They are sadly gonna disassemble Jetline now but it probably for the best to avoid any accidents in the future. One thing to keep in mind also is that Jetline was about 40 years old combined with poor maintanence.

Its actually proved that the accident and death happened due to negligence from the park. The workers didnt even have the proper education and it was wrongly assembled. Truly aweful and it should have been taken down earlier.

More than anything, in this case, poor inspection. If someone qualified would've been able to tell that the parts they had just installed a month or two ago (at most) were faulty from the very start. It is sad to see such an old coaster go, especially since it was the one that first made me really enjoy rollercoasters-- but yeah, it's for the best. Even if it did reopen I honestly don't know if the public would trust it that much.

So I was just in a discussion on a Facebook coaster forum in which someone was wondering how much could be crammed into the tiny area of the Mattel park in Arizona, and it got me researching how small a significant park could get. The stats for Gröna Lund absolutely stunned me. People were talking about my home park, Canobie Lake Park, as an archetypical small park, but I realized that all of Gröna Lund can nearly fit into the angle of the L formed by Canobie's Yankee Cannonball at the north end of its parking lot.

16:02 "For some reason this park has three very different drop towers." I worked at Gröna Lund in 2001 when Katapulten (the Space Shot) was new, and the park already had Fritt Fall from 1998. The reason the owners of Gröna Lund liked adding another drop tower attraction at that point was that it was easy to fit on a small space compared to a roller coaster. That said they've managed to fit *so* many new coasters into the park since 2001! I don't think I've been to Gröna Lund to go on rides since ~2012, so I've not been on half of those coasters. I say "to go on rides" as I've been to a couple of concerts there since, and most notably I got to see Weird Al Yankovic there in 2015.

This park looks very interesting. The way everything is so compact, with coasters weaving around all over the place and using buildings with their supports, etc.makes the park seem like it's something from a sci-fi movie (Blade Runner or A.I. for examples). As I've mentioned before, I love B&M inverts (some of my favorite roller coaster models) -- so, I would love to ride Monster. It does look like a great coaster. I'm not a fan of wild mouse coasters, but the one at this park actually looks like it would be a fun ride because of its unconventional wild mouse layout, with those curvy/winding dips and turns and some punchy-looking drops. I appreciated your commentary on Jetline that was done with a lot of respect towards the victims of the accident while also addressing issues with the ride and others that have been involved in similar type accidents. I've noticed that there is a population of coaster enthusiasts who tend to overlook or downplay -- and even sometimes make light of coaster accidents that could have been avoided if better care was taken by the manufacturers or the parks -- whomever is ultimately responsible for the accidents caused by mechanical issues. Ride accidents of such magnitude are a very serious matter, not something that people should just shrug their shoulders about and sweep under the carpet. So, good for you for sharing such an honest and respectful commentary in regards to this.

Lustiga Huset (The Funhouse) and Blå Tåget (The Ghost Train) are ancient. I am 48 and I went on those rides as a kid (late 70s). I remember that flying carpet ending to be one of the highlights every time I visited and I remember having my eyes closed most of the time while riding on the ghost train with my dad. The only rollercoaster left from that time is Nyckelpigan (the kid's coaster on the opposite section of the park from the one you showed). There was another traditional rollercoaster back then that was located where Jetline is today. By the way, Kvasten means 'the broom(stick)' so it has that witch theme going.

Im from Sweden and live fairly close to Stockholm. I grew up with at least one trip to Gröna Lund every summer as a kid. And as a teenager I was crazy for the thrill rides! Jetline was my absolute favorite growing up, I remember that I couldn't ride it for years because of the height requirement. So I am gutted that it's been decided that the ride will be disassembled...but I also completely understand. As a lonely adult, I haven't been to the park in forever. I do hope they introduce another rollercoaster, as they are my favorite rides. And sometime in the future I can experience it.

@@PaulineHelmersson-hf5yf You've said this several times in the comments now, and not realy. It was a faulty replacement part that was hard to discover was faulty, altho i do agree with proper QC they should've notice it. But it's not due lack of experience, rather that the part was hidden from plain sight. So it would've probably been discovered in a do-over that they do every now and then. Sadly there wasn't a time given for this due the faulty part.

"I can not get used to this ride, it's ridiculous." - 22:25 Well, I once spent a day primarily doing this one ride over and over and over again. Did it at least 80 times in a row, starting early in the morning and few visitors that day, so didn't even have to queue most of the time. And nope, it were still fairly unpredictable even by the end. Unlike other ride that has the same patterns, Insane is just a bit inherently random, and that makes it interesting. Some rides on it are good, some are bad. But the least fun aspect of it is being in the queue bellow the last drop. More than once have I listened to the sound of a rider's phone flying out their pocket and crashing into the water, or against the floor in the pit right before the station. Though, sometimes the dropped phone manages to crash down through the tight nit net above the queue, seen it myself more than once. But yes, Gröna Lund is a very compact amusement park and more than once have they discussed expanding out. They have their eyes set on their parking lot outside, it ain't much. But they can like fit 3-4 coasters and a bunch of smaller rides in that 8000 m² area, adding about 50%. Since yes, Gröna Lund does use a lot of vertical space and has no qualms about having coasters going through each other as clearly showcased in this video, now there is also plenty of other attractions besides the coasters as well. I guess you will have to return in the future to try Twister, it is a good ride. Especially if seated at the very back, where it almost whips one over each drop. Unlike at the front where one slowly creeps over each drop and only really gain speed when one is already a decent bit down the slope. (though, this is partly true for all coasters) Though, it is a bit sad to see Jetline go, it has a lot of charm, but hopefully they will replace it with something new. All the newer coasters are much shorter in comparison, so hopefully whatever replaces it has a similar ride time.

I used to love going to Gröna Lund. And theme parks overall. However, the last time I went to GL it was very crowded, far more than it was intended for when it was built. In 4 hours I got on as many rides, 1 every hour. The rides are great, but it just didn't feel like it was worth the money. You may be used to it in the US, but here (imo) any more time spent in queue than 20-30 minutes is terrible. Glad to see you enjoyed it though!

This is the most ugly park in the whole world! And it sucks because you pay emtrance and then for each ride. Difficult to find something uglier!!! Stockholm in summer is beautiful, aweful in winter: But they could have put some effort to make the park a little estetic.
@u1zha
@u1zha 2 месяца назад
Wdym "and then for each ride". You have wristband for rides that you can get at the entrance. The payment by coupons is just another option.
@PaulineHelmersson-hf5yf
@PaulineHelmersson-hf5yf Месяц назад
But you still have to pay extra for the wristband. And not all rides are included in the wristband. Still a rip off.

I found Timber's restraints not to be very unforgiving and hurt the ride. Then again that was opening day so they could have tuned it in 4 months. Wacky Taxi doesn't have this issue and Voyage uses PTC's-and I'm just tall and two rides that are basically the same having such extremes of stapling baffles me

I get what he’s saying about how intense inverts can be, because I went on Montu yesterday and there’s some seriously intense elements because of how tight it whips you through them and into the near miss underground ruins. Especially that batwing 😅

Ok hi so I was in gröna Lund and I was with my two brothers and my cousin like we was in a group and me I’m 10 and my cousin and brother are like 20+ I went on insane monster, I went on the one that will flips you like you’re going to fall. Great video! I'm really looking forward to the Finland Vlog! This is the most compact park I've ever seen. Lots of great rides and coasters! The Mindbender accident happened in the 80s though and the roller coaster industry's regulations weren't the same I think. Yeah that accident reminds me of the one at the German park last year before you uploaded.

Honestly these accidents are heartbreaking to hear about, it makes us enthusiasts scared, but still want to keep going👍🏻 There were 3 kids on board apparently which is terrifying, now they might not ever want to ride a roller coaster ever again🙁 Marc, Jesiah, or perhaps Nik, are perfectly capable of becoming engineers to reassure the next generation of enthusiasts. As a STEM professional and friend, I’d want that for everyone🎢💛

@morganmcmahon3021 I had to work earlier so couldn't reply back earlier. Yeah these accidents are heartbreaking. If they maintained these coasters better maybe stuff like these swartkopf derailments wouldn't happen. Thanks for the reply. I think it would be cool if Marc, Jesiah, and Nik worked in the roller coaster field someday. I hope them 3 all can make a living off their youtube channels similar to what coaster studios is doing. Yeah these accidents don't happen too much though.

@@michael7054 Same, well said. If it wasn’t for Marc and Sean, I probably wouldn’t give Tornado a chance at all because it looked like Sarah and Taylor were absolutely terrified while riding it, then you watch their version and can leave anyone dying laughing😂😂🇩🇰 So I chose those two over Coaster Studios💛 But Taylor and Sarah are still amazing🙌🏻
