I have shot commercials, Music Videos, Live shows, and Events all with this one lens. In the beginning, I felt it wasn't enough. "I need Prime Lenses" "It's not professional to work with one lens" "Zoom Lenses have lesser quality". After 6 Months with it, I can confidently say it's more than enough, it's comfortable, Sharpe and give you amazing results!
F2.8 full frame is plenty shallow dof for video. For photo you might feel the need to use f1.8 or f1.4. Indeed if you shoot video with f1.4 lens, the outcome looks weird to my eyes.
Bought this lens the day is was announced and love it. Good "trick" for balancing it on a gimbal is to balance it at the half way point extended out. I never had any problems with keep a good balance that way and the lens is actually pretty light considering it is 2.8 and the range it has. I bought the Sony 20mm 1.8 for wider shot's and that lens is also stellar with very little distortion.
I agree, it was the first lens I bought with my first Sony A7III (came from Canon), I do love the close focusing (almost macro like) on the Tamron's...I miss that, now switched to the 24-70 G Master
@@asalalawsi It’s definitely better, but I wouldn’t say “worth it”. If you don’t care about having 24mm on the Sony, I’d say the Tamron is perfect for most people. Get the Sony only if you absolutely need the best of the best of the best and you’re making good money with your system.
The sigma 28-70 is a super similar lens. (i use that one since I switched from the a7iii and the tammy to the S5 and the sigma) and it is almost an identical weight and feel setup but is also really good. i think the price is similar too. just don't have that 75 reach

This is perfect everything lens. Run-N-Gun, Docu-Portraits, Small Venue Live Music, Pets. God I love this lens. Oh, and it's ultra affordable. Almost perfection. (Had to give you 200 comments lol) 😅
Real world tested this lens slaps with some s minor adjustments in the software to slow focus breathing in a busy setting. Great lens for both photo and video.
If this price means budget to the other side of the world then I need a miracle. A talent with no tool and opportunity is one of the worst thing being in Africa. Anyway I hope to get a camera and a lense one day to do what I want. But that’s an expensive lense though it’s the budget friendly among lenses.
@@makestuffmike if you're using a sony apsc you might consider buying the yongnuo 50mm 1.8, i got it myself and I have to say the quality is so frking good for the price! (and i even used sigma 1.4 primes before)
@@zfeli2203 yeah but the guy above is looking at the 28-70 focal length not a 50mm on apsc which is quite a tight angle of view with little versatility in terms of AOV.
The Autofocus feature for Video will not work on the Sony A7 R V using this Tamron 2.8 24mm-70mm lens. You get an invalid lens message. It will work for Photo mode. Is it the same for the 28mm-75mm?
Tamron is trash. I had the 28-200mm and it froze my Sony FF. Had to remove the battery to recover. UNBELIEVABLE! The Sony FE 24-105mm f4 OSS is excellent, and you can get them much cheaper than the Tamron. Plus, it's a native Sony lens, which is always good...

Pretty cool vid, but the music inbetween is loud as F*%K with powerful base blasts, then followed by too quiet. I had to constantly adjust volume just to get through the video. Otherwise very useful and insightful

Is it better to buy a Sony 18-105 lens or a Tamron 28-200 for the alpha6000? I know that the tamron has a bigger "shot" but I wonder which one takes better photos at the focal lengths I use most often, around 16-28 and 50-100. I also have a kit for the sony 16-50 and 55-210. I would like to have one lens for everything :)
I have question, so if I were to use this lens with my sony a6500 which has auto focus, would I be able to use auto focus even tho the lens does not have AF?
Hmm yes and no. I think you might be better off with a slightly wider focal length for the space and also a faster aperture for the low light. Have you looked at the Sony 20mm f1.8? I recently got it and its great!
