Rolling Fork Spirits Amburana Odyssey is a new rum release that takes like Cinnabon, thanks to some finishing in Brazilian Amburana casks.
The rum in this release is a pot and column still blend from Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados, and is a blend of four different barrels of rum aged between 9-11 years. After that initial aging the rums are aged an additional 6 months in Amburana casks and then further finished in heavily toasted bourbon and rye casks.

Well another rum that I probably won't be able to find. Interesting to hear something over 50 abv being so flavorful.

Actually starting this week, I"ve seen it pop up in a couple of retail spots, so who knows you might stumble upon it.

Love that “amateur hour” comment! Down Island Spirits (in collaboration with the Florida Rum Society) had two barrels of amburana cask rum- very nice bottle. Not sure if any remain, but if you can find, I feel it is easily worth the $85 price tag. Happy to share. I have had this bottle of Rolling Fork in my Seelbach’s cart for a while, but I am trying to buy more local…. Oh yeah- a pricey daiquiri, but the Down Island Spirits bottling makes an amazing daiquiri- consider trying with your Rolling Fork!

Oh its far more amateur hour than you'd probably think. Lots of stuff left out on the cutting room floor lol. Thanks for the reminder on the Down Island. I think a side by side is in order

Just came across your videos and this one totally piqued my interest. Based on your description, I just bought a bottle. At the end of the video you ask about other rums finished in Amburana. That's why my interest. I was introduced to Plantation rums at (of all places) a bourbon festival several years ago by none other than Alexandre Garbiel himself. I was curious enough to seek out some bottles immediately afterwards. One of the first I came across in the wild was their 2021 Guatemala XO finished in Amburana. I loved it so much that I hunted down and bought every bottle I could find locally and on various websites. It was unlike anything I had tasted before and I guess it was because of that cinnamon influence. I have since tried a whole host of their bottlings and to date the Guatemala XO is still my #1 favorite. Keep up the posts. I'm still broadening my Rum horizons and find your videos greatly informative. Thanks.

Thanks for the review! I find many (most) bourbon and rye to be very much overly finished. Glad you liked this!

I do want to try some bourbon/rye's that are finished in amburana to see just how overly finished they can get.

I have it as well and like it, but I’ll be honest I think it’s been nearly completely overtaken by the Amburana cask and in that sense a bit simple. In the whiskey world I feel this happens especially with bourbon and Amburana, the only thing I’ve had that’s Amburana finished and had the underlying distillate hold up to the finishing cask was a rye (Rare Character which incidentally I tried side-by-side with this Rolling Fork and the difference in terms of balance, complexity, depth was significant). Good and definitely an interesting take on Foursquare (which itself can get a bit repetitive within their tried and true spectrum of profiles, excellent as they all are), but to be honest this was a sort of glad-to-have-tried-but-I’ll-be-moving-on kind of rum. That’s what makes this fun though, everyone’s reaction to something is going to be a bit different!

@@therumrevival They're still floating around out there! But shipping is a bit tricky since I think the retailers I know of that still have it don't ship out of state... but on a completely different note, when are we going to get to see a video of you going through the Hampden 8 marks??

Are u saying its worth $100 plus tax and shipping?

I know that everyone has different budgets when it comes to rums, but if you are able to spend $100+ on a rum, then yes I do think its worth it.

@therumrevival thank you. I was not sure whether it was worth it. Instead, I bought Lost Cask 18 yo, should arrive today. Hopefully, ambruana still available by the next paycheck, lol.
