Beautifully done. Looks like a piece that will be enjoyed for more than one generation.

Beautiful. A few times, I thought, “Why’s he doin’... What’s with the... How does that...” but just like a Bob Ross painting, it came together in the end as the work of art it is. This has a simple, yet timeless style that can fit with any aesthetic and I would say it could very well last that child’s life and on. Well done.

Great work on the finished product as well as the video! Thanks for sharing this! My wife and I are about to have our first baby and I'd love to be able to make something like this. It may not be as good as yours, but to quote a saying I recently came across, "Done is better than perfect, because perfect never gets done." 🙂

This is my first request for a shop tour! Spoiler alert.. it's just a shed at the end of my garden 😂. I'm planning to revamp it this year so maybe I'll make a video out of the process!

Mate, this is really really awesome and you have a fantastic attention to detail. you really take a lot of pride in your work judging by these time consuming videos, well done ! If you don't mind me asking what table saw are you using? I am just a beginner at woodworking and bewildered at where to start with what tools I need. Kind regards , stay safe.
@NeilLovegrovemaker
@NeilLovegrovemaker 4 года назад
Thank you! Glad you appreciate the effort involved! My table saw is an Evolution Rage 5S. It's a semi-cheap beginners saw. But if you're starting off if suggest just getting some hand tools for a few projects. The expensive power tools save time but starting with the basics really help get a feel for what you need

Love the vinyl interior, where did you get it from if you don’t mind me asking. After looking online none seem to look as good as yours.
@NeilLovegrovemaker
@NeilLovegrovemaker 3 года назад
It's actually sold as a faux leather table cloth fabric! I got this off the reel from The Range.

@@NeilLovegrovemaker Thanks! Another question if you don’t mind (sorry I’m very new to diy), did you use soft or hardwood plywood for the project?
@NeilLovegrovemaker
@NeilLovegrovemaker 3 года назад
Happy to answer questions! I used soft wood for the body and hard wood for the lid... But mainly because of the dark real wood colour

How many inches do the soft close hinges need to operate? I made a bench with an area under the top lid to store gloves and caps. It's only 3" deep.

Depends on how you mount them. They should he able to fit into a pretty tight space

One nooby question... why is the base of the box raised?
@NeilLovegrovemaker
@NeilLovegrovemaker 3 года назад
Good question! It was so that the box 'stuck' to the carpet. With a large smooth bottom a heavy box could be pushed around a carpeted floor early which isn't ideal when little climbers can push it to be able to climb up on something.

I want to produce a similar box for my grandchildren for xmas. Can i Ask the dimensions you made yours?
@NeilLovegrovemaker
@NeilLovegrovemaker 3 года назад
From memory, this was 1000mm wide, 500mmdeep, and 600mm tall. In hindsight it was a tad on the large side which made it harder to work with. Just remember not to build it wider than your door frame!

Ok ok ok, so the bottom piece of wood was just lifted with a spare piece of wood and then just screws from the outside?!
