As a black person, it's the skin tone plus hair color that's thrown me off. I appreciate artists want to draw more people of color but do it right. The problem isn't Pinkie pie being plus size. It's the skin tone on top of the hair. I haven't met a black person who dyes their hair who hasnt chosen a color that doesn't compliments their skin tone.
I'm an artist and I will agree that the hair is rather saturated and bright for the skin tone. For me my eyes instantly go to the hair and the face kinda gets lost if it weren't for the eyes and mouth breaking up the very contrasting colors. Contrast is amazing for designs to bring focus to details and breaking up areas, but here is feels just too much. I think they color picked the pink which I agree with ur suggestion of darkening the pink or just playing around with pink hues to get a more cohesive look.

High contrast designs with dark skin tones and light hair can definitely work, just with some better balancing. Faputa from Made In Abyss was the first one I thought of.

It's an Artist, they are adults right? They must know as an artist sharing their art means they have to expect to get negative criticism too. To have openly done art like this knowing what was to come is like they knew how weird and gross it was to much of the community and it would provoke disgust. They knew. On a note of that I feel like anyone who'd want the main cast to be "exclusively white" are genuinely some of the most boring people to exist. For me forced diversity has 2 other caviots. If they pull a Velma by mindy Kaling. Or when the characters are only a minority for the sake of marketing. Even if it’s harmless it’s just used as a marketing chip “OooOooOoh they’re gay nooowow!”or “woOooOoOoow they’re faAaAaaaat we’re SoOoOoOOoo incluuuuusiiiiiiiIiiiivee” etc etc it’s just three to make headlines. For me, my trigger is companies retconning existing characters. Like for example, Monster High took a Romanian character, and make her Taiwanese. And then the fandom was making arguments such as 'ohh it makes more sense than the original because her clothing style was inspired by Japanese gothic lolita' exactly bruv. JAPANESE. So how does a character being inspired by Japanese fashion lead to them turning _Taiwanese_ ? Wouldn't it make more sense to just... make her Japanese??

It's not the best art out there, my only nitpick about it, is it's very hard to see the main 6 in some of them, moreso if you separate them into solo shots. Characters like Pinkie and Twilight could potentially pass, but that's simply bc of their color scheme as well as Pinkie having her cutie mark as a pin. Rainbow Dash looks like a man who is encapsulating the masculine energy while embracing his gay side. Fluttershy looks like a different character who so happens to share Fluttershy's palette (anyway both I can nod along with even tho I might not realize it's them at first. Like the resemblance is still there) Apple Jack and Rarity while has a little bit of their color palette; if you showed that to me my first thought wouldn't be mlp, I'd think of OCs of fanart of a series I have no connection with. If you told me mlp rarity and apple jack, I'd think you were messing with me bc aside from confident model and farm aesthetic, it's hard to see.

I saw an artist take a huge skin color swatch list, made it grayscale along with the pony’s fur color, then picked the skin color that matches in grayscale. Showing that on top of their redesigns for human MLP I thought was really neat. They still got hate for any pony that was darker than porcelain 8I Diversity is fine by me. Design choices like bad clothes, making them OOC, not taking story/location into account, or flanderization are my issues.

You're kinda wrong for the lolicon one. From my experience, even mentioning the term lolicon will have people frothing in rage. (In my opinion, IDC about lolicon or shotacon unless the artist is shad man.) As for the art, I feel nothing but pain for the artist being bashed. I found their drawing as a redesign with Disney princesses instead, and then found a search term related to the art that lead me to the original work. I simply never understood why a poorly drawn yet simple artwork of humanized horses was becoming so viral... until I found people explaining how the original artist got bullied into obscurity. I have seen artists redesign characters into being plus sized or non white as to "own the haters". (Art washing) But the artist wasn't that type of person. So what did they gain from this???

the term probably came from people referring to the history of the meme being called "lore". thus "art lore" became synonymous with the meme itself and the individual words lost their old meaning in that context.

i saw a comment about Fluttershy being an animal handler, her being lanky or disabled in any way (i often see her in crutches) would prevent her from doing her job. With Pinkie, not only was she raised on a rock farm, but being the most energetic means shes burning a lot of calories, she still could be a bit chubby but the correlation between partying and sweets, and obesity can be seen as offensive. theres a lot more things that artist seem to overlook when making the ponies human, so i understand why people are claiming its "forced diversity". but, like of course Apple Jack will be "masculine" and tan, she works on a farm in the sun all day. Rainbow Dash should really be more slender with strong legs as she is a runner (or flier), so her strength needs to be in her lower half, where as Apple Jack needs all of her muscles to do her job. i always imagine Fluttershy to be like Steve Irwin, not farmer buff but similar as she also needs the strength for her encounters with bears, she doesnt just look after little bunnies and birds.

These aren't really people, they're anthropomorphic pony people, there isn't a "right" way to portray a character, trying to claim its not realistic is dumb, they're drawings that don't exist in reality and therfore can be anything the artist wants them to be, that's kind of the point of art. your interpretations of what a character can look like are valid! But that means you don't have any right to tell someone else not to do exactly what your doing.

My biggiest gripe with the art us that every character is in a different style, so when you put them all together it just looks horrible. Rainbow dash has amazing anatomy with only slight stylization where as Fluttershy hss a very cartoonist anatomy/pose. So they both kinda just look terrible when you are looking at the full picture because it doesn't have anything cohesive

The dabate on "Forced Diversity" in fanart is something that pops up in the Ninjago Fandom from time to time. Since all the characters are standard lego minifigures, they don't have canon heights, body types, or skin tones, so fan artists who draw them as humans have a lot of room for creative interperetation when it comes to those things. And some of the main characters are robots so sometimes you'll get human versions of them and it's all fun stuff. Watching people get mad because someone drew a lego robot as Black or Black-coded is both funny and depressing. Just let people draw man, if you're mad about that you really need better things to do with your time than complaining about it online.
I would honestly love to see Magda develop their art style more and then redraw these! You perfectly described the "off" feeling i got when looking at Rarity and Pinkie. It's mainly the extremely inconsistent proportions and lower art quality! (Personally the only outfit I dislike is Twilight's.) Due to the proportion issues specifically, I didnt initially realize Rarity was supposed to have dwarfism until watching OctoInkz video calling out the unwarranted hate. She looked like the artist drew her similar to how they did Pinkie Pie and then just scaled her down, so I was mostly just confused when I first saw it. I feel like these issues could be solved with more improvement in their drawing. The designs aren't bad, and I hope this doesn't permanently detour Magda from drawing art!
Besides the whole proportions thing, it just looks like the only MLP media they have seen is the GIFs, none of them feel like them besides Fluttershy and Applejack. Instead of someone who looks well organized, well put together, and book smart (not that book smart has a specific look, but her reading books is just a massive part of who she is) Twilight just looks like a crypto bro who is about to start a twitter thread for her 3 followers about why it's bad to screenshot Bored Apes. Pinkie Pie is all about being out there and crazy, and not in a childish way, so the clothes looking childish don't really fit, especially for a baker. Rarity is all about self-care, modesty, and she doesn't really indulge in herself, unless it's spa treatment, so it's personally just hard to see her being that overweight, chubby maybe, but not as overweight as she is in their depiction. The poses, besides Twilight's, also match their personalities, I just wished the outfits reflected more of that since people normally dress differently based on their personalities and interests. There is nothing really WRONG with their depiction, the way they depicted them just doesn't fit the characters themselves and what they have been depicted as both personality wise and physically wise in the show.
idk i can see rarity as being overweight personally . overweight doesnt mean someones unhealthy, someone can be overweight and very healthy. it depends on that person's genetics. rarity is shown to eat ice cream whenever shes sad in the show and that gives off very emotional eating vibes to me. so she could be an emotional eater which could contribute to her gaining weight. that or a binge eater which i feel like fits her as well.

For me forced representation is when the representation is the *only* thing about their character. Like… the token black character. Their whole thing is being the only black person in their media source but them being black doesn’t do anything for their character other than have them stand out. As long as the minority being represented in the character has more character traits outside their representation their a good character. Don’t make what their representing their everything, let it just be a piece to who they are. Also. Those designs could work had they all been evenly proportioned to look like they fit together and not just slapped together on a single page. Not everyone is proportioned the same but you can recognize a human standing side by side no matter body shape. (Pinky legit looks like a giant next to her friends in this piece). Also, the quality of them each being slightly different also makes everything stand out more in a not good way. Pinky’s face is way too clear in comparison to Twilights and Others. Also this is just me, but the arm pit hair in the Rainbowdash piece bothers me but I admit that is simply because I think body hair in general is kinda gross. Nothing wrong with it and on others its fine but its difficult to see it in art and unless its done right it will bother me. Like… all the hair isn’t coming from a tiny circle area in the center of the armpit. Its more like… well a carpet. A loose, scraggly carpet that can be thicker or thinner depending on the person. Sorry had to get it off my chest. That was surprisingly bothering me a lot.
First off, I don’t think anyone should EVER get harassed over Art they make unless it’s illegal or something. Here’s my Opinions. i really do not like those redesigns for the mane 6. I can’t express enough how much I don’t like them for the mane 6. However, if this person posted these characters and said “ these are my ocs.” I would in fact love them and think they were cool. It’s tough seeing your favorite characters redesigned in a way that just doesn’t fit them at all. But it’s all about perspective, I can understand how someone might see the characters different than me. It does not mean i have to like it or accept it. Character redesigns in general are just not for me 💀. I personally wish people would JUST, make OCs instead.
re: people saying "their skin is too dark" i disagree that the skin color itself is the issue. personally for me the detail on Pinkie's face is lost when viewing the art on my PC, because of the line art. with the line color being closer to the skin tone, in addition to the liner brush being light/spotty, the details (nose especially) literally aren't visible on my monitor without zooming in. this could be remedied in multiple ways without changing the skin color itself (e.g., adding highlights, different liner style/color, etc). so imo it's a literal Skill Issue rather than a "diversity bad!" issue lol

I think people feel uncomfortable by too many differences. It means they have to clock all the differences in their head and interpret them and that makes them feel overwhelmed. Like "too different, too abnormal, too much!" Also the problem they see cis, white, thin, able bodied as the norm, so when they lack a normal anchor, they lash out. Like you said, it's also the quality of art. The artists with stronger skills have that to qualify them, so even if they get hate, they can say "well at least my art is good, you can't do better." It's a shame, because it's simply someone's own version of the characters, it's freedom of expression. No one deserves to get waves of hate for positively expression themselves with their art. I am at least glad that some diverse interpretations of the MLP characters have been normalized, because it's fun to see a cast with a variety of people.

I have to say I actually love the design this person did for applejack. Her body type is actually strong, not just muscular looking. She genuinely looks like she could easily kick down trees without breaking a sweat. The strongest weight lifters tend to be on the thicker side, and I like how that was shown with AJ :3
The problem about MLP human representations is that in the show they all appear the same body type. I understand, it was made for the sake of simplicity in animation, but there we still have a few characters who have different body types. Not mentioning the huge Celestia, we can still notice how Sassy Saddles or Cadence or Luna are taller and thinner, while Snips is thicker and so on. So we can tell that there is variety of shapes in this universe. But it appears that the main six are all the same, just like the rest of characters on the background. I personally like this lack of diversity, because this is certainly the most appealing body type in the show. I literally feel satisfied while looking at them (unlike the males though, I'd prefer Flim/Flam type of body). But while we have so many same characters, we still have some differently shaped ones. So it literally says: "Yes, there's diversity. No, the main 6 are not diverse". But when drawing them as humans it turns out pretty dull to present them as "one body type/nationality". I think Flattershy and Rarity should be lean, since they are delicate, Flattershy is weak in a way, Rarity is more like a model, while Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack are strong and more muscular, since they are connected to sports in a way. Pinkie could be chubby since she lives at confectioner's. Twilight could be average. Of course, these are stereotypes mostly, but I don't think it's bad. I think it suits them well and nothing is bad.
Okay I will explain, they are designed with their personality in mind. You know they look like healthy women with breast and not overweight. Not all women are overweight and the kind of women the the ponies are would be the kind that are not fat. I can go on a whole tangent on the force diversity too as a Latina, I hate forcing diversity and it is every where.

No one is up and arms when it comes to white/light-skinned characters, but when it's black or brown, they go bollocks crazy about it. When I was young, I was wondering why it was okay to race-swap the white characters into black, asian or etc. but not the reverse. I guess it lies within the amount of representation for each different group has, the numbers are extremely un-balanced. The white/light-skinned characters are over-represented, while the other groups are under-represented. And really, no one gives it a second-thought when the character is white/light-skinned, but when the character is black or asian, all of a sudden it is "omg forced woke" "they're brainwashing our children" or some other bullshit they say. Thank you for addressing this once again.
I think my biggest "hmm" about the darker-skinned designs is the lack of diversity on the characters themselves (lighter palms, warm/cool tones, etc); I do understand that it's a flat color piece, but the solid and uniform skin tones are really my only critique about the Mane 6 designs (I do wanna say that I like the height/weight/racial/etc diversity among the characters, just maybe the artist could've done better with a more stylized design and colors!)
Generally in dwarfism the upper body isn’t much smaller than an average persons, it’s usually the legs that are much shorter, my swimming coach had it. I think the general issue with rarity is that she was just drawn small instead of drawn like a person with dwarfism😭😭dwarfism isn’t just being smaller, generally I think that if they wanted to portray a person with dwarfism they should’ve kind of gotten the anatomy a bit better😭😭
It's brilliant to hear a fresh perspective coming from someone who has taken an art major regarding modern art. People just throw the term "modern art" around for artworks they don't like nowadays. Essentially, if it's not some sort of Chuck Close "hyperrealism" or Claude Monet impressionist painting then it's deemed worthless. Incredibly frustrating as art is about the expression of one's self, and sometimes we cannot describe that through words, so we paint, draw, or sculpt it out. Even with the above examples mentioned, back then (especially impressionists) their works were not seen as being worth any sort of value and were deemed vulgar. The artists that took part in those very important movements were told by the public that they couldn't draw. It took a long time for those works to be recognised and properly valued.
Hey, about the "forced diversity" i think something that bother people is more like the pressure peoples get for it, like, let me explain my point. As an artist with a lot of ocs (like i think i got 45 of them but anyway), i have diversity in them, obviously. But when i had less ocs i had less representation, and since i started drawing in "manga" style i sticked to the stereotypes for manga art. It was my comfort zone. And there was peoples that were like "why dont you draw more representation, why dont you do this or that, or add a non binary oc, ect" and honestly sometimes it just feels like "you dont have enough representationso you are problematic". With time, i got more at ease with my art and now i got a big diversity in my ocs, but i know sometime i was just feeling guilty because i was like "but what if it’s not enough and i get canceled" and in the end it was giving me anxiety and i struggled drawing (i dont know if what i said make sense sorry). But personally i felt like i was forced to add ocs to my universe to just please peoples, some of my friend were like "ew heterosexual ocs" (it’s just an exemple but you got it). Now it’s different because i took the time to create ocs for myself and the representation came with, but what i try to show is that, sometimes, peoples just force you to create stuff that you are not in the mood to create and for me that’s the "forced diversity" (sorry my english is horrible)
honestly all the "human designs" of the mane six i've seen have been mostly poc so i can understand the frustration a little bit, especially if you're not an artist and you've been looking for a design that matches your vision of what they'd look like. I personally see Pinkie Pie as a ginger, but I'm an artist and I can draw that. If I wasn't, it'd be a bit disheartening if all the designs I saw were so far off from what I thought, but I had no way to make my design a reality. That does not excuse insulting the artist. I just understand how it can be irritating to see the same thing, over and over and over again.
yup, so imagine how people feel when they see only non POC in media over and over; it’s frustrating right? in the end, there’s never gonna be a satisfying vision of the mane six for everyone, and I don’t think the issue is that ‘it’s always POC’; I think it’s just that everyone has a different mind. I picture pinkie as Hispanic, and rarely is she depicted as that. Is that a problem? No, why would it be? Again, she’s just a pony :3 I think for your case it’s just too little ginger representation at all, I rarely see it in any fandom. I’d be frustrated too, but I don’t think it’s as much of an “too much POC shown” issue as much as it’s an “not enough gingers shown” issue.
@@frommi_ Ah, I think I may have said it wrong. Words are kind of hard for me- I didn't mean "too much" POC representation, I just meant that it's a majority of the MLP human designs I see. It's not a problem at all, I was just saying that it's understandable to be upset / frustrated if you aren't an artist and can't draw your ideas, but nobody else seems to share those ideas. It absolutely does not excuse insulting and harassing artists who portray them as different than what you believe. It's hard for me to articulate what I mean sometimes. It just kind of irked me that people saw Pinkie's curls and immediately thought she would be black/POC if she were human. I mean, it's a reasonable assuption, but when EVERYBODY seems to assume it, it can get kind of overwhelming.
I wanna throw this out there but I think pinkie pies plus sized/African American head cannon is a great idea as someone who is plus sized and eats a lot due to stress I find people being so pressed over this as stupid yes being plus sized can be unhealthy or “forced” but sometimes it’s just how their bodies where made it depends on the person as for the rest I think the art is amazing I find the human trend on the creative side of the art community other than that keep up the great work (twilight I’m still waiting for that car)
The point about abstraction in art often being associated with mental illness or 'lel you must have been on drugz' was really great IMO, I love it as a discussion point because it just feels so... not to sound like a snob but 'uninspired'. Breaking things down to a simple but recognizable level is one of the staples of character design, especially as it relates to animation. Abstraction is the next step of that! It always makes me so irked to hear people use Alice in Wonderland (and other works of a similar time period) as part of the 'WOAHHHH HOW MANY DRUGZ WAS HE ON'- it's the most commonplace example of a meandering story with abstract visuals and wordplay, objectively the most loved example thereof. Sometimes creative folks just have a vision and lovingly put it down in a way that can be shared- to attribute fantastical scenarios with no clear objective or black and white narrative to mental illness/substance abuse/whatever is such a cop out. Just admit you're not creative, my brother LOL

But thoses are headcannons,not actual cannon. Not only that,but the character design doesn't look like it fits twilights personality at all. When making character design,you got to make sure the characters design says alot about them. (I don't support any bullyling,especially againts artist. But i feel like the designs were bad on a character design level,except fluttershy and maybe rainbow dash)
I get the concept of it but I don’t get the idea of forcing the ugliness to be perceived as nice looking. Not talking about their skin color or that they look manly mostly, but cmon give them at least eyelashes or actual boobs shape on clothes? Make girly characters have the girly characteristics even rainbow dash, I get she’s a tomboy but even tomboys have girly looking faces still.
I just don't think pinky should be plus sized since she's, very very physically active, and does this a heavier person wouldn't. I should know, I am one.
The Human designs were so bad though, i have no problem with rainbow, pinkie's just doesn't feel right, the pose was not it, twilight 💀, fluttershy pose was a little weird but i like her designthe best 💗, was 😔, Aj ngl would be tan with blonde hair, Rarity was done wrong 👁👄👁 if she had a better design she would slay with dwarfism, Pinkie would never wear that ugly outfit 🤚same as Rarity! 🌈
The only problems I have is that A) Pinkie’s color design is reaaaally wack. Not her skin tone, no. The way that the skin tone works with the rest of the chosen colors. Perhaps if she had little pink streaks instead of her whole afro being that bright shade of pink, she’d look a lot less seizure inducing in an animation and will actually allow people to focus on her face more without issue. Plus, as notes in the video. Pinkie’s clothes are literally children’s clothes. B) Rarity being plus sized and having dwarfism… in the field she’s in?? With the critics that they’ve HAD about the whole fashion industry in the show??? I think it’d work best for characters like Pinkie, Twilight, or Fluttershy. But Rarity? It just doesn’t work when the show critiqued how the fashion industry approaches appearance.

in my opinion i think that they kinda tried too hard to make everyone diverse???? like i honestly dont mind characters that are different from what social standards expect, honestly i adore those types of characters but it js feels weirdly forced??? (watch me get flamed for this💀) and ion think that they're at all accurate with what their pony versions try to represent. like it might just be me that likes to make characters look as canon as possible but here are my takes on how the characters would look like: i think that realistically pinkie pie wouldn't be too plus-sized, just kinda curvy since she both, moves a lot and eats a lot so it would be balanced enough. also as popular as the black hc is i think she would be somewhat tan?? like her pony is light pink so naturally id hc her as white but if shes out in the sun a lot then shed obv have a tan rarity DEFINITELY feels like the type of person to try and appeal to social standards so i would think that shes average height, skinny, etc. also the white color on her pony version would point to a white ethnicity imo (although the idea of black fashionistas is just

i think what i dont like is that they jump between making them more canon to completely different..??? like, pinkie has bright pink hair but apple jack has black hair unlike her original counter part. they kind of just jump between that and it makes them look off next to eachother
My opinion on like human versions or character redesigns in general is that its up to the artist. In the end, they're fictional ponies, so who cares what they look like. Yeah there can be good or bad designs, as well as good or bad art quality, but in the end, art is up to interpretation and shouldn't be forced to conform. Great video, its very good to hear thoughts on the matter, its unfortunate that people think its okay to be crazy in comment sections

I see "forced diversity" (the term is way too broad to actually make any sense so I use it VERY loosely) is when they take an existing character and changes it to fit what they’re trying to make it into. For example: Claudia from monster high gen 3. Why, when she changed to become more diverse, did she become a nerd? Why couldn’t she have just stayed a fashion icon? The issue is they add these "flaws" that are just stereotypes that ruin characters, and it sucks
I’m going to input my opinion on this case. As an artist myself I enjoy seeing people trying out different body types and representations. (In fact, I’m trying to work on that myself but I don’t think it’s going too well ;-;) Either way, I say it’s mostly about the proportions of the characters. Some of them just look off, like others look way bigger (not the weight-wise) than the others like as you said it seemed like they were different images copied and put together. Otherwise, I think the art is fine. Not my cup of tea but it’s fine and doesn’t need nor does it warrant any sort of harassment. (Similar to Hazbin Hotel. I never really saw the trend as funny as I know that Vizzie has drawn characters that differ from the thin ones. The thinner ones are just more… shown? In the limelight more? So they typically get more recognition and more popular.) Now, the whole ‘they’re too dark point’ could probably be defended by the lineart, like you said, it’s sometimes hard to see the lines of their faces. And when people say it’s forced representation, I think it’s because it’s been a bit more mainstream to have representation everywhere. And most of the time people see it it’s poorly done and I guess people just become sick of it. (I.e Superman’s gay son in one of the D.C comics as it didn’t fit well with his character’s pace and or development in the story. Or maybe Disney, example, Mulan’s live adaptation where they removed Shang because it was a ‘power imbalance’ or Snow White’s Live adaptation actor when she was rambling about how much the live action.) So because of all of this, when there is tons of representation in a piece and specifically one where it won’t cater to the audience (specifically Tiktoks since the Art community there is known for making hot anime characters) unnecessary and rude comments flood in.
The problem I have with it is that the characters don’t look like themselves like pinkie pies OK because yeah you can tell it’s pinkie pie but if you took apple jack and asked me to guess that was apple jack then i wouldn’t guess it without a hint
Forced diversity? It only feels forced if it is the characters main personality trait. I love writing characters for how their diversity it important but isnt the main plot! Like a webcomic idea me and my friend are working on! Based on 2 moth bff's, one is a Aromantic pansexual (like me) and the other is Asexual! The whole point of the comic? To try in survive and be the traitors to the kingdom they are bc the government is extremely corrupt and is tyranical. No outside help bc they think every other living thing is dead. :3
I actually really like rarity design she is wearing that jellyfish top with a pencil skirt I feel like if they just added a few more finished drafts of the clothes it would have lined up I don't think her being plus size would bother her she see beauty in any form and every shape and in a way adds a air of Romanticism ( in the traditional since ) that's just my opinion of course her and fluttershy were my favorite and literally if she drew them in scale to each other they would look pretty good
Another problem is that there isn't much shading/rendering and humans are 3D so It doesn't have as much life in it. Plus I think the reason why people can't see the lines is because they're so thin. Overall, a good concept but the execution needs work. I can't wait to see how they progress!
I always leaned more towards the Amish Pinkie Pie more then the black because she was raised in a very Amish based family and culture, but even then, there are so many black pinkie's that i found to be really cute.

I have no problem with people making anthropomorphic horses into humans, and diversity is welcomed as it just expands the different stories you can make about a character based on traits they exhibit, something they’ve experienced in the show, or just an overall head canon. However, I would say that head canons need to stem from something, like the way a character acts or even a color pattern they wear frequently, so you can see were the interpretation comes from..I feel like this certain art piece is all over the place because some of the characters just don’t feel like themselves, I’d say fluttershy being stalky is the only one that really makes sense by way she try’s to make herself smaller by curling into herself. Pinky also still feels like herself since she still has her cheery exterior and trade mark curly pink fro, although I would add some shading on the face to make her facial features pop against her dark skin, but it’s cute nonetheless. Rainbow dash, Rarity, and Applejack don’t really feel like themselves, but you still have their personality’s perfectly captured and shining through, like rarity’s sass, rainbows confidence and Applejacks good old southern charm. It’s not my business to analyze how someone interprets fictional characters but I feel like Applejack would look a bit more like herself if her curls were blonde (don’t say it wouldn’t match her skin tone cause I have seen it been done flawlessly), cause without atleast one of her original trademark features she just looks like someone cosplaying a cowboy, I like the idea of rarity having dwarfism because it’s shown in the show how she’s always had a big personality that goes beyond being contained in her physical form, it says small but with the personality of 10! I also do see rainbow not being one to shave the pits since she’d totally be comfy just leaving her body hair how it is, maybe give her a lightning bolt shoulder tattoo, an eyebrow slit, and some Pegasus wing retro foam wire headphones. Twilight on the other hand, maybe give here glasses and a less.. “akward rizz” kinda vibe? Although I do feel like she would be one to be like that so I guess it doesn’t matter. What I’m saying (because I really went off the point there) is that I do see a bit of each pony in these characters, I just feel like it should be more personalized so they look less like cosplayers and more like themselves? Whatever “themselves” is. I wouldn’t go as far to say that I hate them though because everybody has a different style and everybody grows and evolves, what the artist needs is a helping, supportive hand not thousands of people spitting on the metaphorical grave you’ve all already dug for this persons self confidence.
