I'm doing a test of both indoor vermicomposting and outdoor traditional composting however, I occasionally remove the worms from my vermihut and add them to my traditional compost to see if they will speed up the process since I don't have enough nitrogen to make it run super hot.
I've been vermicomposting for about a year now and agree with you, it's totally worth it. My worm bins are primarily in-ground varieties, but I have done a couple standalone bins as well. I find the in-ground work best for me tho'. Thanks for sharing your worm composting journey.
Hey Scott, thank you for joining me on my channel! I have never tried in ground worm farming, sometime I may look into for next spring! Seems like something that would work well here on the east coast. :)
@@TheWormWhisperer - Thank you for having a channel. I primarily do it in raised beds and being in ground definitely helps keep them insulated during colder months... Doesn't get crazy cold where I am in California tho'. The worms can come and go between the compost bins and raised beds as they please. I've keep the raised beds heavily composted and it's amazing how many worms I find both in the composting bins and under the heavy layer of compost. Less need to sift casting as well, since they do much of their work right in the beds. Cheers...
Once it is composted, it is then considered a carbon instead of a nitrogen. So once it composted already and fed to the worms it will not longer heat up in the worm bin and hurt your worms. Thank you for watching!
I actually don't sell worms or casting myself, however I have a video that you can check out on my channel all about selling castings and worms. Thank you for watching! :)
Hey Myrtle! Sure I don't see why not. As with anything new that you are adding the the bin start with very small amounts, see how the worms react to it. If they seem to react poorly to it then stop adding immediately. If they are eating it and doing well keep adding more! Happy worm farming!
Excellent video!! So many great benefits to worm farming, and you explained them well. I love how quick and easy it is compared to regular compost…and the fact that it can be done year round indoors without slowing down!!🪱🪱🪱
