Oh nice. You got one in this color before they sold out. If SM keeps putting out brilliant original designs, 20 years from now, if not sooner, people are going to completely forget they were a Rolex/Tudor Homage brand. Thanks for the great review!
@@Ghosy01My point is not that Toyota will make people never think of Mercedes. Mercedes will always be Mercedes. But if Toyota started off just making copies of Mercedes, but now make great cars of their own, people will hopefully forget they were once a company that only made copies of Mercedes. And now know them just for making great Toyota’s. I don’t even know if I’m making sense. Ha!😅
It is a beauty. I agree with your comments on the bezel, and the brown part of the bezel seems to have just a hint of wine color in it which I find very appealing.
Cool review, I think it's the prettiest one outside of the red dragon. The close ups make no prisonners 🤣 oh well, I think it's good, anyone can make up their mind as to what QC they may expect for that price. I for one think we have way too much GMTs too. It'll change. If you ever come across one with a power reserve indicator, that you'd find attractive, I'd be delighted to watch a review from you. It is a useful complication, I imagine it must cool seeing it going up and down, but it's very rare especially on the 38/39mm market.
Thank you, yes the dragon version is quite something. Your right for the price its well worth it however the alignment of the double baton is annoying and I did not expect to see that. I cant see it with the naked eye though. You are right about a power reserve its a good feature but until SM decide to use only Seiko movements you will never see other types of complications. I believe Sea-Gull has a power reserve movement but I dont think Miyota has. I will suggest it to my contact at SM all the same as you never know....!
Great review thanks 👍. I really like this case style and bracelet, I bought the blue dial version of the sn0116 last year and it is one of my favourite watches. Incidently mine was well regulated with minimal beat error too.
I have to say the blue / teal one from last year was a masterstroke from SM. Think they sold bucket loads of them and why not as its a fantastic design and dial colour. I am pleased they have now released this and other colour versions. Thanks for watching.
even after pointing it out. once you zoom out i can hardly notice it. its too small to notice. however if they were skewed to the left or right that would be more obvious
I have to say, I also love the dial, colours size of the watch itself, the bezel is reminisce of the Pepsi style. but to be honest not a fan of the strap. I would prefer a plainer brushed look. As the work I do would fill the links with wood dust etc. great review as always, keep safe mate.
Fair enough mate I like a beads of rice bracelet as they wear really comfy. This one is taking its colour inspiration from the Rolex Root beer. I just don’t like to mention that in videos as that brand has the power to close your channel !
Is it possible to reliably restore the factory water resistance after the case back is opened up or is it something that requires special testing equipment? Can most watch repair places do this and/or is it not worth it on these budget watches?
Yes. It has not really been compromised anyway. I have just re greased the gasket and screwed the back on tightly but not over tight. Gaskets are still very new and supple. I do have a watch pressure tester but I don’t use it often . Non of my watches ever see water anyway.
Hi. Is the date wheel a bit misaligned? At the start of the review (and at 14:40 onwards) it's only 10:30 in the morning of the 24th and 25 is already starting to show...Seems odd for a San Martin?
No it was set at 10:30 pm by mistake. You can’t misalign a date wheel on an NH movement from factory. Just an error on my part in filming the outdoor shots.
Looks very similar to the Microbrand Monta GMT. It would be interesting to see which came first. It’s still a nice looking watch but that date window has a major issue with the date wheel. They seemed misaligned.
I have noticed that Baltany have a moon phase watch in their catalogue. Its a quartz and a dress watch but I might ask them to sent me one to see if I can drum interest in that complication.
It's a Doozy. The dial imperfection could be worse. I've got an Accurist from the 1990s were one of the batton indicies was put on upside down. All the others have the chamfer pointing towards the pinion but the one at 2 is the other way around?! Personally I like a little but of imperfection being imperfect myself.
@@mywatchreviews I'm English too - it's a good thing - I believe it is American slang used to liken something to the Duesenberg luxury car brand from the 1930s.
What you have to also take into consideration is this was made early last year by SM. They are open to say it’s their design and truthful when they are homaging .
I’d say it does not look like that one any after just looking at Russ’s video. Nice guy Russel got to know him over the last few years and restored his Seiko Pogue for him
@@mywatchreviewsit’s a nice looking watch, and obviously aimed at a different market to to the Monta. I just had a ‘double take’ moment when both of your review vids appeared next to each other in my feed. 😊. Good review tho, I always look forward to your vids on both your channels 👍🏻
Their prices are reasonable and in line with many others. They say they regulate and I can’t say they do or don’t but the Seiko specs from factory are much wider than this was even running. Please bear in mind these are $20 movements (bought in bulk). Totally machine and robot made/ assembled. It’s not chronometer standard and never will be. For me to regulate this one it took a good 5-10 minutes so if you had to do 100s off these that’s very time consuming. Want better accuracy then they need to use better grade movements which will then ramp up the price.
Nice review and I do agree GMT is becoming more mainstream because of Seiko new movements NH 34 however, moon phase complications are the most useless out there lol😂
Really cool design, but the quality is really lacking. The date doesn't line up. Hands edges are super jankey, and the end links dont seem tight.. If they would up the quality even if it will cost double, I'll get one...
This is an interesting reply. Date window is not lining up because I mistakenly set it at the start of the recording in PM so the movement is actually in transition to change for 12. Personally thought that would have been obvious but thats my naivety. You give my any watch up to £1000 and magnify the hands by 100+ and you will see the same rough edges. The production of hands make them all like this as they are just stamped / pressed out. with the naked eye you will never see this. How do you judge the end link tightness when I dont show it. Trust me they are tight, its actually something that annoys me as when i remove the bracelets (which I do) they are a real pain to fit back in with springbars loaded inside Honestly for the money they ask you wont find better quality. I have worked on 100s of watches on my bench and the steel work on San Martins compared to say Seiko is considerably better. I am not paid to say any of this just being honest.
@@mywatchreviews look at tissot watches up close and you wont see such rough edges, SanMartin edges are actually visible to the naked eye... btw even tudor hands are stamped.
Disagree other than the colour on the bezel. Case is different, hands, indices , date & bracelet, no crown guard . You could say it’s got its colour inspiration from it but that’s about it.
These brands are now trying to expand our of homage budget kings and into their own name, not to be an alternative that the average can afford, but their own brand. Higher prices will keep coming I'm afraid.
I think your not used to paying for seikos at the ad's, this watch beats it in, finishing, brushing, bracelets and clasps for a quarter of the the price, you are getting spoilt on a watch like this
As a guy who works on 100s of watches a year I can say that some of the Swiss stuff is not much better. A lot of big brands actually get parts and cases made in china. Their dials may be finished better and hands but you would expect that when you are paying £1000+ You want to read up on what makes “Swiss Made” as you might be surprised how little has to be done in Switzerland! The brand Nove for instance , boldly claim to be Swiss made. All emails I’ve had from them to review all come from china . Google Swiss made scam and you will see what I am talking about. As for working on them , nearly all are Seiko movements that any watchmaker can work on although it’s cheaper to just buy a new movement than actually service it (don’t get me started on that !)
What an incredibly dumb uninformed and archaic opinion. By all means continue to broadcast to everyone that you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.
The watch was simply after 10pm and the date was beginning to change over. SM seems to aim for the full flip over at 12am. Later you see the “31” is fine.
