Those tortillas are made from nixtamal cornmeal, there are no tacos made from wheat flour tortilla, those are used for sincronizadas or burritos.

I always like to say that people who think that NY doesn't have good Mexican food just haven't been looking in the right places! It is true that we have a superabundance of extremely mediocre, extremely overpriced Mexican spots throughout Manhattan. But there are more and more new gems opening up all the time! Next time check out Mariscos El Submarino in Jackson Heights or Plaza Ortega in Bushwick. Or Maya's Snack Bar in Ridgewood for sweets and treats

I'm a little wary of trying (more) Mexican food in NY. When I was there in August, I had Los Tacos #1 and Electric Burrito. I really wasn't impressed. I guess it doesn't help that I'm from LA and it's a hotbed of good tacos everywhere down here. And my neighbor told me, the further you go south, the better the tacos are. I found that out first hand. 😅 But, I go to NY for the pizza, not the Mexican food. 👌

I agree with you that Los Tacos #1 is overrated however great tacos definitely exist in NYC because the city is so massive. Great tacos also exist all over the east coast because Mexicans are everywhere on the east coast. I also agree with you that when visiting NYC, pizza is the food to focus on because great pizza is almost impossible to find outside of the northeast with a few rare exceptions

I can’t comment on Electric Burrito, but I have to disagree with you on Los Tacos #1. I love that place, I think they have great tacos, and I grew up in Los Angeles. Apples to apples, I will admit, Los Angeles has WAY more quality Mexican testaraunts, where NYC I would say is very limited. But I think this spot and Los Tacos #1 can hang with the spots in LA. PS- what are some of your favorite Mexican joints in LA? I’m from the Beach Cities, so Ramona’s, LaVilla, Amigo’s Tacos, and Panchos are a couple great spots I like to frequent when I’m back on the west coast.

First time I think I’ve disagreed with you. I love Los Tacos #1. But the pizza on our side of the country is definitely better than the west coast, and they have way more quality Mexican restaurants over there. Curious as to which Mexican spots you like here in the City?

@@APieceofNewYork Tacos Los Cholos and Taco Nazo are amazing here. The latter serves amazing fish/shrimp tacos. There are a lot of street vendors of tacos that I enjoy also. Angel's Tijuana Tacos and Brothers Cousins Tacos are some that come to mind. The last ones I mentioned are in the city of LA, the others are in the county of LA.

@@APieceofNewYork Also, I should've been more specific when it comes to LT#1, I liked it, I was just underwhelmed. My expectations were too high. Every New Yorker spoke volumes of it. Also, that price tag for a taco got me too. 😄 Some tacos further south from me (San Diego) I enjoy are Tacos El Gordo and The Taco Stand.
