Folks, I just wanted to explain why I took the video on the locomotive inventory down. I was so overwhelmed with emails that I could not keep it all straight so I needed to take some time to catch up on the purchases and process the shipments. Once I get caught up and know exactly what is left I may reactivate the video and reload the inventory list on my website, if there is anything left. Thanks for the interest-Larry

So sorry to read about your health issues, always appreciated your videos, and I hope you get caught up soon. I'm also beginning to think about selling off most of my model train locomotives, and only keeping a few on a small shelf layout. All the best...

I’ve learned so much from you and the Piedmont Southern. You are a great teacher and a gentleman. It must have been a gut-wrenching decision. I went through the same thing this spring when I decided to sell our sailboat for similar reasons. I look forward to more episodes and hope you and yours remain happy and healthy! Thanks again for all you’ve taught me. So far!

Larry, I'm so sorry you had to make the decision to dismantle the Piedmont Southern Layout, I know that had to be difficult. I have been watching you and reading your articles for years and you have been a source of great information to the Model Railroad community and me personally. Please be well and take good care of yourself, I will keep you in my thoughts.🙏 I look forward to your videos and articles to come. Its's truly been a pleasure sharing our beloved hobby with you!! 🙂

Larry, thanks for sharing what must've been a difficult decision after putting so much work into your layout. I'm just getting back into the hobby at 76, presently planning a layout that will easily be taken apart in manageable modules for the same reason - I don't want to leave my wife and kids with a nightmare to dispose of when the time comes. Your videos and MR articles have been an immeasurable help to me. I wish you the best health possible going forward and will be watching for new videos whenever available. God bless.

Larry, I"m so sorry to hear about your health problems and the removal of your layout. It's so very thoughtful of you to consider your wife in this way. When I re-started model railroading at the beginning of the pandemic (after a break of nearly two decades) I decided that my age and health meant a small layout was in order. I've enjoyed my 1x6 foot "micro-layout" very much and recently added a 10x24 inch diorama for taking photos of rolling stock. So small can still be fun. Please take care.

Over the years we have enjoyed and appreciated every video you have created, not just for the valuable information and advice they have contained but also for the privilege of sharing your enthusiasm for the hobby and the enjoyment you obviously got from working on it. To think of that beautiful Piedmont Southern Railroad ending up torn out and taken to the dump brought a lump to one's throat. I can't bear to refer to your contributions in the past tense as I hope we will still hear from you whenever you feel inclined to post something. In the mean time may I join with all your other well-wishers in wishing you all the best for the future. Kind regards, John

Sorry to hear Larry you were not feeling well. It’s good to hear that you’re feeling better now. But I’m working on an N scale layout. I appreciate your skill and knowledge and enjoyed your channel content and have used some of your techniques. Hi Larry. Really sorry to hear that you are winding down the layout, but very glad that you will still be on our air waves helping us with our DCC dilemas. Your channel has been a great help to me when I was learning about fitting sound chips. Where once I would pay for them to be fitted, I now happily fit my own, with all lights, ditch lights, speakers stay alives etc. This is very much down to your easy to follow tutorials. I hope we continue to see you for many more years to come, but totally understand the need to take things a little slower. Take good care mate and look forward to seeing you after the summer.

Oh, gosh, what a surprise. I'll miss your regular videos exploring the world of DCC. I remember my dad got to what I can only guess is a similar stage to you, and ripped out the layout he and I had been working on for for about 40 years. He found a second hand model railway dealer, and just counted up the locos and rolling stock and they agreed on a price, regardless of condition, rarity or whatever per item. He also said the dealer could take whatever else he wanted that he thought he could sell. My dad got easy money, with no effort, although probably about a third what he might have got if everything was sold individually, but it saved him all the hassle. The dealer spent four days boxing up stock and removing buildings, track etc. He probably got a bargain, but he had to work for it! Now, I wish my dad had given me first option, as there were a number of things I'd scratchbuilt or modified that I had a personal attachment to, but the path he chose was certainly the easiest. I wish you and your family all the best for the future, and look forward to perhaps an occasional video. You have a great record here (and in MR) of all your achievements.

Great you brought up this issue that a lot of us fear. Personally as long as I have a conscious mind, I think I never could sell my collection(been collecting since I was 6), it would hurt me to much. But then there is the question are you going to leave it to your dear once, and my answer would be yes. But what I've done, should the day come that I have to depart from my collection, there is a complete listing of everything in the finest detail. This listing will be send to a number of shops, I pointed out, and the highest bidder will get it. Everything is well ordered in my collection, so they only have to put it in boxes, send it off and enjoy the extra money they get for what ever it fancies there hart. The layout it self, all unit build, I hope that will go (for little money) to a starter and give him a boost in the hobby…

I understand why you are paring down, but I also hate it for you. You have been such an inspiration for me and others. A lot of items on my layout wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for you. Thank you 🙏 for all you have done. I hope your health continues to go in the right direction, and I look forward to seeing your progress this fall.

I can only imagine what it took to come to this agonizing decision. I've been watching your channel for a little over a year now and have found it to be a wonderful source of tips, tricks, and accurate information and for that I thank you. Whenever I have a spare 20 minutes, I typically look for one of your videos. You still have a plethora of videos I have not gotten to yet, but I will as time allows. Wishing you nothing but the best and look forward to future updates. Take care.

Larry, I enjoy all of your videos, I have learned so much, you have inspired me and many other people. I thank you for all you have contributed and I wish you stability in your health. I was just watching your videos last night on DCC power bus wires and the NCE SB5 booster. Blessings to you for what you’ve done and as you move forward. As for your trains, I sure would like to have some as a salute to you! Thank you Larry!

Larry, I got into model railroading and DCC when COVID hit and my consulting dried up and had nothing to do but stay home and be bored. Then I discovered your RU-vid and things changed. I discovered something to be interested in again. Control and operations interested me more than scenes and eras. So thanks again and speedy return to health. Do another DCC video on newer Blunami decoders for Ho! 😊

So sorry to hear that you had to tear the layout down. I totally understand the need to be proactive about it, and how health issues get in the way of railroading. I’m in the same boat. Your channel and your book have been my go to for learning how to convert my layout to DCC. Best wishes for continued health and enjoyment of the hobby.
