Hey Matt! I’m the musician for several of the Monument Mythos episodes, including DEANDEMOCRACY. I’m with Mister Manticore rn actually and I just wanted to let you know we are glad you’re and finally watching the series! Alex told me you’re experiencing the series exactly how he hoped everyone would. Personally, I’m just still finding it surreal my music is playing over a game theory video lol. Hope you enjoy the rest!
The music adds a lot to the overall tone and vibe of the series- you did an amazing job! It’s such a creative idea, and the entire team who’s worked on this project should be very proud of themselves!
@@solalabell9674 True, but THITO has retroactively been welded into being part of the Monument Mythos canon (the original series was deleted and then reuploaded as a single episode of Season 3 / the Nixonverse), so technically they're both the same series now.
@@ding-dong_bing-bongThe House In The Ocean, another series Alex (monument mythos’ author) made, pretty absurd yet uncanny, recommend you to check it out
@@gamingnubs7628 I once read a book where that did happen. The fictional future archeologist claimed that "The God-Mouse" hypnotized people with its high-pitched voice. Parents paid large sums of money to have disobedient children tortured for the Mouse's amusement in barbaric places called theme parks. 🤣
I swear that it'll connect my dude. The "trees" are ridiculously important, Dean comes up way more times than is rational, (have fun with the DeanDisaster and SuezCanalCrab). Um, the next few videos are absolutely nuts. Season 2 is also nuts. It's just...wow.
The Monument Mythos is by far my favorite analog horror series. Local 58 may be the original, Mandela Catalogue may be terrifying, and the Walten Files may be a marvel of visual and sound design, but nothing has me more intrigued than MM, alongside Mister Manticore’s more recent works. Its all amazing.
@@hotelinjapan389 Even MM has two distinct points of mind-melt when it all comes together. First time's around the Special Trees and Giza Glass stuff. Second time's when you realise what the Horned Serpent is, and that the joke episode with George Washington was secretly the key to everything all along.
YES! I'm so so glad that you guys are watching more of it on GTLive! I can only hope that you'll do the whole series, because oh boy does it get crazier, but also even more interesting and captivating.
@@who__cares__ Yes! I'm really intrigued by this new series and where it'll go, it's similar yet different to what came before and I 'm excited to see if it somehow connects back
@@chubbs912 I think Nixonverse concluded the Monument Mythos well, and I agree that maybe it's best to leave it at that, but I wouldn't be mad if this new series references previous events here and there!
Cultural moment in my life. Specific to my island, Puerto Rico. The strike to demand our governor to resign, and the night he finally did. Many of us were in our houses watching on our tvs or computers, but you could hear the screams of cheers and excitement everywhere. That night and the next day the entire island celebrated together as we did something historical. Proof that the voice of the people CAN be heard.
Man, Ash and MatPat are the best duo with Ash’s witty banter and Mat’s absolute confusion. I am beyond excited to see this continue because I choose to see the episodes for the first time during these, and so I’m just as confused as Mat.
That beginning talk had me nostalgic for when you could go up to a friend the day after an episode aired when you missed a bit of an episode since you didn't make it back from your bathroom/snack break in time before commercials ended, and they'd be able to fill you in on anything you missed. Everyone literally watched the same 2 channels and DVR didn't exist so it was pretty easy to be on the same page. Good times. The yelling that the commercials were finished. The rush to make sure you didn't miss something.
I know it's more difficult for Mat to react to on a GT Not Live, but I would love love LOVE to see Mat and Ash react to Mystery Flesh Pit National Park!!!
So, did Matpat forgot about this series? A real shame if he does. But if he does the next video around the same length as this one, they're gonna have to cut it into 2 separate videos lmao
27:05 THANK YOU! I was about to start screaming if Mat didn't think of Night at the Museum. Because, I haven't seen either of them in years, but they both live in my mind rent free, everday.
Spoilers: There are no Lincon Lookers. There are a few videos detailing certain monuments that are complete fabrications by the ADA (whose name changes a few times but they always keep that acronym). This explains why the Lookers don't quite fit in with the rest of lore and also why its so upfront about what they are, compared to every other monument having some sort of mystery behind it.
I hope you continue this, the lore goes so deep and it's my absolute favorite series. I would love to see you look at the Nixonverse. Alex is an absolute GENIUS with alternate histories.
I wish he watched more, and I hope they didn't abandon this because it got fewer views than other videos. Because the story only gets more interesting!
please play Buddy Simulator 1984! It's super good - mystery, LORE, secret meta game files, HIDDEN HORROR, great characters, evolves as you play, multiple endings, and its just incredibly fun, and deserves MORE attention!!
yeah, i personally agree more with Night Mind's analysis of of this series ngl. this series is pretty open-ended so i don't think any one reading is more valid than another; i just don't resonate with Wendigoon's analysis as much. 🤷🏻♀️
Alright, how’s everyone’s day been this time around? Last time no one seemed to upset or depressed so hopefully we can keep this going but if your day wasn’t good I wouldn’t mind listening to that side either, if your comfortable with it of course, but either way I wish everyone a wonderful day and the best of luck for future awesome days! Edit:Also, no promises but I’ll try to respond to as many replies I can get with how your day was, whether it be good or bad, funny or sad, or even if it would make me feel glad or mad, I’ll try to respond the best I can and I wish everyone a wonderful day, just remember that there’s always people out there for you whether you like it or not, accept it or don’t, it’s just reality, even if you haven’t seen them yet.
6:16 I've never experienced anything like this. The internet is the most I get in "culture". And I am not sure as to why in all honesty. I like it in concept, the sensation of just, the idea, people can be united, grouped together, for one majour, whatever. I've never felt like I was part of a community, and that's my favourite part of media, the sense that you are, from watching Christmas movies, to finding niche parts of the internet. And, I've only recently started doing things like this, leaving comments. I've finally discovered the joys, of just posting ideas, talking to people. Having something get tossed out there, acknowledged or other wise. So, that's why I'm here, writing this. If anyone's taking the time to read all this. Thank you. And I wish you the best.
The reaction to Dean Democracy is actually accurate considering how ppl reacted to the real life radio broadcast of War of the World back in the day.... And I beg to differ with MatPat about the urgency of massive announcements. The general population is prone to panic and willful misunderstanding. Holding off in the attempt to possibly avoid the announcement altogether or do extra damage control to have less to announce sounds WAY more plausible.
I’m thinking maybe the Lincoln looker is fed wierd soup and is transformed into a monster, and then the 1 missing Washington absentee was transformed into the worm tree??
Couple of interesting things that I noticed: 1. For all the talk of people missing and being sacrificed, there are a couple of people who are alive that shouldn’t be. The repeated mention of assassinations during Dean Democracy stood out to me, especially since it seems in this alternate history, none of them succeeded. They make sure to say the assassination ATTEMPTS of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr, but MLK showed up for “the first time since the assassination attempt”, and the fact that they said “repeated assassination attempts against Robert Kennedy” implies that not only were there multiple (which to my knowledge isn’t true in our universe), they were all unsuccessful. MLK was assassinated on April 4th, 1968, Robert Kennedy was fatally wounded on June 5th, 1968, and even our bongo playing President James Dean was really killed in a car crash on September 30th, 1955. But not in the Monument Mythos universe; is there a reason they all survived, or were they all just luckier in that timeline? The second detail I’d like to point out is actually in the playlist description for Season 1 of the Monument Mythos, which I left in a comment on the first GTLive on this series: The description reads “America (My Country Tis Of Thee) was the national anthem of the United States.” …Was? As in past tense, as in is no longer? What changed? Do we just have a new national anthem, or is the US completely gone? Also this is another detail that’s different from our world, as the Star Spangled Banner was made the official national anthem of the USA in 1931.
Ooo, I didn't see the in-character seizure warning in the description box before. That's a great way of keeping it universally accessible without breaking immersion! It's awesome for it to be included at all, and I'll always appreciate efforts towards the stuff I love to see advocacy for. That said, it'd be even cooler if they had copied and pasted that text into the video before the actual clip, too -- possibly in the same font and editing as the other canon descriptions/captions. It'd not only still fit or even contribute more to the whole "evidence reel" aesthetic, but it's also a better universal accessibility disclaimer that ensures the viewers in need would see it and prevent an avoidable epileptic episode. [Spoiler-ish for later season one videos] We do know the assembly of these evidence reels are supposed to be done by essentially a civilian with some sort of old video editing software, Alex Casanas (indeed, the title cards are important to the lore; every detail counts, video description and all!), so it's definitely conceivable and non-lore-breaking.
I think the funeral of Queen Elizabeth, at least here in the UK, has definitely brought back that feeling of a cultural touchstone moment. Everyone was talking about the aftermath of her death, the build up to the funeral and of course the funeral itself.
Watching you finally get to the fan requests of backrooms and monument mythos has been fantastic. It gives me faith that someday you'll be willing to tackle Mystery Fleshpit National Park
I just realized that for the Washington monument one the thing says 20 people go missing, but there is actually 19 photos shown. I checked to make sure if a picture had gone missing.
I’ve been waiting for this series to get its well deserved fame for so long, and final,y this is it! Thank you so much matpat, I’d love to see your ideas for this series !
Hey Matt! I just wanted to tell you the descriptions of the videos have important clues you will need to get the full picture of! Good luck theorycrafting!
It would be so cool if you stick with this series. May not give you theory material, but it's a heck of an experience. It gets WILD! 😉 Thank you for continuing ^_^
Me, in every day life: I'm not very patriotic Me, when I see James Dean: ✨JAMES DEAN IS MY PRESIDENT✨ USA USA USA 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 Edit: Also I'm extremely happy that MatPat is turning out to be a James Dean Supporter unlike someone else on RU-vid *cough cough* Wendigoon *cough*
One thing I can think of recently Matt is the season finale of Lost. I remember tons of people being aggravated by it where ever I went. Also here is St. Louis when Mark McGwire hit 70 Home Runs in a single season in 1998. Everyone watched the home run chase on TV back then.
5:00 speaking of this kinda reminded me of a tradition in Sweden where pretty much every person has to watch a program right before Christmas which shows small clips of daffy duck
15:13 I aspire to be as knowledgeable yet innocent as Matpat. My man knows the entirety of The Game about Dead Children in Spring-loaded Death Traps but doesn't instantly recognize the outline and shape of a Middle Finger
when you eventually watch "Rockefeller Tree Tragedy" from season 1 and Washington "Wonderland" from season 2,those videos have more story and lore about The Monument/Washington Wormhole and The Special Tree, i know you're trying to watch the videos in order.
Y'all gotta check out Mystery Flesh Pit National Park. The amount of world building is insane and the potential for science based theories is so strong. And there's so many deep details that other channels haven't been able to cover in full depth. Plus Coke Heartthrob! With real amniotic ballast fluid!
