I’m at 1:41 and I just purchased the game. I love Air Land & Sea, it stays in my car so I can pull it out and play at the pub. I bought this one to sit on my shelf and be admired.

I'm lucky I managed to find it somewhere. Me and my friend loved Air, Land and Sea but felt we had run our course with it after about a dozen plays. This looks like it has far more longevity.

This was my #1 at Gencon. Went to the release party and had a blast talking to the designer. Fantastic game and expect more expansions to come.

I can happily recommend "Sea Salt & Paper" as a small game alternative for people who want a small very clever card game but their wife can't get past the sci-fi visuals of Compile. On the other hand, I as a "hardcore" gamer also enjoy it.

This game feels like it could've used some basic iconography. An icon for flip a card, an icon for draw a card, etc. Things like that. It looks like there's too much text to instantly grok a board state.

Honestly, as good as the FFG era was on themes and vibes, the game under Null Signal has never been better, they’ve been crushing it on card design and faction diversity.

@@tigriscallidus4477 it’s not always as good as FFG (IMO), but art direction has gotten *vastly* better. They’ve actually hired some of the old artists, like Liiga and Adam Doyle. Can’t speak to the EU costs, but if they’re still too high it’s always possible to do print on demand, takes a couple weeks but those costs are reasonable. I know they’re generally working on making the game more accessible, and more of a normal retail product.

I picked up Starfighter at a convention a couple years ago. I assume it's out of print now, but it uses almost exactly these same card mechanics. Abilities activate when they become visible, and you can use them to move, flip, and rotate yours or your opponent's cards. The presentation is way better on this than on Starfighter, but it's a little uncanny how similar they are. I half expected it to be the same designer.

Update: I arrived at the booth about 30 mins after it sold out. But the production is gorgeous and for €20 it’s an absolute steal! They’re expecting to have the next batch printed by Christmas and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy.

I was following the gist of the game until he got to the part about the lane themes. It seemed like a game about deciding where to play cards, but you have to play cards to the lane that matches their theme? And do you and you opponent have prebuilt decks to ensure your cards match the lanes in front of you? I feel like I may have missed something crucial.

I have a complaint. You show me cool game. I show it to my son. We go looking for where to buy cool game. Sold out everywhere. Except in the UK. And we're in the US. So, now I need to look into used copies on BGG because who knows when a reprint will be coming.

I've learned to appreciate this. It's like a cool down period. In 6-24 months when the amazing game on SuSD/NPI is actually available to mortals again you'll have had a chance to think about if you really want it, and production issues/errata will be sorted out if you do.
