Thank you for the firmware! I purchased my ender 3 pro 2 months ago and it came with the 4.2.2 board which they don't seem to directly support. Thanks for making this an easy install!
Great video, but just to note to anyone else new to the hobby NEVER pull or lift the print using the X axis beam like he does when lifting the printer. There is a small chance of something being damaged but more than that its completly throws of the bed levelling you have done. I made this mistake myself and didnt realise after multiple faild prints. If you want to lift the printer lift from the top beam or print a handle mod. To move axis up use settings in the firmware or manually rotate the axis thread.
mines going back, its a waste of space! cant get the firmware working with my 4.2.7 board. some firmware versions wont function screen at all, some screen works but locks up. poor product in my opinion!
by far the easiest to follow instruction on setting up the touch screen and blt, with links to Bin files that work with no VS editors or ardunio programs al talking to quick and jumping steps, bloody magic
thank u so much i gave up on 3d printing because i got the touch screen and i could not get it to work but now that i watch your video and it helped me out a bunch
For me ! It also not working properly with the 4.2.2 board. I only can adjust Temp and move around! Can't set E-steps or turn of fan. Do you have a link to right software for us. A lot of readers, followers have this screen now and there are many different question about it. 🤔
Just purchased an Ender 3 v2 (should be arriving tomorrow) all the reviews I have seen said one downside was the factory screen. Then this popped up and I thought it was too good to be true lol. Thanks for the video!
Great timing!! Sooner or later they will come out with another flash for this one which will open up the tuning a bit more but well worth the money if you are looking for a premium UI ! Let me know how you get on :)
According to Comgrow and several other companies. there is no combination yet for the Neo 3 and a touch screen I was advised to keep an eye on the Crealitry site for upgraded software.
I just bought a 4.2.7 board, bl touch, and the screen, I can get the 4.2.7+BLtouch firmware to work on the old screen, but as soon as I try to install the firmware for the touch screen and install it, the screen just gets stuck on loading
Great video. I just bought the 4.2.7 board, this touch panel and the CR touch. I'm assuming I need to use the Touch Screen firmware that INCLUDES the BL touch??
I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong here, but the screen won't load up the firmware, did i skip a step? Screen is connected Verified i have a 4.2.2 mainboard put the right .bin files onto the micro sd card and plugged it in while it was powered off, powered it on and it doesn't load anything.
I have this combo and tried the recommended .bin files. It almost works. The touch screen loads, and then about 10 seconds later it reboots and then just keeps repeating that pattern. Loading and then rebooting after 10-15 seconds. Any recommendations?
Bit of a weird one but just installed screen and firmware, now my part cooling fan is not spinning and my motherboard fan speed is controlled by adjusting cooling fan in octoprint. Is there something a miss with this firmware? 4.2.7 MB and creality touchscreen
I'm looking for some advice, I put this screen on my ender 3 pro. I am running it and a cr touch, and want to put a sprite hot end on it. I know you need to modify some code in the firmware, but I can I use the firmware you suggest to do that?
Great video, thanks for sharing. I bought a combo touch screen and a motherboard 4.2.7. However I didn't find an option to step calculation or any rapid values to change. I've looking for a firmware to fix it, but I wasn't successful to find it. Now, I have a motherboard 4.2.7 and a touch screen, but i can't configurate it or change step motors. Do you know hot to do it?
I would add a raspberry pi or use pronterface in order to get that calibration. There isn't and I doubt there would be a community firmware for this one.
Damn!!I formatted a new card using the SD Card formatter, I downloaded the 4.2.2 bin file to that card and switched on the machine and it will not work. What am I doing wrong?
The bad news is that the development with this was stopped and you have what you have now. Personally I would send it back and think about the sonic pad
good job, but i wold like to know the modification in configuration.h for setting this tft, i have necessity for additional modification whitch have in my configuration.h, thanks, or if exist source on github 🙏
Hello, thank you very much for sharing the video that was very useful to me... but do you know how I could solve the problem that arose after replacing the display? It no longer reads the files to print, I click on "print" and the screen does not show me any files to print. I hope you will be able to help me. Thank you.
I’d make sure that you have formatted the sd card and use a small gb card. I’ve seen in the last that there have been some issues with the screens and in most cases the firmware upgrade might help. That’ll be on Creailty’s github
I know it has been a while ago but I couldn't get the e steps set with any firmware. Ender 3 pro with sprite hot end and 4.2.2 board. Have tried a few different firmwares and in the end went back to original screen with thi3d firmware. Any help appreciated as I liked the rest of the screen. Thanks
I have a silly question. I have the ender 3 neo with the 32bit 4.2.2 motherboard. Is this screen compatible? I really wanna upgrade that knob blue screen
Thanks but I must be doing something wrong. I have a Ender 3 Neo with the 4.2.2 Mb , purchased the new touch screen from Amazon and followed the instructions. The bin file never loaded? Had the original sd card formatted to Fat 32, allocated 4096 and I ended up placing the original controller back on the unit and returning the touch screen. Any thoughts as to what went wrong? The folks at 3dJake say it wont work and I'm waiting to hear back from the people at Comgrow
Evening, I installed my touch screen this morning and when I went to turn on my printer I heard a light spark noise and now my screen won’t turn however my ender 3 pro still turns on just like normal, interestingly enough my old screen won’t turn on either so if you could suggest what’s wrong with my printer then that would be fantastic
Sounds like the board has fried. Check the motherboard and see if you can see anything that might have popped. Did you plug it into the right connection?
I'm having an issue where the load screen gets stuck. The bar at the bottom finishes loading and I hear a beep but it never moves to the main page. Not sure if the firmware was install incorrectly. Any way to restart that bit?
the moment i plug in the cable in the new screen it beeps! like crazy, wont stop, and it wont take the flash.. tested several firmwares.. what to do??? 4.2.7 card in a ideaformer.. with the new Z sensor.
I just installed the hardware, I've got a 4.2.7 board with a bltouch, before I installed the new screen, the bl touch worked perfectly for dozens of prints. After I installed the screen and flashed the firmware that you provided, the z axis won't go down anymore, and when I try to Auto-level it just gets stuck and I can't go back without turning it off. I can't even manually make the z axis go down in the axis movement screen. Any ideas on what this is happening?
@@nana-yt4495 I've had this issue also. I have a BLTouch with split leads (3 screen + 2 z-axis) with adaptor on the display connector (Board 4.2.7). I had to remove the adaptor, switched the blue and red wire and put them in the connector underneath de screenconnector. Blue at the bottom. Then put the z-axis connector(black-white leads) from the BLtouch in the same connector as the three wires plug. White lead up. Now everything should work except moving the z-axis below 0 in the move axis menu. You can 'calibrate' the distance head to bed while printing a test object, using the setup(in the printing screen) and then changing the z-axis. This value will be stored. For correct wiring see: howchoo.com/ender3/install-bltouch-ender-3-v2-pro
I could really use your help. Trying to help my frustrated 12 year old son with his 3D printer. Creality Ender 3 pro. 4.2.2. He added this touchscreen and has a CR touch. Touchscreen does not work properly (hitting ready button freezes the screen and there are white boxes over the top of the version information). We have flashed the firmware to the motherboard (renaming the .bin file each time) but I don't think its taking. We also flashed the touchscreen itself with the DWIN_SET file but it acts the same. Many tears here from him and I'm trying to be the Dad that rescues the situation. Any help would be great!
Thankyou for such a great video. I managed to get my new screen working with my new sprite pro direct drive and bl touch I was wondering how I can go about adding the filament run out sensor I also have. Do I need to add a firmware for this??? If I add it Nd put filament firmware will it still allow me to use my touch screen also
I had bought one of these LCD screens from Amazon and it had F1rst Layer firmware on the LCD screen. I wanna convert back to normal Creality firmware. Would i just download the DWIN_SET file on a SD card and load that onto the LCD screen. Would that convert it back to the original Creality firmware?
So I have an Ender 3 E. I think the only differences from the original are auto bed leveling and a sensor for when filament runs out. I put firmware on the touchscreen but it wont let me auto level the bed. Can anyone help me get the correct firmware?
I put this bad boy on and decided to test if my e-steps were accurate and they aren’t…. Problem is I cannot for the life of me figure out where to calibrate it now!! Help?!
Good afternoon, I have followed all the step in the video but when I insert my SD card with my files I want to print do not show up on the new screen. Do you happen to have any advice or a fix for this?
@@TheRealSamPrentice Thanks but that is showing me how to have the image of the print file show up. My issue is that the new touch screen is not allowing me to print because nothing shows up when I go into file selection.
@@TheRealSamPrentice Nope i have used 2 different 8GB SD cards and did a fresh format on both. None of the prints that I slice in cura show on the touch screen.
@@TheRealSamPrentice yeah but now i keep getting wrinkles in layers other than the first (which is perfect) even though I’ve calibrated everything and my bed is very level. Wasted 2 days and half a roll of filament so far! Can’t find anything that tells me how to fix it 😥
I am having an issue with the touchscreen since flashing firmware directly to it. sometimes it loads and the print and ready buttons don't function and sometimes it stays on the creality load screen. please help.
Aloha .. .. .. Your instructional video was very helpful. I have an Ender 3 with a v4.2.2 MotheBoard. I follow your instructions and got to print without any problems. But I like to upgrade the 4.3 touch screen it self. Can you make a instructional video on how to upgrade the Creality 4.3 touch screen .. .. .. thanks
I've added the touch screen and the new firmware, but, I cannot load any STL files or gcode files to print from that screen. I've also lost my z-offset and baby stepping. The firmware is old very very old. Do you have a way to enable the touch screen on the Marlin FW 2.9? Or at least how do I print any of my models?
Do you have a firmware for Ender 3 Max with 4.2.7 board, BLTouch, Creality touch screen (the one on your video, that also has UBL, Classic Jerk and Linear advance enabled? or can I use the DWIN_SET from your binary file to compile a Marlin 2.1.0 with this options?
My touch screen came with a firmware from github and I want to flash the creality firmware to it but I don't see an option if it already has a firmware
I installed mine tonight, installed the touchscreen firmware as described and its sort of working....as in it will heat the bed, the nozzle, I can move the axis about...BUT it won't read any of my gcode files....each screen where files should be listed is empty...any ideas? :(
@@TheRealSamPrentice Hey, thanks so much for getting back to me. Went and tried your suggestion but they still don't show up. Every one of the 5 file screens is empty :(
@@TheRealSamPrentice I've actually just done that before reading your reply lol - and still nothing. I'm at a totally loss ...its so weird. Might just send the screen back and give up
Добрый день. А есть ли возможность сделать вот такую же точно прошивку Ender - Touch Screen - HW - 4.2.7 - BLTouch.bin только с включенным Linear Advanced? Очень нужно. Спасибо.
please help, I have the v2 and put on the direct drive extruder and BL touch, added the touch screen and won't load firmware. screen just freezes thoughts?thanks
okay so going into 2024 just got an ender 3 v1 since its cheap enough for me to get started on for now and ive seen so so many different screens for this model... fully touch screen and knob versions and i really dont know which one too get
So I just installed this on my ender 3 max I’m 99%sure I have the right firmware installed. But for some reason on the display in the about section it has my build volume wrong and smaller than it should be
It’s not supported on the max without firmware changes, if you connect to it via your computer you might be able to change the size in gcode id have to check
@@TheRealSamPrentice thank you for the quick response and great work on your video. its the new creality sprite extruder pro kit basically its the ender 3 pro s1 , im upgrading from a ender 3 pro 1.4.4 , i purchased the new motherboard 4.2.7 the cr touch, and the lcd screen the one you installed in the video. And the one vender that i purchased the creality board says that the creality sprite extruder pro doesn’t work with the lcd screen. I just saw mars qizmo and the ender 3 pro s1 and it has the extruder pro kit cr touch and a lcd screen. I was hoping you can guide me in this install. I basically rebuilt my printer.
hello, great video, very helpful! i'm installed this one to my ender-3, the best firmware that get closer to work its this from 3djake, but don't read the sd card, have some idea ?
I installed this same touch screen on my Ender 3 Pro 4.2.2 with creality's software download for this screen, and now my it will not read my SD cards. Does not show any files on any SD card. I tried reuploading the firmware. dos any one else know a fix for this?
Can anyone help so I bought and Ender 3 pro that have never been turned on but it didn’t come with the lcd controler so I bought the touch screen upgrade and when I turn the printer on with the correct firmware on the sd card it the bar won’t load load any suggestions appreciated chears
I tried going on the website for the .bin files because i also need them and the DWIN_SET files for a Ender 3, it says that sight is no longer active, do you have another link?
Sorry just found it on the 3Djack website. There's another problem im having, I flashed the creality firmware on the LCD screen but i tried putting the .bin file on and its just stuck on the Creality screen with the loading bar, waited 5 minutes and still nothing. Have any recommendations?
Hey! thank you for the reply, yes ive been putting the SD card into the motherboard for the .bin files and for the DWIN_SET into the LCD Screen. Ive tried several different files and nothing will bite. Ive even bought 8gb, 1gb, and 4gb SD cards with FAT32 and 4096 bytes@@TheRealSamPrentice
I bought this over a year ago and thought it would be a great upgrade to my Ender 3. NOT!! The original screen was way better as this new screen has only the basic settings on it. Had I known this before, I would not have purchased it. Stick with your original screen as it has way more settings and options.
@@TheRealSamPrentice Thanks. I search all over and you found it. Unfortunately, I already returned the Touch- screen back to Amazon and maybe get upgraded screen with a knob Is there a difference between the two? Thanks for the quick response.
Hi Sam, So i installed my new touch screen and now when i put my sd card with print files on it they do not show in the print section. Do you or anyone have any idea what to do to fix this? Thanks in advance!
@@TheRealSamPrentice So i did that last night and then went thur and re loaded it. no dice. so i just went thru and re did everything " new flash, re flash again with touch & bl lvl. Re formated the card to GTP. then reformatted it again to an MBR and we have touchdown. It works, I am guessing the first download had a bug in it or something. I am gonna try to figure out why but its working. Joys of being a techy lol
First off, thanks for such easy to follow instructions. Very clear and simple! I am, however, having an issue with the cura-sliced gcode files not showing on my ender 3 pro after following all the steps. I have reformatted the 8gb card, re-sliced files, converted sd card to gpt, then to mbr. I have shortened file names and removed special characters. I have reflashed the firmware (which I'm beginning to think is buggy and the root cause of my problems) and I also tried pleading with the printer's better nature.. Still no luck. All that said, I discovered (in a frenetic display of frustration) that quickly ejecting and re-inserting the sd card while in the printer causes the files to occasionally appear in that moment. But selecting and using the files is still not possible. All I wonder is whether I am right in assuming the firmware is problematic, or is the card reader in the printer the problem? (side note: files are easily found and read in removable disk when plugged into pc) I have little to no idea what I'm doing when it comes to this stuff but I've tried every suggestion out there. Any help would be so greatly appreciated! Thanks Sam
This might sound stupid and this might not work at all, but sometimes when I'm on the print screen and its blank, I just push the SD card so it clicks out, then click it back in, then click it out, then click it in, until it eventually shows up. Sounds like you have a different problem than me, but just thought I'd share just in case. lol
@@TheRealSamPrentice What about the Ender 3 V2 LCD display? Would it be possible to re-purpose it using an Arduino or other microcontroller? What protocol does it use?
@@jonny11bonk Again it requires the code to be released, we looked at this with the firmware guys who did the cr6 mod, but drew blanks as the software is not out.
Thanks for the Video, I just got into 3D printing so I'm still a bit of an amateur, I have an ender 3 Pro and I downloaded the 4.2.2 Firmware to flash my screen and it seem to have loaded, shut it off and turned it back on without the SD card and it'll load after that but then the screen says as it, still the creality logo and the loading bar. Any suggestions?
Got the screen working but when I plug in a SD to print it’s not seeing the files. Anyone else having this issue? I’m using the 4.2.2 board and have tried 3 different cards.
I ended up upgrading the board to the 4.2.7 but I did find that sometimes it would pick up the card with the 4.2.2 if I put the card in well the printer was on then power cycled the printer. But it was hit or miss. Also making sure the files have less then 8 characters in there names seems to help.
Really great video, I am having problems however. I was able to get the firmware to work on my Ender 3 with 4.2.7 board but my bed dimensions are now 220x220 when they should be 235x235, additionally I have a direct drive extruder and the X and Y extruder offsets have to be changed to account for the change in shape. I was wondering if perhaps you have posted the uncompiled marlin firmware somewhere or if you had a guide for enabling the touch screen in marlin firmware.
Otherwise check the creality site there will be a uncompiled version or check out the cheetah firmware online it’s a great guide to set your own settings
@@tompurvis5998 unfortunately no, it came down to either removing the touchscreen or printing with incorrect bed dimensions and extruder offsets so I chose to remove the touchscreen. I tried enabling the touchscreen in the firmware myself but kept getting weird error messages. I'm no computer scientist so the code was a bit over my head. Weirdly enough I think there's other touchscreens out there that are easier to configure manually than the creality brand one so maybe in the future I'll try that. If you figure anything out let me know because I'd love to have both my touchscreen and bed dimensions working properly.
I reached out to creality as I think it should work and they never came back to me. This is just a display so I don't see why not as its not that special.
@@TheRealSamPrentice I sent them a message and they said neither are compatible but I got the motherboard firmware from Creality But when I looked for firmware for display it says there is no firmware for the Max yet!
@@geoffpeacock514 Mmm they never came back, best thing is maybe buy one on amazon and ship it back if it doesn't work ;) I would do this but I don't have the MAX :D
