Man, I can't Thank you enough, I've been down for a week now trying the cut paper towel trick and soaking it for hours, and I wasn't getting a single drop of ink! I tried printing 8 full sheets of solid black and not a single drop. I only had to soak my head for 2 hours, pumped the 50/50 mix through at the end of both hours. I almost cried after I put it back together and the first rectangle was solid black and dripping off the film. Over time, I had to Raise my droplet weight to 15 in AccuRIP to get a solid print. I had to dial it back down to an 8! Thank you so much. This thing had me stressing for a long time, had me feeling defeated, but I won today! 🏆

Just a true "Shout Out" to you Mikey. This video saved my Epson 1430 printer. I have absolutely NO knowledge about what you just did in this video. But I followed your concise directions. Lo and behold, I completed each step from disassembly to re-assembly and everything worked perfectly. I purchase this printer off Ebay and was a bit worried about its condition. The description said, "Very Good Condition". Nevertheless, I was still concerned. The printer had cartridges in place that had been there for several years. Everything is working and I owe it to your great video. As a result you have a new subscriber. Thank you and Thank the Lord for giving me His patience. I have the same CISS and will be purchasing the waste tank as well.

To easily remove the CSIS board 2:41 you bend up a special tool from a document clip in a fashion so there is a PIN that can go through a hole in the BACK of the housing to release the CSIS board clip. Using this tool it it easy peasy lemon squeezy to release the CSIS board. Look for a Epson service manual online like I did and there are clear directions in how to make the tool and this is done - instead of hacking away with a screwdriver.

My printer had a weird problem where every other print would be liney every single time, you could count on it being liney. I had to keep a scrap film and print 1" rectangles in between every real print until the film was full. Then start a new one.I thought something was wrong with a chip or the counter or something, but this video absolutely cured the problem, so if anyone else has this problem, take the head out and clean it! I can finally print back to back again! It's been like this for about 2 freaking years! I can't believe it! So what I am guessing is going on, is half of my ink colors were clogged, and the printer alternates ink cartridges so that that you can go longer without a refill. That is just my guess, but holy crap, thank you again!

This worked! Mine has been clogged for over a year. I soaked the head in an off brand window cleaner, dipping it in and out several times while also changing the window cleaner once it got too dirty. After 15 minutes I flushed each color with a syringe until I could see the window cleaner going all the way through for each nozzle without any ink. I dried it under a fan for about 10 minutes and put everything back together with fresh cartridges. I only broke a couple of plastic pieces in the process but they didn't seem that important, and it will be easier to clean in the future.

I've gone through all the methods without removing the heads without success so I'll be following your instructions as I bought a CISS for it just before it clogged ARRRGGG. Considered buying a new one only to discover Epson has discontinued it so I looked online for anyone still having new ones in stock or even a good condition used only to discover people are now asking TWICE the price I paid for my original one new .... goddamn profiteers. @@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 well the print-head had been soaking for about 12 hrs now and when I tried to send cleaning solution through the individual color nozzles with syringe and none of the solution made it through! just bled around the edge of the rubber hose at the tip of the syringe 😕, so I flipped the print-head over for the nozzles to sit in the solution bath for a while. A couple hours later I was able to get one color nozzle to run through like in your video .... well it's a start! After that I gave all the nozzles a shot with the syringe and placed the head back in the bath head down to let it soak some more. I've seen on a few other sites talk of using an ultrasonic cleaner to clean extremely stubborn heads and have found I can get a small well rated one big enough to fit the print-head for about $50 CAD. Considering the prices pirates are asking even for spare part 1430s I'm thinking it's worth a shot, I can always use the thing for other stuff. I'm guessing my print-head is in the 'really stubborn' category because I'm moved last summer just after it started giving me these issues and unfortunately didn't have a chance to unpack it again until now. What do you think? Even the cleaner descriptions mention using it for cleaning inkjet print-heads so I don't think it can break it.
@georgeorwell5842
@georgeorwell5842 4 года назад
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 finally received my ultrasonic cleaner today, left the 1430 head in it for 15 minutes and while I found very little ink discoloration of the cleaning solution when I try and run solution through the nozzles/head with a syringe all six nozzles now flow freely as in your video. Word to the wise though, the cleaner is EXTREMELY loud! (probably because I ended up buying a somewhat bigger one since I have other things to clean) Hopefully once I get the print-head reinstalled my Artisan is back to normal.

I want to also give out a hint that is keeping mine alive right now, if you have a broken pump/cap/wiper assembly problem that is causing the print head to LOCK in place and make an awful gear grinding noise. If you take the back cover off (there is a waste ink install tutorial that shows you how to take this off) if you look in the printer head side from the back, there is a White Lever connected to a gear box. You can push that white lever down at just the right time and the printer will finish cleaning. You can almost feel the gears slipping inside where it trys to go down but doesn't quite make it all the way down, so I just keep my finger rested on it, when I feel it going down and jerking, I push and hold it down, it's like an assist, sometimes I only have to assist it 1 time during the process, sometimes it two times, and sometimes it still gets confused and the lights come on, but just re start the printer and try again. I decided to try this after I was left with no other options and it worked, I also had to take the rubber wiper out because it was hitting the head with every pass. With that said, I need a new pump cap assembly, but I can not find a single tutorial on how to install it, so I'm just going to have to figure it out myself. I found a tear down video online that gave me some confidence. But it doesn't look as easy as this tutorial was.

@Mikey Designs & Silk Screen I did break one of the small plastic retainers on top for the clip, don't think it'll matter. The catch for the clip is underneath and, far as I can tell, inaccessible so as you demonstrate one pries and hopes. -- I've now reinstalled everything (and print went from unreadable to sharp & clear 👍🏻) and see there are some openings above where the right side door clip catch attaches - perhaps a stiff wire or some such could be used to dislodge on disassembly by pushing down. Also, used a squeeze bottle to push rubbing alcohol through the nozzles & while I couldn't get it to sorta squirt through like you did, mine was more a slow drip, it ran clear it was clean - I'd wondered about that.

I had an extremely old and extremely bad clog on my black nozzle . i followed the video and it came out great! but it took 2 days!!!! every few hours i'd go press through a syringe, more cleaner through the black nozzle. now it prints great! i notice alot of people complaining that their printer no longer functions after doing this. did you get the chip/board wet? i noticed that if i put the print head in a pan of solution of the wrong depth. i got my board wet!!!! so what did i do? i reduced the solution level. and i waited another 2 days after cleaning, to put the print head back into operation, giving the board ample time to dry out. its summer here so 2 days was enough. cold or humid environments might want to let board dry longer if you get it wet.

It worked for me chewing up and breaking a bit of the plastic in the process but does not affect the printing. I used alcohol and windex for the soak and 99% rubbing alcohol for flushing the heads. Its not perfectly unclogged but might give it another go once things slow down here more at work.

Thank you! Try hitting the reset button, or pulling the cartridges and reinstalling. Were you using genuine Epson inks before? Something I should have mentioned in this video is, if your printer has the most up to date firmware, Epson basically made it impossible to work with other there printers. However, you can pull the chip off of the genuine cartridge and the CISS kit, and replace them with the epson chips. Just glue it on. You'll need an Epson chip resetter for when the printer thinks the cartridge is out of ink. Inexpensive and just an extra step, but will work. We've done this with our Epson 4800 and works great.

Yes the plastic is really cheap, be careful when using a screwdriver. Otherwise the instructions are well made. Thanks for that video.
