It's still better than the crap we've seen in the Giro for the past 3 years and the unwatchable 2021 TdF · 2020 Giro = Tao vs Jai vs Wilco · 2021 Giro = Egan vs nobody · 2022 Giro = Jai vs not-2019 Carapaz vs Landiocre In the 2022 Vuelta we're literally seeing the future of grand tour cycling with Remco, Ayuso and Carlitos (all under 22 years old) plus Almeida is 24, Mas is 27 and Superman López is 28

@@DanArnets1492 2020 giro was one of the most memorable in recent years to be honest with 0s between 1st and 2nd on the final TT. 2021 wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either and 2022 at least had some good stories despite the lack of real tension on gc. TDF 2021 was setting up to be one of the most entertaining tours in recent memory until roglic crashed, that first week was awesome apart from the crashes.

Totally agree, Roglic being out really deflated this Vuelta for me. If I feel devastated it must be absolutely tragic for Roglic. :( However I concur that this stage was awesome and the battle for this stage win was one of the best so far this tour. Thrilled for Urans win he definitely deserved it. I was on the edge of my seat for this final climb. Awesome!!

I wonder how different it would be without the like of kuss alaphilippe and rogla abandoning. remco certainly looks inevitable with only 1 man to worry about. stage 20 seems to be mas’ only chance to take time, but i don’t think he can crack remco unless he had terrible legs in the last few days

indeed i dont see remco losing the vuelta to mas, his only threat would be miguel angel lopez had he not lost the GC the first week and anyway this years vuelta isnt made for gaining time on the last stages unless someone has a really bad day, with primoz rest day the jumbo visma would definitely have planned an all out assault at the following climbs, such a shame.

That was always the case. It was and is going to be won or lost on stage 20. Which is why Roglic's attack was so unnecessarily risky for minimal gain.

Right. Also consider Movistar basically just got an extra 100 points with Mas moving to 2nd overall. If he can hold it it will basically nullify the points from the stage win today. It really will come down to the small euro races and what Lotto can do there.

@@samuelberton3778 I agree, ideal average gradient is between 8% and 10%, on a lower gradient they climb at 30 km/h, on a higher one, as you said, there are rarely attacks.

I think the possibility of Mas winning the Vuelta is still pretty big. The climbs of tomorrow and saturday get steeper and longer, and I think Mas is in perfect form... ... but let's hope for Remco! 🤞

@@patpat8727 If you're talking about the stage he crashed - Rogla was moving up fast before the 3KM banner. If you're implying that Remco already had a mechanical at that point, surely the 3KM wouldn't have counted and it was Remco "cheating" instead? :D Love me some Remco (Crazy how much he has grown since his crash), but Rogla does a great job at making stages interesting in a legit way. Even when he's in the lead he still does things to make races interesting.

@@Adanteh "Rogla was moving up fast before the 3KM banner. " Nope. He was head of the peloton at about 5k but then dropped back quite a few wheels. He went back to the front when Evenepoel started to slow down bc he had a problem and didn't stop when Remco had to change bikes. That would have been the smart thing to do rather than going Leroy Jenkins and trying to outsprint sprinters over a few seconds. But that's pretty obvious now given that he crashed himself out of the race with only himself to blame.

A question many have asked. Having Almeida, Ayuso (& Soler to a degree) the UAE DS is herding cats. Ayuso open says that he should be leader whereas the putative leader was/is Almeida.

@@epincion They may have started with Almeida as their leader, but we are in week 3 now with Ayuso in a podium spot and Almeida 2 minutes behind him. As soon as Ayuso has a gap on Rodriquez, Almeida should’ve dropped and pulled him all the way to the line instead of gaining meaningless 20 seconds on GC for himself.

The leader really has already so little time after a stage: cooldown, cleaning up, interviews, podium ceremonies, ... That isn't the time to try and interact with them, normally a fan shouldn't even be able to get to them at that moment. And the way the fan acted also was far from respectfull. Remco likely already interacts quite a bit with fans outside the view of camera's.

Riders need to draw a line somewhere, what if tomorrow there are multiple people waiting there having seen he signed that jersey? And the day after? etc. This was not an appropriate moment for this and they never even should have been able to get there.

@@ugastronomie1237 he knew he couldnt win tour the france so he quit. He lets his team down. He didn't help Jonas and yes he did fall but if he was first in the overal classement he would've stayed. Also Wout van Aert helped him numerous times. When it was time for him to help Wout a week later , he did a race in the middle of the week on cobbles just to try, his legs were so bad a couple of days later that he couldnt help Wout for a minute. If he can not win it doesnt matter to him. He can only ride for himself and never for somebody else

I give him credit for hanging around and helping? And I guarantee it was a team decision for him too leave and get ready for the Vuelta..I've never seen anything that shows hes a selfish rider? Unless you have other examples?
