NOBODY on the whole dam internet ever bothered to explain how air relates to the gas cap except you. 😂That was exactly the piece of information I needed to solve my Corolla engine light problem.
Wish I'd have seen this yesterday. Changed the fuel pump. Changed the MAF. Changed the valve cover. On daughter in laws 2016 chevy trax. Went to the back of the vehicle and heard a gurgling sound. Stuffed a paper towel in it and the engine lined right out. Thanks for your help sir

Willing my hero. Our town and country was throwing EGR codes, then GASCAP... I was about to venture down the path of the EGR system then I found you. Same vacuum when taking the cap off, new cap and no more codes. Thank you sir! 73 and God bless

Ty so much willy!!! Just bought a used 2011 Santa Fe. I love it. It's the 3rd vehicle I have purchased in 20 years from the same man, but I was starting to worry when check engine light came on about a week into having the car. Found out it was gas cap. Well I cleared the light out cap on but every time I get gas (3 times so far) I manage to make check engine light come on. Well. System didn't clear this last time so your video solidified my decision to start by buying new gas cap 1st then see if it still happens.

gg...ex wife called said her corolla is having problem starting..wont start sometimes....she took it to oreily's and it gave gas cap code..your explaination pretty much sums it it up..if fuel wont work it.s not going to start..makes sense....much respect and big thanks.

My engine light has been coming on and the error mentions a fuel valve. I’m hoping it’s just this so will try this first. My car is performing ok no issues with it at all. Great video though even if it’s not the cap I need to replace. 😊
Can a bad gas cap cause jerking and bucking? I plan on getting my coils and spark plugs replaced to help out, but wanted to see if this may be causing it.
Very informative. My check engine light came on today and so far everything seems to point the gas cap. Mine makes that noise sometimes but not all the time. So I’m guessing that means my gas cap is still faulty and it is finally triggering the check engine light? I have a locking gas cap I’m going to take it off tomorrow and put the stock one back on and see what happens. do I have to take off the negative terminal and reset the check engine light or will it go off automatically once I change gas caps? Common problem in saturn vue but it will keep doing it even after changing caps over and over,the only info i could find to fix it is a locking gas cap

My gas cap stopped clicking about 2 months ago, didn't think much of it, it still felt like it tightened. Then a couple weeks later, my check engine light turned still on. So I bought a new gas cap, the NEW gas cap didn't click either. I tightened it as much as I could and went on my way. I don't notice any performance changes at all but my check engine light is still on. Any advice?
My check engine light code said gas cap. Been on twice now, today I replaced the gas cap right after they cleared the code. Hopefully that fixed the problem. However I just had a fuel pump replaced two weeks ago. Since then has this problem started. Hopefully it was just the gas cap. Fingers crossed.thank you Sir fir the info.
I have the same problem but the only thing is, even when I changed the gas cap. The check engine light was still on and I was sure to tighten it correctly. I took it a few mechanics and they would say it's the gas cap but weren't much help because the light will still show
Wuddup Willie. I have a 2005 toyota camry. My service engine light now remains on. Everytime I pull the fuel door release switch to open the fuel door the gas cap is loose. I turn it until it clicks several times and close the fuel door but when I pull the switch again right away and check the cap it be loose. Do you know if when the switch is pulled to open the fuel door does that automatically loosen the cap for convenience or could my gas cap be malfunctioning?
Very informative video, thank you ! My check engine light came on with my 2006 Toyota Tundra truck. I do believe it is the gas cap but the code says PO333 which is supposedly the Knock Sensor 2. Circuit High Input (Bank 2) issue(s). Is it possible the loose gas cap could cause this particular code reading instead of the “loose cap “ code of another number ? I will buy a new cap today but I would please like to know the answer as you are a very knowledgeable mechanic ! Thank you
I owned a Lexus ES350 and had to change the knock sensors on it. On that engine it was best to replace both knock sensors and a knock sensor harness at the same time so that I would not have to go back in and repair second time. Toyota make good vehicles, that car had 230,000 miles and it ran smoother than any other vehicle i ever owned.
yup just happened again but this time i had to really spray cleaner and wipe it off to get the C E light to clear dosent happen often car is 12 years old 123900 miles on it

My exhaust keeps popping every time I get gas. It will move back and forth and pop out the exhaust and have a gas smell. I've changed the coils, plugs, vap canister, mafs.. now I'm wondering is it just the gas cap before I spend more money.
Would suck to spend that $$ for it onky to be a gas cap! Luckily the code registered my cap and it’s not clicking anymore. Hopefully this solves my problem too!
Willy my car sounded strange today Later I was just going to take my trash to the dumpster Strange sound under the hood and then about 3 minutes the check engine light came on. I will check tomorrow to see if it’s my gas cap.
My check engine light has been a pain for months paired with a “tighten gas cap” message. Jiffy told me a new gas cap should clear the engine message too after runnng a quick diagnostic for free after changing my oil. About to throw my new $18 cap on and see what happens!
@@Zach-nv4ul it cleared the engine light after replacing the gas cap! Big relief 😅 . I did have to drive around for a bit for it to reset and clear the messages though, within a day it was all clear.

I changed my gas cap in my 2006 Ford expedition and had engine light removed from a mechanic friend, but my light came back on after a week. I noticed it came back on when we had rain and winds. I'm not sure if that's a coincidence or not. But Could it be a leak somewhere else?
What about for those with a Ford that has a capless tank. Mine just opens up from the door and there is no cap its sealed until you insert the gas nozzle from gas station. But there is definitely a problem that is happening in this area.
Can that cause also a fuel smell inside the car? I have a 2011 malibu and about two weeks ago it started smelling fuel from the vents but also even if the car is parked, smell on the outside….. common issue would be a vacuum line or injectors, but being parked I don’t think that would be the problem and also is consumes more fuel than usual, and a massage just popped out in my dash “check gas cap”….. thanx in advance

I have the problem. I got a new gas cap today. Auto checked it with the code. He said it will take a while for it to go off and it does happen immediately.
I have a 2000 sl600 and this year I've had to replace my gas cap 4 times - everytime I filled the gas tank the engine light would come on and i would have to replace the cap. Any thoughts?
