As a buyer I despise whatnot. Probably great for a seller if they have a massive social media following - prices are insane. But if I’m looking for something I will never find it on whatnot
It really depends on what you're looking for as a buyer. I use whatnot to buy vintage and designer clothing to resell and it's possible to pick up some amazing deals if you take the time to search. It's not for everyone, but for me it's actually become a reliable place for sourcing stock.
I find as a buyer I haven’t got time to sit and watch all the way through shows . I have got some bargains when it first started but I got a little bored with it. That’s probably just me as it’s nice to know if it’s worth me sitting through a show because if items are not pre listed personally I wouldn’t hang around .It’s a good option and alternative to have though as I’ve seen some have a lot of success with it .
I agree, everyone begging me to join it and constantly banging on about it is a turn off too. There are so many Instagrammers constantly asking me to join their show. Surely it can't be that successful if people are still begging people to join up, I'd rather wait for ebay to roll out their live selling platform.
Enjoyed your show. Just the right pace. Some sellers talk too much and you get bored of waiting for the item to run. I have bought clothes mainly for myself to wear. Still buy off other platforms so haven't abandoned thise. Well done x
Hi Nic, a bit random but I was in bed listening to this video and for a few seconds thought I was listening to Simon Cowell! You sound so much like him 🤭 Julie (Essex, but listening from Spain)
You absolutely can make it work without a social media following as some of the most successful sellers i watch on there have proved. You do however have to have a presence on Whatnot not just do your own thing...watch other shows, comment get a presence there and you will get new followers not just relying on your old followers on RU-vid. Getting to know others on whatnot is the key. I've not seen either of you on any shows I've watched which means others possibly haven't.
Great points to make. The best (most successful) Whatnot sellers I watch didn't have a preexisting RU-vid/SM following. Whatnot is a community in its own right and having a presence there is important.... watching other shows, supporting others.
Your auction was great, and I'm glad I managed to get some of the games! I am on whatnot most days (as a buyer) and you did incredibly well for your first show. Many sellers who have a lot more experience on whatnot make more mistakes, or their streams become slow and boring. Maybe it's because we 'know' you through youtube, but your chaos just came across as you being natural haha. Whether you keep on doing Whatnot or decide it's just a now and again thing, it's definitely another string to your bow and an option for clearing some stock. Looking forward to seeing more!
I found it very relaxing, once I figured out you were on early, and despite the fact that images weren't streaming on my computer and I also couldn't bid from the computer either. I shall make an effort to get organised for the next one! I don't think whatnot is for me really but only because there's no one else like you on there atm, all the rest of it seems to be stuff that I'm not interested in.
Sadly couldn't make the second sale either (sisters birthday) but I've downloaded the app, and got my free credit now, so I should hopefully see you next time!
Your first stream was fun and chaotic, i enjoyed watching, i purchased the first item. Been a wotnot member for a while since Jon Luc started (used his sign up code also his first purchase) found Wotnot can sometimes be a good source for ebay stock, look forward to your next show 😊
I didn’t catch it, but I am just not sure I like the idea of buying or selling this way. I don’t think it will work for the introverts amongst us. I do RU-vid but I can control that - I think Whatnot would just be too stressful. Best of luck though!
As a regular buyer I can't fault Amazon prime. Free next day delivery even on Sundays is a big focus for me. I'm now moving away from ebay and focus more on Amazon.
I watched and enjoyed being part of a first time experience all together with a lot of other people and found that a bit exciting. As someone who just about scrapes into the Boomer gen though, I didn''t love Whatknot particularly. I didn't like the speed of the auctions. I have watched your Sunday evening RU-vids (usually after the event), but occasionally live, and I prefer your auctions as the pace is slower and it feels a lot better waiting for all the bids to come in. I like the pre-auction look at all the goods too. . More like a proper auction. You are right to keep up to date with the latest trends by trying WhatKnot, especially as it is not great putting all your eggs in one basket with Ebay, and it is interesting for us all to keep up to date too.
Was crazy that people were paying more than Ebay prices in some cases, I'm guessing for the simple fact they follow you or just got caught in the moment.
Of course you've done well and had lots of watchers in your first show. Your RU-vid following will keep buying from you so you're not selling items for £1. For me personally I can't stand it. The shows are too long and slow and if a seller hasn't preloaded what they are going to be selling on the show I will not sit there for hours waiting to see what tat they are trying to sell.
Your stream was fun. Most of the other live auctions have seen have had less than ten people following and I was able to use my free tenner (thanks) to get some really good retro gaming stuff. I think you might do well on whatnot because you have a decent social media presence
@@oncelovedtreasures6136 I think most sellers do not look at terms of service. You are not allowed to use copyrighted music in a sell stream but virtually all of them do. One day the music industry will crack down on them
I thought the it went well for a first show and it was great that you had almost 200 people at the start and also 165 at the end. It might help when selling mugs to pre-load some of the rare ones as a Buy it Now at a higher price & you can put the same weight in for each mug. You can pick Jon & Charlotte's brains for Whatnot tips on the Sunday chat.
@@NicHills I thought you might provide prices and comps compared to what you would get on eBay - I guess the advantage is you sell in bulk rather than reach best prices ?
