The Medeli AKX10 is a keyboard priced around the £550 mark in the UK and on paper looks like an incredible buy for the price, however, playing it for a few weeks now, is this really the star buy I thought it was?
You can't keep comparing AKX10 with Geno's or PSR SX900 as your baseline. It'll never meet any of the expectations. PSR SX600 will be the closest & more meaningful comparison.
Hi again Leigh … I posted this workaround in a comment to another of your videos. Put your piano sound on R2 instead of R1 and the sound of the sustain pedal will be gone.
I actually like the peddle sound! To each their own, buddy! It's okay if you don't like it, but I think it's kind of awesome! The way I see it, it sounds like someone walking down the hall stairway in big boots! Play the peddles again and see what happens, then let me know! I mean if it still sounds like someone climbing out of a coffen, I won't judge you, but I'm just giving you my opinion!
Leigh. Your ability to traverse the combinations between styles, sounds, and editing is unmatched when combined with your delivery and presentation. I have had my AKX10 for three months and find it great value until I watched your video and discovered the weaknesses in sounds and styles. I love this unit for gigging and jamming, because there are other players who pick up the slack where the AKX10 falls short. I love your series, and will sign up now and pray that you will provide the commentary on the shortcomings to Medelli. Also, Put me on your order list for the upgrade, because when you explain the shortcomings it has NICE results that we all need. PLEASE. Regards. Ray. Auckland New Zealand
I agree with you Leigh, I was hoping for something better. Have you thought about putting all your styles and samples packs on and change the whole thing. You could do the English equivalent of that German company? Or is it just not worth the hassle?
I like the pedal sound also, I don't know if anyone has heard some of the videos on RU-vid but some of the Balkin players make this keyboard sound better then a KORG or YAMAHA.
if all you have is the pedal sound your lucky the native instrument piano voice has pedal, damper, and string sound and a couple of others i can't remember now but at least i can turn them off or adjust the volume, i have to say though the piano from NI is absolutely amazing. I might add that i also have the Baby Genos )) and combined i am totally satisfied.
I'm playing a song where going from one part to another one i can't put a drum fill where i want without having to wait for two more extra beats. I'm thinking about using the button to restart the style. Does anyone use that button for those reasons or is there any other reason why that function is there?
