The timing of this vid coming out is hilarious when DJ just did a reaction vid of MMA Guru calling out Dana for "protecting" DJ during this epic run. DJ will always be my GOAT
The most underrated and ignored by the brass, for sure. They did everything to bury him and the final insult was the trade to ONE, where he actually showed he is indeed a one of a kind athlete. One of my favorite fighters of all time, a well deserved retirement and a legend, regardless of whether they induct him in the UFC hall of fame.
DJ wanted out of his contract so the UFC and ONE made the trade, it was a mutual business decision on all fronts. I don't think it was that much of an insult because DJ was more than happy to do it.
Dana White and the UFC did not try to bury Demetrius Johnson. There was some minor disagreement between Johnson and the UFC over compensation. That's all!
@@roythousand13 Dana himself said that the 125 division doesnt sell and his PPVs were always a dud, due to the lack of push. He always looked past his talent simply because he was a small guy, without a lot of KOs and brash behavior like the Macgregors of the world. DJ was loved inside the MMA bubble, but the mainstream audience never cared.
DJ is the real p4p MMA GOAT. His resume is only discredited because his opponents were not popular. But they were almost all young, hungry, good grapplers, and MMA strikers. DJ had to deal with more well rounded skillsets than the other GOATs, and often size disadvantages. A good example would be Cejudo. Imagine if DC had a size advantage on Jones; that’s what DJ dealt with. I don’t care what anyone says, DJ is the real GOAT for me
Nah GSP is the true GOAT over DJ GSP has: -13 title wins compared to DJ's 12 -GSP won a record 33 consecutive rounds against stiffer competition, DJ never even came close to winning 33 consecutive rounds - GSP was a 2-weight champion. DJ could not accomplish this. - GSP defeated a record 7 former UFC champions compared to DJs 2 former champions - GSP has more takedowns, more control time, fought in a tougher division - GSP has more wins than DJ, less losses than DJ, has a higher winning % than DJ and has more overall belts than DJ So on what planet is DJ better than GSP?
@@JayDee-k8m Nah, I’d have to disagree with that. -DJ has 14 title wins, not 12. -I would disagree with the competition assessment. DJ’s opponents being more athletic p4p and better at mixing the martial arts would account for dropping a round. -DJ won a 135lb belt in ONE vs a top tier American Top Team fighter in Adriano Moraes which would be comparable to a winning a 185lbs belt off a post prime Michael Bisping who barely scraped by a very old Dan Henderson. -When DJ fought Brad Pickett, it was his 4th professional fight & up his natural weight class weight -Saying the 125lb division was made for DJ is historically inaccurate. Ian McCall and Joseph Benavides were the two favorites to win the inaugural UFC 125lb tournament. DJ was the underdog. I think the reason you’re saying it was made for him is because you don’t have any context of the history & just know he became the dominant champion. -Former champions doesn’t mean much whenever you’re talking about the first champion of a division. It’s more accurate to talk about the actual opponents they faced. It’s like when Jones fans say Vitor Belfort was a former champion despite him winning the belt in like 2004 in a far worse era of the UFC. -GSP is the best MMA wrestler out of the GOATs, but DJ is the best clinch fighter out of the GOATs. They all have their best areas. And I would disagree it was a tougher division. -Wins and percentages are fine. But GSP only has one more win, but he does have less losses which is probably the best point I can agree with. So on planet earth I’d say DJ is greater than GSP. But I know many people who think GSP is greater, and that’s fine. I consider both to be greater than Jon Jones.
@@SSC604 Spot on. Just some a fun fact; DJ fought an in-prime combat sambo Dagestani product before everyone knew how good those guys were. Bagautinov was training with Khabib and Makhachdv daily back then.
@@k.j.jackson5637 huh???? DJ has 12 title wins in the UFC.. GSP has 13 - Yes, he won a belt in OneFC.. good for him.. GSP was a defending champ in the premier Canadian MMA league before he became the UFC GOAT. So I guess that means GSP has 15 title wins by your logic. - The welterweight division back when GSP was in his prime was the most stacked division in the UFC. He fought monsters like prime BJ Penn, Matt Hughes, Thiago Alves, Fitch, Hendricks, Nick Diaz... while DJ was fighting guys like McCall, Dodson, Wilson Reis, Ray Borg, tim Elliot... Not even comparable competition. - DJ has TWICE as many losses against LESSER competition.... Think about that for a second. Just because GSP is whyte doesn't mean you have to undermine him. He legitimately has the best resume in UFC history. You can admit it bro.
YES HE IS. No roids, and the biggest feather MM has in his cap is that he did not spend a career weight cheating so he could fight out of his proper division like Jonroids did.

@@Braze-xq6pk Your point? Does that mean Jones didn't piss hot more times than anyone else? Just because DJ is humble enough to defer to someone else doesn't change the facts of the matter. But good job, you found a reason to call someone a casual today. Hopefully that gives your ego the temporary boost it so desperately needs.
The reason DJ didn't get the recognition he deserved is the weight class. Many people want see bigger guys fighting. When it comes to talent and technique, he is likely the best pound for pound of all time.
@@BlackCrowOfDeathrespectfully it’s not that hard to understand. Boxing is several hundred years old mma is at most 35-40 years old and that’s generous. Also think of the legends of the sports they are all smaller guys. It’s the overall footprint+ the skill levels. Also the fanbases.

@JayDee-k8m dj couldn't beat anyone bigger than him? Literally everyone he fought was bigger than him. Even when he went to 125 he was still the small guy. Then he fought dudes that looked like 145ers in onefc. I love gsp but let's be real he took one of the weakest fights he could have at 185.
@@titzmageex Bruh GSP was beating guys like prime BJ Penn, prime Matt Hughes, prime thiago Alves, prime Jon Fitch, prime Nick Diaz, prime Johny Hendricks, prime josh koscheck... compare that to guys like Jon dodson, Benavidez, Ray Borg, Tim Elliot, Wilson Reis... Not even in the same realm as far as competition is concerned. Talk crap about Bisping all you want, but at least GSP was able to capture another belt within the UFC, unlike DJ. Just admit GSP is the GOAT. It's okay.
@@titzmageex And on top of all that. GSPs opponents overall record is better than DJ's opponents overall record. you can look this up. Pretty much in every facet GSP was superior to DJ.
Only way il ever think the ufc will do DJ any justice is to send a check with a lot of 00’s for the disrespect they showed him. The best fighter they ever had and they never knew it.. respect to the goat DJ 🫡
DONT you even dare try to attempt to pit blackfighters against one another, WE have enough time dealing with BIGOTS as it is. tyron woodly izzy leon usman aljo jones anderson might mouse francis are ALL EXCELLENCE
Yes. Put DJ in the Hall Of Fame. He’s clear as day the GOAT at Flyweight and it would take a lot for anyone at that weight class to touch his resume. There’s no such thing as an overall GOAT,only divisional GOATS, but Mighty Mouse is surely the best Flyweight ever.
GOATs Flyweight - Mighty Mouse Bantamweight - The Dominator (debatable with TJ) Featherweight - King of Rio (debatable with Alexander and Max) Lightweight - The Eagle (debatable with BJ) Welterweight - Rush Middleweight - The Spider Light Heavyweight - Bones Heavyweight - The Last Emperor Super Heavyweight - Bob Sapp
Islam and Volk are better, the fact that a dude coming off winning the ultimate fighter got a title shot even though he’s been cut from the ufc previously shows how trash DJ’s division was at the time.
Forreal the whole time he was active UFc always said DJ was not worth the money he wanted. Now that hes done fighting, he becomes the most dominant champion. Ufc just showing their true colours here
It was nice having you UFC RU-vid bringer......you posted one the the finest content during your reign.....I HEREBY CONFIRM THAT YOU ARE THE MOST DOMINANT AND MOST LOVED LEADER OF UFC RU-vid 🔥🔥🔥👑👑👑👑👑
Ufc trying to apologize to some fans who thought they were crazy for trading dj for a guy who only wrestles. It still blows my mind they made that trade.
Whats so impressive about Might Mouse, he was a great fighter at 135, if Cruz wasn't around then MM would've been champ. 125 was made for him and he impressively dominated that division for years
Everyone can talk all they want bout lack of competition at his title reign but the dude didnt just dominate he freaking did shit that was absolutely unreal! He did shit that wasn't even in video games! Just toyed around and played with his opponents! Throwing a suplex into flying armbar! Pulling out a submission with 1 second to go after beating the complete shit out the guy! Tko'd Henry Cejudo with knees to the body! Then what he did in ONE was just as amazing! To be finished by Adriano Moraes then to get his revenge with that flying knee!
I'm embarrassed to say that I used to be one of those people who didn't see the entertainment value in DJ and the smaller weight classes in general, but now that I'm no longer a casual, I totally see just how awesome this guy was.
The UFC youtube intern has been killing it recently. Hope he has printed 1000 resumes on the ufc office printer, cos any minute now Dana is gonna see this video.
Forgot how good Tim Elliot used to be. He shoulda been more famous. Had such a funky, entertaining, oddly effective style. Damn near finished DJ with that guillotine into Darce.
For what DJ did as the flyweight GOAT, and even more so the fact that he maintained that level for years after leaving the UFC with no blemish or question over his achievements, makes him the MMA GOAT for me. The man was an absolute machine and went through tough fights, really tough fights, and managed to assert that level of dominance.
DJ is the man! One of the all time MMA greats, his UFC Flyweight Championship reign was legendary!! So dominant in the cage, yet a real humble, classy guy. A true role model for what a martial artist should be. 🐐 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Its weird man, people enjoyed DJ, his fights, everything but the UFC just didnt promote him/didnt know how. Hell he became even more popular as time went on even after he left, thanks to his YT channel and everything plus his accomplishments in ONE. Given more time, support and better more unique promotion by UFC, and the rise of social media he could have been bigger in UFC too. Either way he is now a known legend. DJ tha GOAT! 🐐
I bet I've watched over 500 fights and don't recall ever seeing DJ before now. These fights are incredible, like back to back 10 years worth of the best fight of the year.
