters
Out of all the lockdown I definitely would want to try and get the rotf one just because he looks really cool and prefer his style overall over the movie ones
Hey that toy guy I know this isn’t the right video but I would like to know where you got your legacy wave 1 figures also love your videos and I can’t believe I forgot to subscribe until now.
He also makes it when not wearing his mask. It's just his... "sound". A couple other Bayverse characters have "sounds" that they emit randomly, such as Starscream.
I believe the first toy f lockdown you showed was based on the lockdown from the dark of the moon (?) game for the DS. I recognize that design from playing the game as a kid.
On the topic of Ratchets death. It's probably the only one that had an impact on the plot. Jazz died boohoo but whatever, Optimus just goes "We lost a great comrade" then keeps monologuing. Ironhide? Literally no one talks about or even grieves him. With Ratchet, Optimus genuinely gets mad and attacks KSI out of rage
I feel like if Hasbro and Takara had taken their time with the Studio Series instead of putting out figures in a row we would have had something better with Lockdown How it happened with Hot Rod from 86, a figure that by standards would be a deluxe but with the number of accessories it came with and the steps to transform it left it like a voyager. Something similar could have been done with Lockdown
I’m with you there Lockdown in AoE was great - especially like his line to Attinger about the centre of the universe. I just picked up Unique Toys Peru Kill and it is my favourite movie figure between it, UT’s Challenger & Dragoon, and DX9’s La Hire. It’s probably the weakest in terms of engineering but I just really like the design of both modes
I like the ROTF figure of Lockdown mainly because of you can just change him from a Deluxe toy to a Voyager toy to an Ultra class (modern WFC Leader class) toy because of his legs. Also finding the toy for $20-$30 will not be easy because he goes for quite a lot on the aftermarket....I was lucky to find some British dude selling him for £45 something. Guess he wasn't aware of what the demands on this figure were if you compare it to other listings on eBay
Yk the tf R.E.D line would be perfect for not just AOE lockdown but alot of the other live action characters that we got who has pretty much human syndrome which let's be honest even if it does not transform a tf R.E.D lockdown would be the best official lockdown made by Hasbro if they even think to do it bc hey people love lockdown and people will eat that up more than your G1 Optimus or megatron and so on and so fourth lol. But love this vid dood
Coincidently just got this KO Peru Kill today. Don't have any other Lockdowns, that's my first one. Still need to get that studio series... also mine came with a lot of QC issues. He can't even stand because the knees are to loose. I'll try disassembling it later an try something with super glue. (Didn't worked btw. You know what, I'll probably just gonna buy Peru Kill . )
omg i used to have the 2009 lockdown, though pretty sure it resembles Animated more but whatever, my goofy ahh self as a kid decided to take that lockdown for a swim, i never saw him again, (i lost him in the water). somewhere in eagle lake he is probably still there.
I didn't expect you to be so critical on Peru kill. Every reviewer I have seen review him says that he is nearly perfect. A lot of your criticisms were weird but I do see where you're coming from with most of them. Still, good video.
There's also a rare upgrade kit for ROTF Lockdown. Dark-ism - DI-F02 NLD-face. You have to import from japan though when it's available. T_T It gives Lockdown, an IDW inspired headsculpt. If you can get it, then it makes for a great generations style animated Lockdown. Together with Super Megatron, Blitwing, and Lugnut, it makes for a cool generations animated Decepticon display.
I know I'm in the minority here but the only thing I didn't like about age of extinction was its length. Waaaaay too much human small talk and one liners imo. Other than that, I thought Kelsey Grammer and Stanley Tucci actually brought decent acting for a change imo.
I just got peru kill coz my studio series figure broke and MAN. I LOVE IT. It's near perfect. Only warning is be careful with his windows parts coz they're clear plastic and the pin can fall out if not
I got the aoe one when it came out them I lost it so I was happy there was a studio series then when I got it after a few months both arms snapped at the bicep and now the lockdown figure is just cursed for me
I don’t remember the name of the figure, but there is an orange redeco of SS Lockdown that comes with a rifle designed like Lockdown’s spark extractor, which is also a necessary weapon that I’ve long since given to Lockdown permanently. Still no gunface, le sigh.
If you have money, buy Movie Advanced (Takara Tomy) version & Shadow Raider as well, their accessories can be used for the Studio Series Lockdown. Do note that the head gun version CAN be utilized by using the AOE version's head to SS body. The UT Peru Kill is actually good, *however* i don't like the fact that his hands didn't have individual articulated fingers, which should've been accomplished in a Masterpiece scale figures.
aoe lockdown shares engineering with dotm roadbuster, which is really weird, even weirder is that it is not the only toy to do so and the studio seres shares engineering with cogman, to a larger degree than the aoe one
UT lockdown may look weird for you but for me its actually perfect. considering that he's almost optimus prime's height and transforms into a small-ass lamborghini that scales with the MPM cars, thats the reason why things may look off compared to the CGI. dont blame the toy, but blame the designers of lockdown 😂
The studio series one feels super lazy to me, especially since they pulled off both 86 hot rod AND 93 hot rod. I personally put peri kill at the top because it’s playability is great, it comes with more accessories and the conversion is just mind blowing. And I think it’s without a doubt more movie accurate than studio series
Yeah, Peru Kill is just one of the best transformers of all time, let alone the best movie Lockdown, it’s no contest. RotF Lockdown is one of my favorite Hasbro movie figures ever though.
