Pretty late to comment but the close to 80% staying in HDB refers to the entire Singapore population, not just Singaporeans. 20 years ago that figure was closer to 90%.

there are many videos by foreigners that praise how good/great SG is, this is just for content effect. we Singaporeans will definitely be proud of it, but we should not be complacent or think we are really that good. As for videos always showing how we have good leaders, we should not forget all previous generations, including my parents and before who have worked so silently hard to make a better life. we are successful, not only cos of LKY, PAP. but also our dearest average Singaporeans.

Are you not able to code switch when conversing with local against foreigners in proper english rather then singlish. Thought so we should be aware whether talking casually to local alike and commercial/business environment face to face. Please do not judge those who speak singlish do not have the ability to speak the language

It may be started from there. But it has turn out to be a slang, just like Cantonese, Hokkien, Hainanese. Where people could master both Cantonese, Hokkien, Mandarin at the same time.
