Well done. I've never been a Crossfitter but I've been watching you for 2 or 3 years now. Crossfit the company is not Crossfit the community. It's not time to give up on our local boxes is time to have those conversations and allow room for growth. It's a fascinating, exciting, terrifying time of change across the world. I look forward to your views on the world through the world of fitness.
This video that you've made has provided my community and myself healing and information we wouldn't have had otherwise. My wife and I have done CrossFit together 5 days a week for the last 3 years. Your channel helped us get motivated to start and continue CrossFit. CrossFit has been so rewarding for us as a couple. Keep being you--both Craig and Jaz. Your potential is ridiculous. You're going to do some really great things and I'm thankful for you. Trust yourself and your own guidance. You're unique in the best of ways. ✊
@@logananaya This video is bashing the CEO of "CrossFit" the company. Not the style of training that millions of people have come to love, or the thousands of people that have been associated with CrossFit. This is just bashing Greg Glassman himself.
I think this just reinforces something many have been feeling for a while: That Crossfit leadership culture has been poor for a long time and if Crossfit is to continue it is desperately in need of new leadership. Greg Glassman should step down for good.
I understand that it's somewhat unlikely as Glassman is currently the only shareholder of Crossfit Inc., but if he simply sold those shares he could remove himself to his and the community's benefit. But if he doesn't, I know we'll be kicking it under a different brand.
@@johnbraun3806 Why shouldn't he profit? His views don't change the fact of what he built. The idea that because you think he is a racist or an asshat his company should be worth nothing makes no sense. He is not profiting because of his opinions. CrossFit is a real thing. It has value.
Thank you for making this video! As a Black woman in the US, it breaks my heart that a sport I love to watch and follow has a "leader" that does not stand with us. The numerous people within the CrossFit community taking a stand is honestly amazing and it gives me hope for a brighter future.
Thank you for your input. As an African American cross fitter, I was heartbroken. The crossfit community has been nothing but loving and supportive. The gravity of the George Floyd murder and the issue of racism is so heavy and traumatic. It makes me cry. Greg Glassman's words were insensitive, hurtful and unacceptable. Black Lives Matter is in place to simply say, we matter as well. We should be included in the collective so that "All lives matter" can be an 100% true statement.
What happened to G.F. was horrible and shouldn't have, but that has nothing to do with racism. When is the last time protests, etc... happened in this country for any other race besides black when they suffered the same fate by police? Using the death of someone, in this instance G.F. to cause a societal uproar over different issues is horrible and should never be tolerated.
I think you're missing the point. What happened to George Floyd has happened to many others. It's not only about his murder, but also the lack of concern and justice for African American and Latino people as a result of a broken racist justice system. There is so much history behind this I encourage you to research. Glassman's statement of referring to George Floyd (Saying his full name is more respectful than G.F. but I digress) as a global pandemic that is ruining and impacting lives all over the world shortly after his murder was completely insensitive and poor word choice in the midst of the current racially charged social climate. Whether you agree that his statement was racist or not it was still wrong. Crossfit is supposed to be about community, love, support and understanding. Crossfit is about a sense of family. If this is truly the crossfit way, then Glassman's statement should have never been said. At the bare minimum, he could've recorded a heartfelt video apology. His tweet apology seemed so insincere. I encourage you to ask yourself if you do crossfit if anyone at your box was hurt or offended by Glassman's statement would you try to empathize with their hurt and try to understand the deeper layers? Or would you downplay the situation and explain how Glassman's statement was not racist and dismiss how insensitive the statement is also dismissing the hurt of a fellow crossfiter? If you have any African American or Latino friends I would encourage you to talk to them and ask questions systemic racism and their experience. It goes so much deeper than Glassman's statement, but if you dialogue with someone of color and heard their first hand experiences, it may help in better understanding why Glassman's statement was racially insensitive. Be blessed 🙏🏾
Two things need to happen. 1) Glassman needs to go and 2) The other top tier athletes need to follow Chandler's and Noah's example and "boycott" the 2020 games.
I like what Noah had to say about calling it Community Fitness. Maybe call it COMFit? I started watching your channel a week ago and have pretty much binged the last year of videos. Keep it up guys!
Craig keep your head up, it's clear how moved you are. Remember that by being the good person you are, you are helping so much. Today I feel treally honored to be a part of HSTL.
I think back to the video where you guys got to do an interview with Greg Glassman and it was, in my opinion, It was clear that he was a difficult person to work with and perhaps you could just straight up say he’s an asshole
Long time listener, first time commenter! It's easy to say it now, but this sad episode exposes the weaknesses of the current CrossFit organisation. One tweet by one person jeopardises thousands of people's way of living. The community can reorganise and overcome this! I think the best example of a community sports model is the GAA (Gaelic Athletics Association) in Ireland. No egos, just a love for sports. Also, on the commUNIty fitness.. 'UniFit'?
A lot of people have known about Glassman for a long time. He nurtures many of the worst elements online. It’s cliche to call someone “anti science” these days but he’s the OG in that arena.
Glassman hit the lottery with crossfit and gave the damn ticket back because he doesn't know when to just shut up. Ppl don't realize when they have won
A tiger can't change it's stripes. He's been off from the beginning. Cops killing fellow humans under the protection of injustice is a low bar not to be a dick about. Oh yea... then there's millions of people dying across the world (remember CrossFit is a global company) and 100k+ people in the US alone which have died from this (to Glassman) "funny pandemic time". He's an arrogant prick. Now everyone knows it. So he's sorry now - he doesn't want to change. he's just sorry. A tiger can't change it's stripes.
As a black man...i appreciate this video so much and hope to see more people involved with crossfit speak out about this participate in the action for change. Much love and respect
Glassman has been a complete jag since the beginning. Everyone knows it ...he decided to breakdown things that were getting crazy good traction. When he fired his media team I was like this guy needs to be removed from his own company. That email response is incredibly disturbing. Can't wait to move forward with Froningfit , Mattfit or TiaFit
Alfred, does that mean he’s a racist? What they’re doing is not justifiable and detracts from their credibility. If that’s the case, fine go start something else but don’t use racism as a crutch; how disgusting!!
@@russnc28 noone does that...they "use" his insensibility and total lack of empathy for the issue at hand. He made a really terrible thing and now is suffering the consequences. Maybe he is not a racist, maybe he is, but one thing he is for sure, a really shitty person as it show right now...
HardToKidnap : I don’t see that he was insensitive. I see that he was fed up with being harassed and pressured into something he didn’t feel was right because statistics do NOT support systemic racism. Probably similar to how these athletes feel when people who have no idea what they’ve given accuse them of using steroids. How many test do they have to take? How much does Greg have to give to ALL people in this community before he isn’t racist? This is silly. He can respond how he chooses and very well may have grounds for a MAJOR lawsuit.
Thank you guys for speaking out and sharing your thoughts. As a black female doing cf for almost 7 years I am shook by his comments. Very tasteless, classless and something that should have never happened. Some things are common sense. And the fact that he felt so comfortable to actually write this man’s name down as if it were a plague absolutely blows my mind. How dare him!! What I am grateful for, is the fact that crossfit happens where ever I am. I am the “box”. I am the methodology. I am the athlete and I don’t need a glassman in my life to tell me that.
This is probably one of the best videos I've ever watched on this channel. Thoughtful and bringing in other voices - thank you Craig and Jas for standing together and with the community and showing that Greg's comments and behaviour are not indicative of the wider community.
The only problem with rogue is that they have skin in the game. The equipment sales isn’t so much of a problem but they sponsor athletes, it would need to be neutral. Don’t forget the work CrossFit does on common training too. Nothing is infallible but it would be interesting to see how it got worked out. Maybe if rogue/reebok etc bought CrossFit it might be an easier transition though . . .
Glassman, CrossFit HQ, and MANY MANY other athletes, sponsors, and close partnerships with a CrossFit did NOT advocate for the BLM movement. Other than some posting the black square, which come on. So call it what it is, y’all just don’t like Glassman.
And this is the real tea! So many athletes and stars haven’t said a word! And some have even taken up for the police (see some members of the hockey community). It made me realize that you will never know until someone shows their true colors...
CrossFit is over. They can't force Glassman out. He owns 100% of the shares, he can do whatever he wants. That means that if anyone wants to sponsor the games, or anything to do with CrossFit they'll be associated with Glassman. I'm not really sure what all the affiliates or people who put on competitions are going to do now. If I'm Glassman my legal team is preparing lawsuits to enjoin anyone not affiliated with the CrossFit brand from offering any CrossFit type classes based on intellectual property infringement. This is about to get really ugly.
Jarrett Little loads of gyms are unaffiliated boxes or ‘functional fitness’ gyms and they offer exactly that and he hasn’t sued them, nor can he as CrossFit is essentially strength and conditioning with weird cult leadership glassman and Castro are fucking atrocious frontmen for any company. I wouldn’t want to spend 2 minutes in their presence
If he own 100%. Smart to have volunteer, because he ain’t paying them he pocket everything. Dang. F that... no way I’m supporting this dumb dumb. That means this dude, take everything.
Iwan Vickery there’s limitations on what gyms can do per their affiliate agreements, namely use CrossFit names or logos. At the time I wrote that I felt like he had intellectual property rights over CrossFit methodology as well. I talked with another lawyer in a similar discussion on Reddit and learned he actually already lost that battle in court so his case isn’t nearly as I originally thought. I will say though that Glassman has a reputation for being very litigious so I wouldn’t surprise to see some legal fireworks.
Never wanted to join a “CrossFit” gym more. Seeing the community quickly and confidently out the owner for being against what they stand for. Shows such strong character, which is definitely what I stand for.
I am not a "CrossFitter" per se, I do calisthenics. But, I do follow some of the athletes, I am glad to see your commentary and was glad to see you let the young lady in on the content. I was wondering who you were constantly look to. You both are some great people, I very much appreciate both of your comments on the subject. Thank you both for your support.
@@jimunderwood77 If you're referring to the cuts, that was all Glassman's doing. He wanted the world "truly represented" only to axe half of them after 1 event
@TeamRICHEY as a man of color it really warms my heart to know that you and others have the back of black people world wide. There are many of us that really look up to you guys, and to know that we can call you guys allies. Thank you
I think it has been that the community and what CF is to most people that has kept it alive. The brand identity has kept people here, not Glassman. I’ve said for awhile that CF is successful *in spite* of him, not because of him.
Thank you for your insight and speaking so eloquently on the subject. I've been trying to wrap my brain around this for the last 48 hours or so. CrossFit has been such a huge part of my life: all of my friends are Crossfitters, almost all of my RU-vid and IG follows are CrossFit related, I'm a L1 coach at an affiliate, and I was hoping to go further in the sport as a Masters athlete. Watching this is already making me feel a bit more grounded and a little less alone. I do believe that breaking away from the CrossFit brand will not break our community apart, and I certainly hope that only good things will come from this.
I love seeing the community come together so fast. You don’t need the name CrossFit. It will be even better moving forward. There are so many great leaders already in the community.
You all have been very fun to watch. You both have such amazing fun positive personalities. I feel the same way you all do about the rain. I feel that the flowers are being watered for the entire world. I can’t wait to see the flowers.
Appreciate that you guys take the time to try and get your head around the big big picture before saying anything... it’s such an individual thing - we need to take the time to go inside and wrap our heads and hearts around things. Then grounded action will come forth naturally 🙌🏼✨💗
Shaven Wookiee seems nice enough however, he openly supports the book that supports and lays out the specific instructions of owning slaves, owning people as property, how much to pay and that you can beat them as long as they don’t die within a day or two.....so it’d be a no from me
I want you to know that because of you two...your videos of this fantastic sport and fantastic people...I went to my first class tonight. It crushed me rather than the other way around lol...but that’s temporary! Thank you. And all the craziness...this too shall pass.
Just so everyone remembers...Crossfit is a brand. Exercise is exercise. Keep doing what you do on a daily basis. He thought and said something stupid and posted it. Done and done. I think that you are doing a great job reminding people of that.
There is only one option left on the table for Glassman if he wants to save anything at all... and that's to open source Crossfit and de-register the trademark, so that anyone can use the name if they want to without there being any financial benefit going to Glassman. This would also mean the end of affiliation, but there could be something to fill the void like an international organization that's a non-profit. Crossfit should never have been a for profit type of business. Nothing good can come out of it that way as bad judgements will always be made when money is in the conversation. #opensourcecrossfitnow
You guys as a couple and as human beings cease to amaze me with your beautiful soulful values and attitudes 🧡 Thank you for being so conscious and caring throughout, well, basically EVERYTHING Big love xx
@Eric Williams Ridiculous. Don't let the thugs who have hijacked the protests and turned them into riots taint the whole Black Lives Matter movement/organisation.
Eric Williams people that think like you are problem with the country I fight for. I’ve served in the United States Air Force for 18 years and I believe “Black Lives Matter” so that makes me a terrorists?
Craig & Jas, I think you've helped a lot of people with this video. I'm not a CrossFitter, but I'm CrossFit-curious, I guess. As someone who works with and for brands every day, I sincerely think this is an opportunity for your community to drive and own the change that it wants the brand to represent going forwards. I suspect and think you have a powerful community, all united by similar values and interests. Your community is responsible for making the current brand what it is, on the back of the original idea. You have the opportunity now to shape what it is going to look and feel like in the future. What does the new brand feel like to you? You are very well placed to understand the feelings and motivations of the community and you have a strong platform from which to contribute. I really enjoy watching and listening to you both and I think you can really make a difference here. Go team!
So I guess basically we need rouge and/or Reebok to set up a new functional fitness brand with Rich Froning in charge. We're all hurting but I'm sure as Craig said, we'll come out of this stronger together.
One of the biggest affiliates in the World Crossfit Copenhagen actually left the crosfitt brand af few month ago, because its not about the brand but the community and our desire and passion for Functional Fitness. They are now ARCA Copenhagen with about 30 boxes and I'm proud to train there, more so now than ever... 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🔥
This is now a good opportunity to start a new "crossfit" organisation and continue with the Games, just under a new name I think this is the end of the company unless he steps down, I will continue to support you guys by watching your channels and ads, but I won't watch CorssFit Games any longer. Reebok already broke their partnership with CrossFit.
I feel like Rogue's statement is basically telling Crossfit Hq that he's gotta go now otherwise they're gonna pull sponsorship completely. They're giving them the opportunity to fix this unlike Reebok who just pulled the plug straight away lol
I believe a rebranding is in order. It would also give the community a chance to highlight what makes it great. I would love some like ”The FIT Championships” Fitness, Intensity and Transfer, or some other acronym that represents us in a positive and accurate light
I see “CrossFit” as a verb, less a brand. If only we could take away ownership of the word/brand so to speak. Like a vacuum being called a Hoover - hoover is a brand but people just started to use as a regular every day word. Let’s just claim it as our own....✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
i am not a CrossFIT athlete - but it really pains me how the lack of leadership has affected these young people. they should not have to risk their own careers and livelihoods just to take a stand on this. i hate the betrayal.
It’s heartbreaking how stupidity and racism can literally destroy a whole brand. You guys rock for taking a stand and doing the right thing. I saw a lot of people justifying and defending that CEO and his racist comments and it’s so annoying and exhausting.
The community of cross-fitters is bigger than one person. I'm glad to see the community standing up, and taking action against the oppression, injustice, and systemic racism of all not just black people. We all want a fair playing field and the freedom to be great. We are human first.
Just want to say, as a black man in this world who fucking loves the sport, thank you Craig and Jas for this video. We are at a pivotal moment in history where change actually, genuinely seems possible for equality and we really do need people like yourselves to help us fight this fight together and bring about the true systematic change thats needed. Thank you
Guys, it's called doing a critical interview, he might not respond, or he might deny what he did, but doing the interview will show the people in crossfit, if he's for real or not
Saying that this is a disagreement is ridiculous. He blatantly referred to the BLM movement as a pandemic. One that he doesn’t agree with if his self professed anger and distress at the health organization tweet is to be believed. You will be one wearing a “CrossFit” t-shirt proudly to show your passive aggressive support of “disagreements” with the idea that black people are disproportionately targeted (killed) because of the color gold their skin and the long standing idea that we are inferior somehow.
My heart really goes out to the both of you. You are both such joyous people and to see your sadness today was heart breaking. I hope someone comes to the aid of your community and helps it to survive and thrive with a new name. Please don't give up hope. God Bless.
i was waiting for this. to know what you guys have to say. when I think of Crossfit I remember you guys , and I want to you guys be straight to find out what that guy say about that please! thank you ! love you guys !!
As a 19 years old amateur crossfiter dreaming of going pro In a few years.. this makes me think again in wich path to take. This harmed not only all and everyone that’s been connected to CrossFit but also everyone that wants to be part of it in the future.
Why do people feel that other people HAVE TO say something or else they’re racists. That’s a scary assumption and a slippery slope, and it virtue bullying.
Would just like to say I'm an older gentleman have not been much into Athletics on my life I'm have had some health issues such as triple bypass and other things but I came across teamrichey and fell in love with it and even though I may not do CrossFit I think it is awesome and the different people that I have come to know of such as Rich Frasier Olsen Willie George the different guys that I've come TI and and ladies that I've come across since I have been watching you Craig and Jasmine I just want to thank you guys because y'all have really shed a light on CrossFit and you've made it fun and enjoyable to watch and I look forward to every time you post something new I look forward to seeing it and I want to thank you guys the community for supporting and standing with the black community and understanding what they've been through and what they're what we've been through and what we're going through and what we have to face everyday so thank you guys thank you to the the CrossFit Community athletes who are standing with us we love you guys I love you guys I think you're awesome and I just want to say teamrichey Craig and Jasmine please don't stop we love you and thank you
I'm glad you talked about conversations and had many with different people. That's what it is going to take to move forward. We need people that truly want to listen and create change to step up and take the reins. I'm not sure if that means Functional Fitness grows past the name, and company, CrossFit, which it can, or someone else steps in to fill Greg's shoes. I'm hopeful for what's to come from this Community.
Glassman needs to step down, resign, and sell the company -- today. He's done with CrossFit HQ and the only way to save it going forward. CrossFit (the exercise) will live on and we'll support our boxes. If he doesn't Rogue needs to pick this up and run with it. 100% makes sense for them to make up a new name and continue forward.
Why does this video have so many dislikes? I think you spoke well considering the upheaval everyone is feeling right now. I agree with Jas 100%, only good things can come from this because there’s nowhere to go but forward and forward isn’t going to happen without positive change.
Rogue needs to take over and call it Rogue community fitness. They already provided the gear to cf so they know how its done and they can hire some of the staff that just quit to help with other parts of the business and get Froning to write up the workouts for the comps 🤷♀️
Why'd they shove Money down his throat, when they could just start a competeing Company while most of the comunity would just willingly accept Rouge as the "new and better Crossfit!"
@@reeems9602 hmm dunno... the crossfit community are the ones who are gonna kill crossfit. What some old guy says doesn't really matter to the sport on the one hand - but on the other the athletes are so loud that it is spreading into the minds of everyone who works out at all..
I like how Noah describes it, with Rockets new name, community fitness. I train at home with my wife, but Linchpin is the program I follow and it is a BROAD and supportive community of fitness. We are all people who love a broad community of broad fitness.
I will continue to go to the box that I go to no matter what! The coaches and gym owners have not done anything wrong. They rely on members like myself for their main source of income. Despite what the CEO has said I will continue to go to my box.
The email was the worst for me, that email was SO abusive and so dismissive he didn’t address a single point they had made I just so shocked and hurt for her just reading it. The goal of an email like that is to make someone feel like shit
I never understood why people pay to put the word CrossFit on their gym, it reminds me of Bikrams yoga, a bunch of nonsense. People can continue to do wods and amrams, it's not the end of the world.
I think he was responding to being harassed and pressured into doing something he didn’t want to do. He can respond when and how he would like and for people who think he was being “mean”; you have NO idea what he’s given to create this diverse community and making some judgment on his character after being harassed means you are virtue signaling. Innocent until proven guilty has real meaning and isn’t just a phrase. The mob does not have the right to force anything from him; or else. You’re hypocrites.
russnc28 being a hypocrite doesn’t mean you are wrong. if he’s done so much, like I said in my comment, why wouldn’t he state those examples He didn’t respond to a single point she made, just attacked her as a person. The letter, tweet and audio “I don’t mourn George floyd” are all the proof needed to know how he feels about this issue. No one is arguing he doesn’t have a right to be an asshole of course he does, that right doesn’t include being free from all consequences. most don’t want to financially support or be associated with a racist bully.
Bacall McElroy nothing you’ve said is upheld by means of ethics or morals that you claim (are signaling) to be of value (virtuous). That’s to say: NOTHING you’ve said actually makes ANY sense. As I said in MY comment, innocent until proven guilty has real meaning; this is what is horrifying about SJW’s. He does not have to provide examples; he’s shown them. After completing a college degree you do not continue to take exams; you serve your community to better it (demonstrate/ act upon what you learned). He’s done that. You don’t actually understand the issues you PRETEND to know about. You’re severing as a kangaroo court. Accusing someone of a crime warrants merit. This is best left to people who have dedicated their lives to that. You ARE arguing he doesn’t have the right to be an asshole when you; a literal jury, demand he be punished. This has no place outside of a court. We have a GREAT society that you seem to not understand and you’re tearing it down to make a worse one. The officer was wrong; justice was served. Exceptions to this are not examples of corruption; they are imperfections. We work EVERYDAY to fix that. Society doesn’t normally “mourn” the death if career criminals and if the officer was not white and the perpetrator black NO one would be claiming racism. To inject that into this situation is divisive, it’s evil, and is wrong. Implicit bias considered (which is garbage) there was ZERO evidence of a racially motivated offense. Lastly, idk wth you’re talking about; hypocrisy has and always will be considered wrong in every society anywhere?!?!
So, the response was done- move on ....you cry babies🙄 you fake fitness warriors..hard on the outside and weak on the inside...you all are dividers not uniters....say goodbye to your clients, patrons, etc we love Crossfit not fitness centers..the cry babies screwed Crossfit not Glassman
