Funny trend in Manga, there's a decent percentage of Manga Artists Avatars are delightfully weird. Mushrooms, dogs and other funny designs. Heck, the creator of DBZ was a cute little robot.
@@frommi_and Video games Undertale, Toby Fox, with the white dog. I like funny/silly/grime avatars verses "too perfect". But as long as it's all in fun and games for the avatar, I don't have much to say.
Ngl she gives the vibe of one of those mean girl types. I feel like there's probably a valid reason why the people at her art school don't like her humor lol
The fact that she responded “somehow they made them uglier than I did” to someone redrawing the characters in a nicer light really says all I need to hear in this conversation. And SHE posted it to her own story. Almost like she was bragging about the fact that she drew “ugly” characters, aka neurodivergent and queer people, and she got away with it. She’s definitely a mean girl, a bully, and I guarantee if she isn’t already phobic and ableist, she’s well on her way. She’s surrounded herself with yes men, and she’s clearly not changing. It’s not good to judge someone you don’t know, but at the same time, don’t we, as queers and neurodivergent people, HAVE to judge others for our own safety??? We HAVE to figure out if this person we’re talking to is unsafe, or if they’d be cruel to us. We can keep it alleged, sure, but we have to be safe. It’s also bad to stoop down to their level, but you gotta admit, the irony is there. She IS drawing a sort of… anti caricature of herself. I look exactly like the person in the middle, tooth gap and all, and it hurts to see myself in something someone else deems “negative” or “ugly.” I think the most fair way to get payback without being cruel is drawing her exactly how she looks. Seems fair to me. /hj It really seems like she’s just insecure and taking it out on people she sees as “uglier” or “lower” than her. Having insecurities about yourself is valid, and normal! but it ISNT okay to push your insecurities onto others. And she’s gotta learn one way or another, or we’ll just have another bigot floating around the internet. I’m sure we’ll see her again soon. For better or for worse. I hope we don’t see her at all though. Or anyone like her for that matter. Ofc we don’t have that kinda luck :( oh well. Also your sona is super duper lovely!!! Your style is so soft and the colors are really well done! :) loved this vid! You did great:)
@@TOMFOOLERY334because they are literally copy paste caricatures used to mock queer and neurodivergent people, have you’ve never seen those dumb soyjack memes ?
"Almost like she was bragging about the fact that she drew “ugly” characters, aka neurodivergent and queer people," Thanks for saying the quiet part out loud. Now we know what you really think of us.
@@TOMFOOLERY334 I think you’re worried about the wrong thing here. The people shes talking about and drawing here saw themselves in these characters she drew to be soyjacks, an insulting character based of of stereotypes. Including me! An alt and queer neurodivergent artist. Not every artist is going to be queer or neurodivergent, but enough queer and neurodivergent people relate to these characters that it’s heavily implied. Bigger people, alt dressing people, and “nerd” types who go to art school? And who don’t get this joke she’s making, a joke she’s used to making with a friend group that isn’t these specific kinds of people? She’s saying that these people are “others”, who aren’t like her and don’t get the joke. She’s clearly not very alt other than the artist bit, and even then the whole point of her video was showing how she ISNT like these other characters. If you get it, you get it, if you don’t, you don’t. That’s all I can say.
Its so crazy for an art major to be like "the specific decisions i made in this piece of art aren't reflective of my intent or me as a person" uhhmmm thats literally how art is. You drew them a specific way for a specific reason, whether it's negative or positive stereotypes, they weren't drawn that way not to make fun of those specific people and people who are addressed by those stereotypes, so she has zero defense. Its obvious why she deleted all of it 👀
I am an art major too! I love all my classmates, they’re all so talented and supportive to my extremely shy ass lmao. I’ve never really sat down to look at them and go “Oh they’re pretty” “Oh they’re ugly”, because why should I care? They’re my classmates, they’re my peers, they’re all so incredibly talented, and wonderful people. To judge them on looks alone or on if they have my same humor (which funnily enough they do) is just. Dumb.
I do see how people see how this could be offensive since usually that kind of style is made to make fun of queer or neurodivergent people thought I do think some people jumped the gun a little. And I think Niah constantly bringing up and prolonging the drama was unesery.
Maybe I’m desensitized from all the people being outed as pedophiles but I find it hard to muster up the energy to care about comparatively small stuff like this
@@amethystimagination3332 still okay to not like being made fun of. I mean, i feel the same way as you but logically just cause a minor bad thing isnt as important as a major bad thing doesnt mean people cant get upset.
I think my biggest thing about “small” stuff is that it can quickly snowball into legitimately dangerous stuff. Not saying this will happen to her, (though the Screenshots at the end are…. Pretty bad.), just in general, but one person “making jokes” about insulting people can attract actual bigots. And being in that environment will lead to more open insults towards minorities. They might start insulting different races along side the queers and neurotypicals, attracting Yahtzees, which do commit legitimate harm towards minority groups and POC. Pipelines like this are VERY real and VERY dangerous, and “small” behavior like this should really be nipped in the bud before they spiral out of control. It might not always happen, hell it might even be super rare, but if you could stop one ☝️ person from spiraling into bigotry, wouldn’t you wanna try? It wont always work to tell these people actual facts, but we can atleast try. At LEAST. Basically real harm can come from this behavior in time, and we should stop it before it gets to that point.
I want to point out this reminds me of the animation controversy of how african/black people were drawn with exagorated big lips or women drawn insanly sexual in the early days of animation and guess what happened to those animation sterotypes nowerdays?
@@TravellerZasha if she HAD drawn a char with big lips or slanted eyes or any other racially stereotypical thing, it’d not only be a lot more obvious what her true meaning might have been with this “joke” and it’d be a much bigger problem. But you’re absolutely right, ultimately the energy she’s putting out is the same, just with neurodivergence and queerness instead of race. All of which are minorities. It also swings back around to the fact that normalization of “small jokes” against minorities can evolve to straight up phobia/ableism/racism, much like we see at the end of the video. You bring up a great point of proof as to why this normalization is so harmful! If this behavior was shunned as much as it should be, the minorities at the butt of the joke wouldn’t be seen as weird and wouldn’t be at risk of harm as much as we are with the past actions of art and animation (and film and games and…. real life.) I could argue all day that this issue is much bigger than just the art community, than just these specific minorities, and these “small jokes”. It’s real, it’s dangerous, and it’s happened before. We should nip it in the bud and spread awareness while we can! Thanks for your perspective and point!
ok so for everyone confused, to sum it all up. she basically drew herself like “pretty epic normal sigma” and then drew the others like “ugly weird queers who missed my normal person joke” my guess is that she didn’t intend for this to go so awry (and maybe never intended it in a hostile or stereotypical manner at all) and was kinda subconsciously (aka unawarely) following the tiktok stigma of “queer = cringe” I honestly say how she went about the situation after was stranger than how it started but idk tho and some of these are just my guesses
Honestly theres a comment saying that "everyone can be an artist, even mean girls" and misa is a mean girl. The typical one that would shame people who are not similar to her, THAT mean girl
I only went to art school for a semester (uni isn't for me) but all of my peers were open and loving. They didn't care about anyone's appearance, they only cared about who someone was as a person.
Honestly I didn’t think the video was too serious, are they stereotypes? Yes but there’s stereotypes for literally every major so I don’t care about that too much. the fact some people are glossing over the fact she said SLURS and misgendered a person is CRAZY to me. apparently she was like 12 in those Snapchat things but…..there’s really no proof to that claim. So I’m gonna continue to believe these were recent 😭😭😭
Exactly, the video is such a non issue imo. Like she's definitely not the first person to have made fun of people by drawing them "ugly", meatcanyon's whole career is based off of that and tons of people love him lmao. But yeah I definitely think everyone's focusing on the most unimportant problem here, if she's said slurs and purposefully misgendered people I think that's what people should actually be talking about instead of "she drew art students as ugly and it's kinda mean guys"
@@mourningdawn Completely agree.. though its important to remember how dramas like these are seen from the average persons perspective, obviously the thing that started it all would be the one with the most attention, and the only way you would find out about other horrible things about said person is if you cared to check out more than 3-4 videos of said topic. I'm not saying its a good thing, I just wanted to say why this happens.
bro I only stumble upon your videos every now and then BUT THAT SONA CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD; THIS IS THE MOST MAJESTIC, TOE CURLING, BEAUTIFUL CREATURE I EVER LAID MY EYES UPON, THIS!!! THIS IS IT!!!!! anyway hope you have a good day
i dont think that video is inherently problematic, but i remember when i first saw it i was a bit wacked out 😭it just gives "im different than other art students cuz i'm funny and pretty 😘🤩" vibes 💀
self portraits are how you see yourself and your worth, whether we are introverts or extroverts our own self portrait is what makes us ourselves! since she's young I hope she properly learns from this lesson and to learn to catch flies with honey and not with vinegar!
I just graduated from art school a few months ago and I genuinely can't fathom disliking the uniquqeness and creative personal expression of anyone there. I never had art friends until I went to art school, and it was fantastic to see so many creative minds just like me there. It was a space where people embraced their creativity and didn't judge others for shallow things like appearance or whether they were conventionally attractive enough, because they saw the beauty in more than that. I can't imagine ever badmouthing such a wonderful safe space that welcomes everyone. I don't think people who try to single themselves out as "better" than everyone from their own communities realize how pathetic and strange they're making themselves look. You're one of us regardless of how bloated your ego is! anyways, sending love to all my fellow weirdos!!
I remember seeing this tik took and being genuinely upset. It just... Why? The joke would have landed if she just made them look "😐". There was no point in making the art students the joke by making them ugly. I recently started going to an Artistic highschool (in italy it exists, it's difficult to explain, lol...) and everyone there is so cool. I just don't get the reason to draw them ugly. I'm super gay and whenever I see any cool girl at my school I get so excited. Also.. the person with the ponytail and glasses looks like me. Thanks author of the tik tok, it made me feel like shit(〒﹏〒)
I mean I don’t personally like the video and do find it somewhat offensive.( that could just be bias though as I don’t personally like the bojack style. ) maybe I’m just not understanding the humour properly I don’t know. I just don’t think it was necessary to draw the other students as caricatures for this joke. As it was never about the appearances of the other art students in the first place. It’s also somewhat others people which I feel is also unfair.
I think it feels offensive because, well, there was no point in drawing them ugly. The joke was already there, just make them look confused at that's it, it works
I think this girl goes to my art school oop 💀 I think this bc she drew a model who models for figure drawing classes (granted he models at some other colleges too) and a mutral who follows most people in the animation class at my college follows her
As an artist in art school, the OG poster reminded me of some similar people i know in the same major as me who are, essentially, “mean girls”. Their sense of humor leans towards making fun of people for being “annoying”, with their “annoying” traits often being common traits shared by neurodivergent people (being socially awkward, struggling to read the room, being overly blunt. In my school at least, the kinds of jokes that are seen as “unfunny” generally leans towards jokes steeped in misogyny, queerphobia, racism, etc, cause art students generally tend to lean towards being more leftist, so it calls into question what kind of jokes OP was making to be seen as unfunny by their peers.
I gave up depicting myself as a human because it didn't look or feel like irl me and resorted to a chibi bear, my spirit animal. Too anatomically small to carry a pencil.
OMG!! This is so wild! I was friends with her in high school, she was always the racist type and usually quoted idubbz and (flithyfrank I think) so I think she's stuck stuck in that era. It's weird to see that she hasn't changed at all as a person. Great video tho!! Bit odd seeing her after like 4 years.
Not shocked that a girl who looks like sssniperwolf acts this way At this point i wouldn't be surprised is she went mask off and was just an openly terrible person because all the "it's not that big a deal" people wouldn't care
This could have been avoided so easily if the first cc just made the characters blank like most artists do. Edit: 12:15 this is literally the perfect example for what I said.
The fact that I'm in the Iranians community and they can't blame for for anything in art but they trying to make some fake chats for me and its insane I almost had a night crying over how ppl can be this mean when I don't even talk to ppl
I love your sprite and also your picture is really pretty! and yeah i agree with you w the whole drama thing. also is being an art major all its cut out to be? I want to major in animation or art but idk if i should
choosing your major is a long mental journey you gotta do yourself, based on what you believe and want. personally, I’m still deciding if I’m gonna stick to this. so far, it’s been very fun :)
Actually fw ur thoughts on this one , @ the end where ur talking abt how tons of ppl look diff . But yea the artist being criticized in the video (don’t remember her name bc goldfish brain) did NOT do it well .
Yeah, but the issue is when those people turn it to essentially a “Chad vs beta” meme. Drawing themselves as better or superior than the target of their joke. It’s not to say that exaggerating isn’t welcomed. Look at creators like Nirami. They’re known for often including exaggerated faces and gestures but it’s used to make the joke funnier, not bully a group of people.
This whole situation is stupid if people think the avatars in the TikTok look like LGBTQ+ then that's really weird you can't assume what people are just by looking at them like they aren't even people it's doodle, this whole situation would be solved if everyone went outside imo TikTok art drama is never that serious ppl r just bored
I think she was just trying to be funny, but it didn’t turn out the way she expected. The video can come off offensive because how she portrayed art students and a lot of people don’t realize that not everyone is gonna react positively to these type of videos,🐺🐺
I mean to be fair the people I see in my art classes as an art major do tend to look like that. The way I described it to my friends a while back is like during conception all the well doing sperm was all mangled and damaged so only the weak incompetent ones had a chance of fertilization and that's why they look like that, and my friends agreed. But I don't think it's really an issue, it doesn't affect anything they do. Well, they also tend to have a complete lack of hygiene so I've come close to suffocating in a few classes and art hobbies from the pure rank smell, but you know, that only affects me not them so it's not really a problem either. They're harmless for the most part and just people like the rest of us. I don't think a whole TikTok needs to be made about them. They're as unaddressed and unacknowledged as the unattractive kids in drama thinking they'll have a career in movies or big stage productions when the industry doesn't care about unfortunate looking people.
I'm sorry but this video is kinda shit. You didn't present the ideas and points very well and had me doubting most of the points you were trying to make the entire time. Yes the flashing, low quality twitter screenshots you shoehorned in at the end do prove the artist actually holding bigotted beliefs, but up until then your points were built off of very shaky evidence. No, based off the drawings alone, you cannot discern whether or not the artist is actively hateful and malicious. I think it certainly could be harmful if there were more depictions showing them in a malicious light, but the video itself doesn't necessarily show them as offensive charicatures, just simply a group that doesn't click with the artist. Yes negative readings could certainly be read, which is criticism i do think is valid but jumping to accusations of bigotry off the video alone was a step too far and i can understand being upset about it, no one likes their reputation being tarnished. Using a twitter comment as a source to prove they were based of soyjacks and therefore somehow malicious and hateful is incredibly stupid i sorry. Twitter comments are not reliable in the slightest and using twitter gossip as evidence seems more childish than the childish behaviour you accused her of, which doesn't negate your point but it does throw your credibility in suspicion. Additionally, although wojacks and soyjacks are very heavily used to create hateful-borderline-propaganda towards minorities, that does not mean all uses of them are used to disrespect minorities. Yes it could indicate the creator very likely has malicious intent but it does not directly prove that. Both of these issues really dampens any actual point you try to make, especially as this was your main conclusion of this whole mess. If you wanted to actually discuss the artists bigotted beliefs you should have gone further in depth on the twitter posts instead of throwing them in at the last second, which kinda downplays the actual shit she did, or make a more solid argument that relies on more proof and recognises nuance. Just because the accusations DID turn out to hold some truth, if the twitter posts are to be believed, doesn't mean this kind of guilty-till-proven-innocent mindset isn't harmful to discussion overall.
thanks for the notes ! it’s really difficult to inject crucial evidence when the original author is either posting them as stories which delete after 24 hours, or deleting them entirely. that’s why i pinned a comment with the videos i could find after posting. I do my best to state that in the video, that at the end of the day what I share is hearsay, but I could’ve done better to state that. either way, thanks for the feedback :^)
@@wompwompcryabttit like i majored in fine arts, i was the “normie” along some other chicks but like fr there are so many people that look like this girls characters and yeah they weird as heck, cringy and extremely awkward, they funny too but like is true, I’ve had a classmate that would never shave and had an unfortunate mustache and unibrow, she was the most hardworking individual in our school generation BUT that doesn’t negate the fact that she wasn’t visually pleasing.
it’s just kind of dumb how they used a bunch of stereotypes for the other characters and made them ugly while making themselves pretty. there’s other ways you can express the joke that would be funnier and less dumb.
@@sae-yeah but i think it mainly stems from the tiktok renewed stigma that “neurodivergent and lgbtq ewww haha let’s call them cringe” i think she followed this stigma, even subconsciously. then again, i can’t read minds so this is just my guess here

@@velvettehayes9434 the issue lies in that as much as we all roll our eyes at the word stereotype unfortunately they are to sone degree true, again i majored in fine arts and i myself im in the spectrum and while i seem “normal” than most of my neurodivergent peers ive seen young adult that are CRINGE asf in art school because they are trying to fund themselves but again, is severely true that most of them are like that, crazy hair, crazy clothes, unfortunately sometimes they do not commit to basic hygiene and while is harmless most neurodivergent artist do not make themselves any favor by acting upon the stereotype of them being well…undesirable to be around.
@@wompwompcryabttit I've drawn those and studied those. The issue is she didnt drew herself in a funny face style which you can tell by the proportions and lack of skin details and she didnt even include glasses in her selfsona that she wears in her photos and this gives the viewer the possible perception that shes making herself look better prettier and adding to the sterotypes. the past and present cartoons have one thing you forgot which is consistancy in style unless it was made to make fun of a certain group for example the past cartoons of the 1900's of african people drawn very exaggerated to be seen as unappealing which you can find on youtube.

Second time, video still pinned + a new tik tok where she used the R slur?!?!? 💀 Third time, video is private. BUT the most recent post is an advertisement asking for donation for her artist alley?!?!?! THE AUDACITY I can't believe people defended this?????
My friends and I go to a performing and visual arts Highschool. Often times we get overshadowed by performing art students, visual art students are seemed as weird or unattractive. But my friends are the smartest and most talented people I know and I don’t know why the performing art students judge art students based off their appearances and views on things when we go to an arts school. Aren’t we supposed to express and be creative? 🫤
