In my opinion I'm not sure how your not at 100k your the smoothes menswear advisor to date. Dialog on point with uniqueness and with accurate and recordable information. I'm perplexed about it.
I own two pairs of TLB and also own Paul Evans, Carmina, Allen Edmonds and it is very hard to justify spending more on shoes than what you get with TLB. TLB is a crazy good shoe!
Great video, great taste. I started looking for oxfords under $500. I was building some TLB Mallorcas very similar to these when I decided to find a video on how to properly polish museum leather. That led me to your channel. You just got a new subscriber here. Best of luck and keep it up!
I wrote somewhere in your video collection that I ordered a pair of TLB (some of these days I will mix it up with BLT…) after watching one of your reviews. I got them a couple of days ago and my God; I am a happy camper! Absolutely perfect shoes in every way! I almost cried putting them on. No kidding. And Toni and his crew… fantastic people! I have found a new home for my feet! Thanks Vlad! One moment…. Oh yes! My feet are telling me to give you a digital hug!
I’m so glad to hear that you’re happy with your purchase. They’re excellent shoes and I can’t say enough about Toni and his team. I was wearing my latest pair yesterday and enjoyed every step.
My man, I'm also an extreme shoe enthusiast. I like many brands, but certainly the clean "grown man" look, even with a pair of jeans and polo shirt. Great contents.
I have 2 pairs from the Artista Line, Burgundy Museum Calf Oxfords, and Dark Brown Hatch Grain Leather Oxfords and I chose a Red Lining for them, my FAVORITE BRAND FOR THE PRICE POINT, EXCELLENT DETAILS.
You're a mind reader Vlad! I'm thinking about getting the TLB black cap toe in the Van Gogh last. Great content as always. Two years? That is some will power my friend.
A surprise unboxing video! Woo! I love TLB and you're probably the largest reason I took the plunge. I wore a wholecut in the van Gogh last to my wedding. Have you seen their new loafers? Those brown suede tassel loafers are 🔥🔥🔥
thank you for talk about Carlos Santos shoes. Its important for the promotion of Portugal products. Once again thank you e congratulations for the channel my friend. From Portugal, i salute you.
Thanks for the video. I am definitely going to check these guys out! And it's nice to see that you are a man of your word. That sports coat is 🔥 🔥 🔥!!!!
Vlad have you ever tried Alden shoes? Made right here in Middleboro Massachusetts. You got a few retailers in NY. Alden of Madison Ave carries the stock catalog and they do custom runs also. I got 2 pr boots and 3 pr shoes. Love them because I found a last that fits me great so I can order custom make ups online if they're made in my preferred last. Badass Lord BTW
Salute to you, Vlad. Copped a pair of Septieme Largeur Anselme II in brown off your recommendation a while back when you made your list. Really nice pair. TLB Mallorca was on your list as well. Looking forward to a pair in the not so distant future. Bro..really nice to have you back.
Discipline man, 2yrs with those bangers sitting in the closet wow. I prefer a rounded last as sometimes the elongated lasts makes my foot look a little long. Definitely gonna look at TLB as I have been on Meermin and Spier & MacKay Goodyear welted line but these are a step up in the right direction. Thanks for the content.
I don’t love the aesthetic but the biggest reason is because they’re more prone to heavy creasing because it’s just one piece of leather across the vamp.
Vlad, TLB is my favorite! I like the new last and yes, Toni is a great guy. About those Carlos Santos, there are cobblers that will replace the welt making those shoes resoleable many more times. Potter & Sons is where I would send my shoes for that type of job. Have you thought about sending those shoes back to Carlos Santos for that repair? Again, I love my TLBs, but I have a pair of Allen Edmonds 5th Ave. in Chili that I seem to wear most often. I'm just saying, Peace!
What’s up, Arthur? I’ve thought about it but at this point, I think I’m happy keeping them as just a vintage piece not to be worn again. We had a good run together. But yes, Potter & Sons do a really good job by all accounts.
Not sure I would agree 100% about your comments. I have not had the chance of trying TLB but from a leather and last options Carmina offers more flexibility at least. In terms of price Andres Sendra is in a competitive brackett with much more offerings of colors. J Fitzpatrick also plays in the spanish made realm and you could also include Meermin in the bunch even when manufacturing is in China. Once I get a chance of trying TLB Ill come and revisit my comment. Thanks for sharing and also the content!
Thanks for watching! Keep in mind that I’m giving my opinion, of course. And I do agree that some of the brands that you’ve mentioned do have a wider range of options than TLB does as they’re still a very new brand. With that said, if one is comparing apples to apples. Meaning the same exact style from all those brands that you mentioned, TLB would be the clear winner IMO. That’s not to say the others are bad btw. But once you’re able to check out the Artista line in person, please let me know what you think.
IMO, TLB has a more impressive oxford collection than other oxford shoes from brands in the same segment, especially those made from the Van Goth and Picasso lasts. Carmina has an advantage over TLB in that they have hundreds of designs, different types of leather, and lasts to cater to various customer groups. In addition, they have the Inca last with a beautiful almond toe in this segment, something I find TLB still lacks. However, the quality of the finishing and the recent customer service of Carmina is often very poor. J Fitzpatrick usually focuses on designs that are more creative and casual, they cannot compete with TLB when it comes to formal designs. Meermin falls into a much lower segment; their quality of finish and the aesthetics of their lasts cannot compare to the above-mentioned brands. As for Andres Sendra, I have not experienced their shoes, so I have no comments.
Totally worth 100k subs to BEGIN WITH . 300k shoukd be more appropriate. Dont ever change your style and contents my man everything is just about perfectm youll get there quickly
Great video, you really do a great job! I'm wondering about the Carlos Santos shoes you kind of replaced with these. How long did you have them, and how often did you wear them to need 3 re-soles? I just got my first pairs of Carlos Santos and am hoping for them to last a while.
I love the look of my TLB Artistas. But unfortunately the shape doesn't quite match my feet. I have a wide foot but a slim ankle, and these gap just a tad too much. Turns out the Detroit EEE last from Carmina works fantastic for my feet. As for TLB, I'll be switching my focus to their boots, but I can't get along with their shoes. Such a shame, because they are beautiful. (My most recent pair is a 195 in burgundy Museum calf without medallion.) Edit: I see that yours are gapping quite a bit at the ankle too...
I’d say you have to buy the shoes that work for your feet. It doesn’t matter how nice they are if they don’t fit. As far as the gaping that you see, the funny thing is I’ve never seen it before but then I think I know why it happened. I’m using a gimbal and recording my own shoes. So I’m bent over at the waist putting a lot of pressure on them. It’s not there when I’m standing and walking straight. I hope that makes sense.
Great vid Vladimir, thanks again for kick ass content! I was never able to pull the plug on a pair of tlb Majorca since I'm just not keen on a chiselled last (my understanding of that is the captoe area would have a strong edge on both sides). Soft square is the king of lasts I reckon, artista one looks awesome 👍 how does it compare to meccariello (my current fav) , is the last waist as tight?
No experience with Meccariello yet, unfortunately. But they’re very high on my list. Bus as far as TLB, their Goya last is round and doesn’t have those sharp edges.
A) What the hell is up with your fan enjoying the excellent content you create and holding back that SUB….must be a hater. B) Absolutely beautiful shoe, I only own Allen Edmonds & one pair of Herrings. I’ll definitely look into this company. Have a great day….stay sharp my friend.
Great video SIr, so.... head to head , carmina vs TLB Artista , who has the better leather, suede, sole and last? Im about to build my dress shoe collection. i want to be sure I'm picking the better option in each category
Good review. You omitted pointed out the closed channel stitching, which is an indicator of a higher quality shoe. And, secondly, do you have to endure the sometimes (but not always) slightly painful process of breaking in a shoe to your foot?
Just ordered the Dbl Monk Strap in dark brown from the Artista line. Im going to get the Suede from Carmina next time. I wasn't going to be a few months until i get them, they wasn't in stock so i couldn't wait.
Hey vlad Hope you are doing great I subscribed after the intro did not realize i haven’t before 🤣 Wanted to know your thoughts on a black cap toe oxford on the goya last. Would it be more comfortable ? And more classic? Need new pair of shoes for wedding occasions
mr vlad, what type of shoe would you recommend for me to buy for a first leather shoe? I don’t have suits yet and I’m still building my wardrobe (starting on the casual side like blazers and odd trousers). brown oxford? loafer? derby? any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!
Can you imagine trying to take that girl from the intro out on a date? The hoops she would make you jump through 😂 As for the shoes, probably best goodyear welted shoes from Europe at that price point. I only have one pair from TLB, a SpTD I picked up during the pandemic. Gotta be honest though I love them, they are my most worn ones.
Subscribed this week…really like the content and presentation. I was wondering. Are You familiar with the brand Morjas and if yes do You like them ? I own two pairs so I was curious if You have experience with them.
Just about to pull the trigger on the TLB 35 / VELAZQUEZ / MUSEUM CALF BURGUNDY split toe Derby - based on your feedback on the brand. Anything I should know???? Im in the EU so shipping is free...and I'll buy with the shoe trees. Any discount codes?? by any chance? Thanks Simon.
That’s a great choice, the Velasquez is a nice derby last, you won’t be disappointed.. Unfortunately, they don’t have any discount codes but they’re priced well. Happy New Year and enjoy the shoes. Tell them you’ve seen me talking about them.
@@v_r_ For sure I will mention you. I was also thinking, maybe I can give you a " subscriber review" and send you some pictures...as you were to one to intro. me to the brand. Share another subscribers view on the shoes, the ordering process etc. What do you think? Cheers, Simon
Hi Vlad, I noticed some gaps during your walking I'd like to ask you is the gaping problem appears with tlb or not? Because I was annoyed a lot with my Vass shoes and I want to try tlb What's your opinion
@@v_r_ just bought some a pair of vass and the customer service is top notch. Maybe I'm spoiled that I expected that I could get the exact type of shoe I wanted in the size I wanted but they did have something that I wanted when I saw it. A little more flashy than I'm used to wearing but nobody in the office can touch me ever.
Fabulous shoes. Very tempted by TLB but worried about fit so good to hear some feedback on sizing. And while I'm at it do some people think subscribing is like marrying someone? Just subscribe girl.
I’m currently building my made to order custom 110 Artista’s in museum calf, but I’m torn between the Van Gogh & Picasso lasts. What do you suggest Vladimir?
Congrats! They fit the same so it really just comes down to preference. The Picasso is probably the more common shape with its soft square while the Van Gogh is a mixture of round and soft square, sort of like an almond shape. I’m a fan of both but prefer the Van Gogh slightly. Btw if you use my link to get to their site, I’ll earn a small commission at no cost to you. Thanks in advance! bit.ly/TLBmallorca
Thanks, sir a while back you were kind enough to recommend a source for dress sneakers that I need to wear due to my disability, can you remind me of that source please?
Planing on geting a pair of artista 113. The only thing... i like my stuff to look best as much as possible and leather souls are getting rough after just one day. How can i make them last longer, how can i protect the souls? I'm thinking on buying som rubber souls shoes instead all thou i really want thos artista 113, any advice? Thank you!
you've gotten me to order these but they don't have plain cap toes in dark brown, just the punched stuff, I have to go custom, would you choose boxcalf or vegano if you hadn't gone for museum?
Carlos Santos’ Handgrade line is similar to the Artista line but TLB is better IMO. Btw, TLB is having a 15% special on their made-to-order program right now. Use this link to get a free shoe care kit with your order. bit.ly/4eiOkCu
I subscribed during the first video I watched from you. Enjoyed your classes for the same reason; you make “style” tangible and understandable. Thank you.
So it the day of the draft young men have been choose to to play in league in which will change there lives and I watching the suits and I am like yikes !!! so I figure why not ask what sports commentator dress the best Shannon sharp Stephen a smith Louis ridick
Got you! Yeah they’re less expensive here. Back when I did my first unboxing, they were way less than Carmina here but in Europe, they were more. But Yearn is an unbelievable value. I have an unboxing coming in the next couple weeks.
@@v_r_ thought that might be it. Bridlen is Indian, The Gentle Gazette recently did shoe rankings, called them a Japanese brand, placed them in A tier with Carlos Santos and ranked Carmina as B tier. Kosta at Misiu Academy trashed Bridlen, though, heel too long, balance and proportions off, the heel part of the upper way too high, the cap protruding over the outsole up front, nice leather, though. You'd be a good guy to provide a take on them
Of course...which is where Carmina has them beat. Theyre alot bigger and more established with more variety. Just like one could also say that: of course TLB will have greater attention to detail, as theyre doing much lower output & much less volume, so each pair should have a certain level of refinement. Both shoemakers have their advantages, based on what one is looking for.
From what I'm observing it seems that channels like these preach fashion like it's a religion. Either you're a devout follower or you're not. Geez.. man. Fashion comes and goes. I'm not convinced that women are looking you up and down and passing judgement on every facet of your wardrobe. C'mon , you think they're looking at your shoes and thinking - "Bingo, this is definitely the man for me" ?
That’s where you wrong, my friend and must he new here. This isn’t a fashion channel, this is a style channel. Style is eternal, the principals that I talk about are the same ones that my dad was preaching 35 years before me and my sons will be after I’m gone. Please do not confuse me with other RU-vidrs, I’m different. And lastly, I don’t dress for women although that helps that they appreciate it, I dress for me.
I don't think a woman would fall in love with you based on what you are wearing, but if you are wearing crap clothes she mightn't give you the opportunity. I think it is a factor among a few. It isn't that hard to improve your style, and making a good start watching this video.
