one of the hardest questions asked by my addiction therapist was how much do you drink a day, how many glasses of alcohol did you drink....I couldn't answer that because I used bottles to drink out. Thank God I don't drink alcohol any more !

455 days now since detox and all that time no alcohol. but i still think life is crap. so don't expect miracles if u stop being an alcoholic.

After drinking for over 50 years. I always exceeded what I promised. 70 days clean & sober so far. The only choice I have is the first drink or substance, after that it’s the drug talking. Some might be able to drink a little - I’m not one of those. It only took a half century to figure it out.

I still feel my husband is an alcoholic even though he doesn’t drink as soon as he wakes up It starts about 3 x 4 hours later & doesn’t stop until he passes out Drinks 1/3 of a big bottle of Jack a day with shots of fireball on the side Also is VERY verbally abusive & mean

I'm not a therapist, but I'm going to say yes. And you should leave that man.

Mine is the same. He doesn’t drink in the morning, to my knowledge. He is also quite mean and is very emotionally fragile. He is quite functional at work, but not at home. He can’t be relied on bc he always “feels bad” or is “tired.” He can’t watch the kids much more than 2 hours. Recently he had withdrawal seizures. You can still be quite deep in the drink without “drinking first thing in the morning.” Alcoholics also will BLAME you for practically EvErYtHiNg. I’m only sharing because I have felt seen and validated bc when I hear other people’s stories and realizing how similar their story is to mine. It can be so lonely because when you are living in the home with an alcoholic, you are the only one who sees all the 💩, they behave for the rest of the world and take it all out on you. Good luck with yours 🧡

I totally understand you! My husband doesnt drink in the morning either, but starts with beer around 11 or noon. Does not eat any food. Only chips, sugar then more beer, wine with dinner. Hard stuff hides. Goes through 2 bottles every 3-5 days plus beer n wine. He is avoidant, angry and everyone thinks he is great! They dont know what its like at my home. He had a successful career too! r@Fiery154

Hi ,, here in the UK problem drinking ,stage 3 , is typically associated with beer drinking,, returning home a handful ,, alcoholism, stage 4 , would be the shift to stronger stuff , spirits typically . The problem used to be that the general public thought an alcoholic looked like a problem drinker . Problem drinkers sober up , alcoholics top up ,straight back to drunk and the consequences this brings with it soon appear .

Have floated in atage 2 for about a decade. My drinking is contained. I dont start till all my obligations are done and then i drink alone in my room. Nothing problematic ever happens because i dont drink until i have no plans of interactinf with anyone for the remainder of the day

Sounds like a justification to me. No offense but if your goal is to drink alone in your room, then that’s a problem. I’m honestly not trying to be rude, but I think you need to sit with that for a bit.

@@brennamcdowell I mean health is irrelevant to me; and that's the only downside to how I drink. I've wanted to be gone since I was 12 years old, a whole 15 years before I ever started drinking. If drinking speeds up the process, I see that as a positive, but it's still in competition with Florida traffic (I live in pinellas county which has the highest death rate per capita for cyclists and that's my main mode of transportation, been hit 8 times, not sure how I'm still here right now, lol). Then we have my rotted tooth that my uninsured ass will probably never have removed. That can go up to the brain and off me that way. If I were a betting man, I'd say that bike or the tooth is gonna get me before my liver ever does. Between all 3 though, it's pretty much guaranteed I don't make it to 50, and I'm okay with that.

I dont believe that everyone moves on to stage 4 ...I was stuck on stage 3 for 35 plus years that was bad enough yet i always had 3 or 4 days off in the week , took me day or two to recover normally..

He stopped for a week and a half. And said he started again because he couldn't sleep.

even if that is the reason, not being able to sleep without it is a sign of addiction

why does it gotta be all or nothing? much more realistic to manage amounts and be realistic than live a life completely free without alcohol? many find success with things life Sinclair method
