This was actually really helpful for me since I'm planning on visiting the Great Smoky Mountains, I thought the same of Nashville when I was planning but was giving it a second thought. Now I made up my mind and I won't go. I think it's a pretty and fun city, just not for me. Thank you!

Glad you found it helpful! It really is a cool place with good music and food but as a tourist I felt I needed to stay on Broadway and that just wasn’t the vibe of our trip. Enjoy the mountains!

I've only briefly stopped in Nashville on a bus trip layover and it's been years. I haven't been to excited about visiting again, lived in Atlanta for while but never made the 4.5 hour drive over. All the hype kind of turned me off and the major attractions listed didn't seem too interesting to me, especially compared to the rest of Tennessee and everything else in driving distance. This is good to know. Jazz>Country music hands down for me! I LOVE Charleston and Milwaukee and can't wait to visit Kansas City. Great video man! -Seth

@@JakeMillerDoesTravel Nashville has a very large system of greenways and parks as well as three lakes. Within one hours drive you can find over 100 waterfalls many of them very large. You can also find very rugged hiking, rock climbing, primitive camping etc. at places such as South Cumberland State Park or Fall Creek Falls SP just to name a few. Just within walking distance of Broadway you can find several art museums including the Frist Art Museum which is currently housing a Picasso exhibit and the only museum who will show this exhibit in North America. You can find ghost tours, ax throwing, escape rooms go cart racing, and art crawls. There are also numerous summer festivals and special events such as the Nashville Grand Prix (Formula One racing through the streets of downtown. Uhm, there's the Nashville zoo, antique shops galore, boutique shops or you can even take a helicopter tour, zip lining, cliff diving, or visit one of the areas water parks. You can visit Civil War sites in and around Nashville (Battles of Nashville, Stones River, and Franklin). The Cheekwood Botanical Gardens is amazing. You can spend an entire day just exploring inside the Gaylord Opryland Hotel which is free and well worth the visit. Hobby Clubs and Leagues of every kind.... even medieval fighting matches and 1860's rules vintage baseball. You can visit one of the nearby wineries or distillerys. When Covid is passed, you can attend Braodway thatre productions at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. But.... yes, one does need a car to enjoy all that Nashville has to offer.

Thanks for watching! The city is fun and if you went you’ll have fun. But how I like to travel I prefer other cities that have more options. They do have great live country music and food you just have to get off Broadway!
@douggie5339
@douggie5339 3 года назад
I stayed near downtown Nashville over the summer for contract work and really hope to get assigned there again. The video isn't making any sense. You never specified what you wanted to do. It's very vague. All you had to do was look up the things you wanted to do on your computer or phone. The frist art center, state of Tennessee museum, car museum, train museum, are right downtown. The downtown area also had all kinds of recreational facilities, though some were open with limited capacity. Some were on Broadway, some were not. There were also numerous art galleries downtown. If you don't like live music performed by musicians in the industry then why go to Broadway in the first place? I travel a lot and downtown Nashville has much more to do than most other cities in the country. Again, maybe you should have just done a basic search and you would have found things to do instead of hoping they would just bump into you. As far as the food, if you wanted ramen, biscuits, and slices of pizza those are downtown as well. As far as unique goes, I don't know what that means. Food is either good or it isn't. Uber, Lyft, bicycle rentals, rooftop restaurants, public art, historical sites, museums are also in Nashville. No offense but this video is ???
@JakeMillerDoesTravel
@JakeMillerDoesTravel 3 года назад
Hey! Thanks for the extremely detailed response I really appreciate the effort you put into it and I'll try to provide better clarity on my video. It is hard to specify what I wanted to do because I try to approach each city differently and take what it has to offer. I actually do extensive research before going to a city to find restaurants, activities, historical sites, etc. You don't just run into the Parthenon in Nashville it's pretty far away from downtown haha My general feeling is simply what you stated in your last statement and that is most things in Nashville are in other cities that don't get the same hype as a travel destination. Nashville has museums, art galleries, live music (which I do like), a variety of restaurants, and so much more. But Kansas City also has museums, art galleries, live music and a variety of restaurants but I never hear about people going there for fun. Milwaukee also has all those things, not the same quality of live music, but offers unique experiences such as kayaking through the city or has beaches right there. When it comes to the food what I meant by unique was you can find beignets in most large cities around the US but there is something different about getting them in New Orleans. I do think the Nashville Hot Chicken was really good and is iconic for the region. What kind of cities do you typically travel to? Wonder if you have an recommendations?
@douggie5339
@douggie5339 3 года назад
I don't get your logic. it sounds like since every city has historical sites and museum that should disqualify a city from being visited. If people prefer to visit Nashville over Kansas City or Milwaukee then its because they enjoy what Nashville has over those places. Maybe those places need to step their game up. Nashville is a fun and exciting city. People like going there and I've been there and I see why. If those other places can't match it then that's just how it is. FYI, you can also kayak, canoe, row, and paddle board on the river in downtown Nashville.
@JakeMillerDoesTravel
@JakeMillerDoesTravel 3 года назад
@@douggie5339 I don't think I'm getting my point across but appreciate you following back up and having the conversation with me. My general point is that a lot of the things people might like about Nashville can be found in other cities. But you are right if people visit both Nashville and Kansas City and like Nashville better for whatever reason, whether that is the vibe, better country music, the proximity to the river then other cities need to step it up. I just assume, maybe wrongly, that people don't give those other cities a chance and just go to Nashville and want to highlight other cities. But as I mentioned if you are into country music, country music history, live music, and bars Nashville does not disappoint!

@@JakeMillerDoesTravel yes, we went to several bars. They were packed! The girls outnumbered the guys( which is rare!). Only one club required masks, but everything else was normal. It was like being in America again. The best bar for karaoke was " Lonnies". $5 cover, but what great folks working in there. Great time for singles, groups, and couples. Pierre does a great job highlighting downtown.
