Is XDefiant Dead Already?

Xdefiant could sure use some party gamemodes like gun game, prophunt. The game is literally the place for party modes

For me its the constantly B-hopping in every gun fight i get in is just annoying and give me a headache after 5mins of playing.

They still haven’t fixed the hit reg. I’ll come back when it’s playable

This game just needs twice the amount of content plus stuff to grind for like challenges

Game is clearly fading away rapidly. They thought they had enough content for each season lol. Tying new content to a battle pass is a horrible idea

There are a number of things that needs to be in place for it to be great imo: - A proper prestige mode - A working ranked play mode - Killcams - Player of the game montage - Working hit detection - Things to grind for, more content - Objective score, both xp and weapon xp - A new ability to replace the spiderbot in total - Team balancing is too strict, leading to uneven player distributions - Weapon and player challenges to grind for to unlock skins, calling cards, etc. Maybe even "exclusive" calling cards for more difficult challenges that the majority will have a harder time unlocking. Example: Go on a 15 kill streak 5 times rewards you with an animated, or golden calling card for that particular challenge - Some store items should be unlockable through gameplay, as well as an option to buy. I don't like that some of the cool things in the store is only obtainable through spending money - Why is disbanding lobbies still a thing?

The 1 map per month is rough imo

I left the game… with all the upsides and with all the COD downsides, COD core gameplay is just miles better… extra content is irrelevant, in the basics there is no competition.

it will be a background game you wont see updated loadout guide/tips tricks vids on youtube/twitch but you can still find matches quickly this game was never about 100+ TIPS TO IMPROVE, BEST HIDDEN GUN nah, kick back relax, pop a beer, play, kiss your wife and sleep

My buddy and I are old cod heads that don’t play cod anymore and xdefiant has been filling that void of a quick twitchy shooter that we’ve been missing. Can’t wait for the updates to come.

I've heard a lot of people say there's nothing to grind for which I'd agree, the only thing keeping me going is trying to unlock the new guns on the battle pass. I think it was a bit of an oversight that player level is basically worthless, in CoD it's a massive dopamine hit seeing that number go up and unlocking new guns, killstreaks, equipment but in this game you just get it and that's it plus no prestige. Since you don't unlock anything with player level I'm not even sure what you'd be getting for prestige and there's nothing to lose and regrind for like the older CoDs

My only issue with the game currently is it is seriously lacking in maps. 1 map a month for a season isn’t going to cut it when the base set of maps were so limited already.

I love playing the game whenever I can but getting killed when I'm miles behind a corner (still) is a quick way for me to stop. Once they get that fixed I can see myself playing almost every day

I'm literally just waiting till they fix the hit detection and being killed way around corners. That's the only thing stopping me from playing. I was on XD every day when it first dropped but those issues ended up making me and all my friends stop playing.

The game is stagnating, not dying. Season 2 will have a boost in players then at the end of said season it'll stagnate once more. Rainbow 6 is the same way, liveservice games function by bringing back returning players whilst attracting new ones.

This is why not releasing a game until it is completed is so important so that you don't leave a bad taste in peoples mouths and you can focus on new content and not completing/fixing things that should have been figured out at launch. These game developers need to stop following Activision in releasing incomplete games with the "we'll finish it with updates months later" attitude.

I'm still getting bad hitreg with 20ish ping. Sometimes none of my bullets register.. id unload an entire clip at players take no damage at all sometimes

The poor netcode is what killed it for me. I loved playing during preseason, but the enjoyment was slipping even then. Then season 1 dropped and so did my interest when it felt worse to play.

Launching without tdm in your cod competitor was a dumb move

Nero, I come from The Finals and this was a discussion we’ve had to wrestle with at times as well and it’s no different: we have 90% of the playerbase has moved on with a dedicated playerbase now and still zero issues finding matches with any mode, casual or ranked. The game is still fine, fun, and it’s new World Tour mode has no SBMM if that’s your thing. Idk why player count is talked about so much.

Add ffa and make the xp like tdm so if I'm going on a streak it's not for nothing

Being seen through walls all game long and some other abilities killed this one for me. If they had a no abilities playlist or level them out somehow i would come back

The biggest problem imo is that they prioritized content over gameplay fixes. There are problems that were present from the initial launch, that are still present to this day. For me personally that's not that big of an issue, but for the majority of the community it is. They really need to set their priorities straight instead of dropping hot fixes left and right.

I’m still playing the game and I’m going to continue to play the game for the foreseeable future. It needs updates and more maps bad. The connection is SO BAD. The whole time i’m playing I keep feeling like “man i shouldn’t of died there” or “ i should of gotten that kill” because i’m still dying around corners like crazy.

Shooters like xdefiant arent about grinding camos or challenges, its about getting kills and winning. Nero and others have lost perspective on this.

For me, there just wasn't enough content. There were a small amount of guns at launch and most of them were very easy to unlock but at the same time the guns took too long to actually level up. I do really enjoy most of the maps though, I just wish we could get more of them.

The Season 1 patch literally dropped less than a month ago and people are already asking for a new update.... Edit: Somewhere in these replies lurk those who want a significant amount of content every month while simultaneously believing that crunching developers is wrong and that using AI to assist in generating assets is bad. The incessant demand for new content seemingly every 2 weeks that has come as a result of GaaS is how you get shit like AI being used, devs sleeping at their desks and studios focusing on quantity rather than quality. Obviously some people don't care about dev crunch or AI being leveraged and those people are free to demand more all they want. The rest though probably need to reconsider their demands given that the team making this game is a support studio for bullshit like Rocksmith, not a frankenstein of 10,000+ developers working under a behemoth with over a decade of experience with the franchise. That being said, I would rather have 1 good map and 1 new weapon a month than 4 dog shit maps (half of which are usually remakes/themed remakes that we've seen 600 times) and 3 weapons that I will never be allowed to use because the matchmaking gods demand that more blood and sweat be wrung from my body.

Still play everyday for like 3-4 hours. Game is just fun. The lack of challenges is frustration though.

I raved about this game to everyone about how good it was for the first month and a half. It was one of my favourite games in the genre, and was so refreshing. Then they added new factions behind a paywall, and I immediately dropped the game and haven't gone back. Not sure if they're gonna change that or not, but I won't be coming back if I'm not able to use/unlock the new factions without having to pay real money for them.

If this game dies I’m gonna be so sad. The brain rot and lack of attention span has destroyed games as we know them. There’s already so much to do in this game with the master camos, levels, characters, and just getting better with your KD and Win Loss Ratio. People are so impatient. Just enjoy what the game has to offer. Try out different guns and factions.

Personally, I'd be playing more if some updates do come, especially hit detection at close range and something to Phantom oppression

I haven’t been playing as much, but then again, I’m in a 4 month welding program that is teaching us 600 hours of welding in that time period so I don’t have much time outside of welding and homework and self-studying to play games now haha

I've seen a lot of new players while playing this weekend, the game might have trouble keeping players invested over long periods of time but it seems to still be bringing quite a decent amount of new players everyday

I will keep on saying this. Specialists are killing the game. Always hated them. Spamming abilities should never be a thing.

If they had a Hardcore mode playlist then I would definitely come back to Xdefiant. That is the sole reason why I left and would not return.

Thank God you talked about Prestige Mode!!! I am so sick of the Xdefiant community telling COD that they need to have it but then giving Xdefiant a free pass on it

I’ve been in love with this game from the start. (Im lvl 185 for example). But it’s been so disheartening knowing that this game has been slowly losing its player base. I feel like they need to release content more frequently (for example release a new map or game mode every 2 weeks, instead of monthly) and iron out ranked play. (Maybe try placement mathches?) If this game can establish an esports community, this game would really excel. Custom games are def needed. I haven’t been in love with a game like this since Deep Rock Galactic so I really hope this dev team can find their stride and build from it. This is the first ever contestant, as of recent, to contest COD and I sincerely hope they don’t blow it

Don’t people play to win? Do people only grind?

One of my issues is the maps are designed so specifically, that almost every worth while angle is exposed by 2 or 3 other lines of sight. It's done wonders to keep people from camping, the least camping I've seen in any arcade shooter besides halo, but it takes away a small portion of gameplay. There's something I enjoy about getting into a power position that's hard to be killed from, or to take a guy out of one. There are very few spots in the game where you don't need to be aware of 3+angles looking back at you. Also the maps are needlessly cluttered. Lots of small unnecessary rooms and hallways, doorways that don't add to much. Too many routes that don't get used. Overall the core of the maps is good, none of them are downright terrible, but the only one that's a real standout is Attica.

Just get rid of abilities 😢

Its been almost 4 weeks since I've played either of my go-to games XDefiant or Helldivers. My PS5 has been collecting dust since i picked my guitar back up. I still watch gaming vids to see if any radical changes or updates will entice me back to either game, but so far no go.

They still haven’t added voice chat or S&D so why would I download it?

Admittedly, there is something about Palworld that keeps pulling me in, more so than XDefiant and Helldivers 2 does. So, I understand how some people think the game would be dropping off.

This is true for all new fps games anymore. Without dedicated community servers, there's no place for the community to thrive, let alone survive.

If they add some basic features which are present in most of the similar fps shooters like custom rooms many content creators can benefit from this which will boost the viewership and popularity of this game.

Hi Nero! Yeah, I do play XDefiant a lot, but I have noticed matchmaking is starting to get really slow. I have crossplay on and input based matchmaking off, but it takes so fricking long to find a match. Also, as you mentioned, there is nothing really to grind for except weapon levels. Would like to see killcams too to report potential cheaters. More weapon attachments and optics (there is only 1 sight i use, but would like to have more).

The net code and hit detection made me uninstall the game. I don’t have time for Ubisoft’s bs anymore.

As a former CoD player, my buddies and I have LOVED this game, simple, fun, good W Key point shoot experience for us.

I knew that crappy hit reg would eventually kill this game. What do you hear? Skill issue! 😅

I still love it and I’m still having a blast. In 2-3 years I still think I’ll be coming back. Maybe not every day but every week or two for sure.

Game turns into a sweat fest after reaching 26 and can no longer play in the welcome lobby. Snipers shoot you from anywhere in 1 hit and the shotguns are ridiculous. It's definitely unbalanced once you hit 26

I think we need to take a step back and see this game as COD4. It literally was this vanilla back then and not at all what it is today. This game deserves patience and it will get all the improvements COD has had THROUGHOUT YEARS.

It needs more cod related stuff like challenges for callsigns, titles, camos, etc. More guns would be nice but i also think customizable abilities and passives would be nice for our operators

I have been playing this for a while. Pros. 1) Good graphics 2) Good maps 3) Fast gameplay HUGE cons. 1) Too many sweats 2) Sweats appear from anywhere and kill you (makes you wonder if they are hacking} 3) Time to kill is the slowest amongst all PVP games. 4) Guns camo progress is slow 5) Battle pass progress is toooooooooooo slow. 6) Sweats seems to easily ADS and keep on jumping side to side without any trouble (bunny hopping I guess it's called). Each consecutive jump you make has to reduce the jump height each time.

I still play XDefiant every day. I’m just waiting for the patches and updates. I have noticed that I made a lot of friends on the game when and after it first launched. Now those 15 friends don’t play at all. They all quit because of the hit reg, the lack of content, no s&d mode. No one liked the fact of no private matches. The sr in ranked and the bugs and the way ranked is at the moment. No limit on character choices in ranked.

Yes, I am still grinding other favorite weapons for Prisma. ACR is done, AK-47 is being worked on atm.

Hit detection doesn’t work for me and don’t know why. Had a lot fun during the betas but when it drop I just couldn’t take people out. I’m not that bad a player in COD so I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong.

i think the reality of the situation is that it's gonna take a good chunk of time and changes for xdefiant to really find its footing, right now things are kinda slow but i think it's best to have faith in the game's long term success.

On XBox's Web Site of the Top 30 Games Played This Month. XDefiant is ranked 29th!?!? COD was #2 & COD had 3 more OG CODs all ranked higher/has more current players than XDefiant! Yes that's only Xbox numbers for one month but it still kind of crucial! 🤘🏽

I'm still playing it. I uninstalled COD about 2 weeks ago... only played it a couple times since the launch of XDef. I believe they're doing the right things with XDef and, in time, we're going to have a really great gaming experience with it. I'm not having a hard time finding games. I think XDef is like anything else. They have a lot to prove and they are going to need some time to prove it... but ricky tick yo, people are waitin' .

Hardcore mode for ranked would be perfect with a 1 death only mode would be a challenging mode that could prove fun

I honestly think it deserves it. Trying to be a COD killer and brushing off all SBMM is a horrible idea. My first game ever, even though I still found ways to get interested and find ways to enjoy it for a couple weeks. My first game was full of people who had hours and hours, way better and farther along than me. The player base cannot go up because the first game people play, they get destroyed by the nerdiest of people. The game deserves its fall. But it could have been more.

I quit XDefiant & Call of Duty. I turn 28 in a couple days and I'm just at a point in my life where I don't care for these current multiplayer FPS games. I will stick with fighting games & 3rd person games to scratch that competitive ich. 💯👍🏾

I think like you said the game still has a healthy population because even with cross play off it’s still fast to join matches. The only downfall I believe like you said is the lack of updates. There are too many new games coming, released and they just steadily run the race as opposed to go full speed forward on marketing their new additions and teasers as to what’s to come to build hype. I’m super excited for the ranked update because I just can’t pass silver 😭😭😭

I think this was gonna happen tbh. Xdefiant had/still has that "new game feel", but if it's gonna want to take some of the audience away from games like COD it *needs* more content I think. Nothing over the top ofc but like...maybe more than one map a season

TBH they are working on things that should have been included at launch ...killcams have been standard for years.

I still play XDefiant but I'm not as keen as I was initially as there isn't much for me to grind for now outside of camos. Doing the Ubisoft connect challenges also doesn't give you updated rewards that are good like a Vector camo that initially was on offer in the beginning but hasn't refreshed after earning them etc.

Honestly, the game lost me pretty early. Haven't played it in a month. Even from the start it felt like a beta version of Black Ops 4. XDefiant would have been really cool to me if it came out 7 years ago. I feel like the only reason to play it is if you're fed up with cod's engagement based match making system.

New patch should make the shotguns a little more competitive which will be great. No if hit reg was better.

Game died for me when developers refused to fix the emp grenade challenge for some of us while instead worrying about paid for skins.
