I’ve been following you for 9 years now, which makes one third of my life on earth. I haven’t missed a single video, I rewatch older videos regularly (and I don’t skip ads haha). Your content never fail to bring joy and comfort, I love that you stay away from any RU-vid drama and politics, thank you for everything you are doing for people like me, sending huge thanks to you - Laura & Aaron - as well as Susan, Monica, Ken, Paul and Bethany and of course Benjamin and Samantha Grace who are so cute and the highlight of every video. You guys feel like a family to me. Bret from 🇮🇪
I’m with you on that one man. I haven’t missed a video in years, and I objectively feel as if this is one of the best channels on RU-vid. The content is both positive and informative, and this community is beyond supportive.
You do such a good job incorporating your sponsor material into your videos that is feels sincere and not like an in your face commercial. There are some channels that I used to follow that I have quit following because they are so annoying and insincere and don't even begin to ring true to the channel content. I'm glad yours blend right in with your regular content so you barely notice that they are a "commercial".
I don’t think I would worry about Facebook so much. Those of us that follow your videos know exactly how to find you and will be loyal because your videos are way better than most. Heck... yours are the only one I like & follow😮. So just keep on doing what you do best and we’ll keep coming back for more.😅 Love your channel ❤🌸🌲
I use the fabric hose outside, Zone 6. It does hold up for a year at least if you don’t keep stretching it beyond its length, and you don’t let your husband use it. 😎
I love my fabric hose. Mine is outside. I've been there for a year. I do live in Santa Barbara so I'm milder climate but my favorite hose that I've ever had and I've had a lot
I also use a fabric hose outside, zone 6B. I bring it inside my garage or shed in the winter but otherwise it is stored outside throughout the season. I've had mine for over a year. I don't have gravel though, but I do have concrete sidewalks and driveways that I pull it across. I love it!
The tag has great information. But Laura always gets into the details about cutting them back. I would have never known if it was not for her telling us. I always think oh so drastic. But she makes it seem like its a great thing for the plant. You do not get that information from a tag! Yes I agree about his idea lol :)
You two are in such sync with each other. That is a true marriage. It is incredibly difficult to work, play, and live together, but you make it work. ❤ When Aaron said "but now you have 5 other fabrics to use" instead of being negative and you Laura said "you get me" I just melted! 😅 love you guys!!!❤❤❤
"Keep an open mind because you have things to learn." - Laura from Garden Answer. Couldn't have been said better by the online psychologists and pundits. Another great insight from a video was Laura's mom (I know she has a name but I consider her "mom") -- "romance the ordinary." I tend to get a negative and critical attitude from media, but it really is important to consider the value of positivity and beauty in daily life. Thank you, GA, for your life lessons. 😊
Yeah, when he's talking about the Sponsors etc and she's saying 'uh huh, uh huh' after each of his statements like she's ready for the next question 😻😻😉.
I love hearing about the short dating and engagement stories! My hubs and I started dating March 9th and engaged March 25th and married on September 18th. We’ve been married for 30 years now…WHEN YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW! Love your channel!
If you watch a bunch of videos that have a different theme (i.e. skydiving), RU-vid will start the feed off with skydiving next time you open it. If you watch a bunch of garden answer videos and nothing else, it should always give you garden answer when you open up RU-vid. At least that's how it works for me.
The water from your dehumidifier would be great to water your plants from overhead since it's soft water! No hard water marks or build up on plants etc. :)
I water my flowers too with the water from the dehumidifier. I read not to put it on veg/fruit types of plants because of any bacterium(s) that might be in it from the air. With the drought that is eating it's way east, my flowers loved any extra water I could give them.
I have to confirm your sponsor content is not annoying. I’ve been annoyed with ads and sponsored content on other channels, but not yours. So great job with all your meticulous thought and planning Aaron!! Job well done.
SO glad to hear about Benjamin and school! Was really wanting to ask but … privacy. I just wanted to know if he liked it or groaned each and every morning. That’s great! I have always pictured him as going to be a pro at the school stuff!
Love watching you every morning! My husband and I are in the process of building our new garden space on our property. We recently moved here and are starting from scratch. You are such an inspiration!!!
I love the idea at the end of this video for a new video listing the time of year and height to prune shrubs back to! That would be soooo helpful. Thanks
It has snowed all night, all day yesterday here in Michigan! I mean, it’s the 18th of March already!! C’mon Mother Nature! We got things to do! Plants, flowers! Etc! Hope everyone is having a great Sunday! 😊♥️
I’m in Phoenix Arizona 9B, and I have to say I never thought I’d want it to hurry up and get warmer! It’s been a chilly and rainy winter. My plants are loving it but I worry it’ll go from the 60’s right to the 90’s 😱
the videos have posted late a couple of times in the past week or so. I think it was just two of them, but they showed up in my subscription feed at 8am instead of 6am
The fabric hoses do great outside. I've had several in multiple place on my property for 4 years. The key to their longevity is not leaving them under pressure when you are done with it - drain the water out. They do not work great with sprinklers but are perfect for watering anything by hand. No issues dragging over rock or around sharper corners.
I love fabric hoses too. They work for outside just fine, but store in a garage during snow season. The reason they don't generally work well with sprinklers is because the hose contracts quickly when the water flow is stopped. The sprinkler will be pulled quickly and may do some damage, so turning off the water may require planning. The manufacturers know about the problem and have tried to solve it. I know one gardener who has found a compatible cloth hose and sprinkler that works and doesn't move when the water stops,. So it's doable, just requires research.
I love Aaron's idea of making a video about how far to cut back plants. I'm scared to cut back any of my plants because I have no idea if you do that to all perennials or just some and how far to cut them back. I was cutting my roses back so low that they would only grow a foot tall and now I'm hesitant too touch them.
On the expanding fabric hose ... You can use them outside. They work great. All you need to make sure you do is not leave if full of water and store it properly in the winter. I have had mine for over 5 yrs and love them. I'm zone 5b and have zero issues pulling them around my front and backyard. Just like anything else if you take care of it properly it will last.
YES! Thank you Aaron, I would love a guide on how far to cut down my perennials. I am always thinking of Laura when I do trimming and questioning if I am doing it correct. If you could hear how many times I tell my husband "No, Laura does it this way!
I would concur that in the past month I am not getting notified of your videos regularly and I have to look for you. I often see the Facebook posts but if you stopped posting there I know I can find you on RU-vid. Happy Spring. We finally had warm weather this weekend in Calgary (62ish). The warm sunshine feels so good.
Important about expandable hoses: do not pull it by the wand! It causes internal separation. Hold the wand in one hand and grab a foot or so farther down the hose with the other hand and pull it out. I use mine outside with no issues but I do bring them in every winter. These hoses are so much lighter than traditional hoses that the extra step of how to hold them when moving them is worth it!
Oh my 2 am! I can barely make it until 9pm. If I sit down, I'm done. I wake up at 4am even though my alarm is set for 5am. We are self employed as well so bravo to you both for doing what you love and provide us all with amazing content to enjoy and learn from! Love watching! Btw, those hoses do hold up quite well outside. I used it in a red quartz rock bed and drug it all over. Got two years of good life out of that house with no leaks. You can find them at any box store as well.
I’ve had 2 outside and each has gotten small holes. They get drug across bark and cement, but it does say to pick them up and not to drag them, so my fault.
I think my daughter has one she uses outside and I am thinking of getting a couple. I have the old stiff kind that I connect to reach all of my half acre and it’s just getting too cumbersome and heavy for me as I get older. Time to go shopping!
I love that Laura calls the next town to the north “Baker” and not “Baker City”. I’m from that area - 3rd generation actually. It has changed between those two names a couple of times (1910 they went from Baker City to Baker. And that’s still how I think if it. Then in 1989 they changed it back to Baker City). It’s a small detail, but one that I notice.
I'm subscribed to a wide array of you tube channels/content, homesteading gardening, knitting, spinning, animal rescue, and mechanical repair. My recommendations change almost daily. If I want to find specifics I scroll down to my subscriptions and select the channel I want to watch. It will highlight the channels with new posts.
RU-vid does hide videos that I always watch. Garden Answer, Gardening with Creekside, Impatient Gardener, FlowerHill Farm, and Mike Kincaid are my must see videos that I use to see in my feed. However, lately I have had to go searching for my favorite RU-vidrs.
We are in the low 20's here in zone 6 and my big patch of white bleeding hearts are gellified😢 my new hellebore is wilted and my new hydrangea is living under a box. Praying for my plants.
Yup! Got the Japanese maple, hostas, wildflower seedlings, kale, lettuce and rapini all huddled in the garage and covered. Hoping my winter sown seedlings in the greenhouse are covered up well enough. Gave the plants all my sheets, towels and rugs so the new growth wouldn't be harmed. 🤭 Looks like I am trying to set up ghosts in my yard for Halloween!
I am in Georgia and my greenhouse is full of seedlings I am trying to keep warm. About 300! Anyway heater is running full out. It's 27 outside and About 46 inside 😮
I would let people know on Facebook that you will not be putting new content on and instead visit you on youtube. Facebook has turned into something else entirely. I got off Facebook and started watching you on RU-vid and am sooo happy I did that! Fans of GA will follow you!💚🙏🏻
In the last few weeks your videos are not appearing on my feed, yet I've watch them every day and have turned on notifications, I just go to your channel and find the latest one and watch from there.
I live in SC. You stated you had never seen a live cardinal. My yard is full of them. I think it would be interesting if you did a video of your bird feeder. It never occurred to me that each state is blessed with different birds. Our cardinals and blue birds I assumed were everywhere and yet I knew better.
The recaps you do are so great! It's wonderful to listen to you and Aaron rehash the week. The relationship you have is awesome and I see and feel the love and respect you have for each other. Was totally entertained by every video this week especially the one with Samantha 'helping mom'. She is a mini Laura and so sweet.
I learn a lot from your videos and you both are excellent presenters and easy to listen to. You incorporate you sponsors so effortlessly and I usually seek out their products. Thanks for your great videos!
‘Joanne’s is my nightmare’ - Aaron Yep my husband feels the same. We decided him not coming in with me is better for both of us. That way we can both enjoy the outing.
Hey guys another great start to a Sunday morning. It's only one in the morning so I haven't even gone to sleep yet, so it'll be a bit before I do anything in the garden. I'm in Hawaii Zone 12, it's mid 80s, very different than what you endure. I especially enjoyed the Samantha Grace helper video this week even though she slowed your progress. My other favorite is the shopping trip with your Mom and sister. I find those so fascinating to watch. On these Sundays it is quite fun to watch the interaction between you two. You make such a solid team. 👏🤩💝
I actually have a collapsable hose that I do use outside. I use it just around my patio, so it is not rough conditions and I do put it in the garage over the winter. I've had my current one 3 years now. There are some that a really cheaper and flimsy and others that are a little thicker. I love mine as well.
I agree about searching for your channel in the morning. I thought maybe it was just my chromebook but apparently not. No reminders either, Boo I agree with Aaron about air plants, they look dead when they are new and look dead when they are dead. I just leave them sit wherever I've put them until I'm tired of looking at them and toss. IMO they are useless plants.
I have been watching GA since the beginning and I have to agree that you do a fantastic job with sponsorships! Thank you for all that you do and have done for all of us! ❤
Always love my quiet time with you guys after the household rush and before work! 🤗 I saw someone ask for an Amazon list. I have seen several content creators use their website to post a link tree with various recommended sites listed in 1 place. I know on your site you have your partners listed. Would you consider maybe a link tree section and be able to reference your own page to get to the link tree? Could be great for generating traffic to your site! 🙌🏼
I LOVE your videos and they are my morning routine! One suggestion: you can get rid of the microphone noise that you are making every time you touch your desk if you get a microphone stand that goes to the floor (and not on your desk). My husband is an audio engineer and wanted to give you this tip! The noise is pretty obvious especially when we are listening from a headset or speakers ;)
I just had to share - I’ve been taking a master gardener class (it’s more like gardening 101) and most of what they teach us I learned from you long ago! Thank you for sharing so much knowledge. We’re absorbing it even when we (I) don’t realize. ❤
I enjoyed my Sunday morning recap video. Thank you for all your hard work. I started watching your videos when you still lived in your townhouse and I plan on watching as long as you make them. Have a blessed day
i've been following you since 2014 first on facebook, and got hooked on succulent instantly....i always like plants, but clueless on how to grow one so, after watching you for years, i kinda knows how to now....thank you for the knowledge you've shared all these years laura.....^^.......and to think we came from different climate even country......it's amazing how you can teach us in such a way.....and i'm in tropical climate btw, indonesia in fact...that's how far your knowledge can reach laura.....amazing really....thank you again.
Thankfully, GA is the first on my feed in the mornings every morning. If something interrupts my reg watching schedule and I can't watch for a few days, the daily video may be pushed down a bit, but otherwise, it's always there. Yeah!
Hey guys, regarding the cloth hose - I've had it for a few years and we use it outside as a regular garden hose. This summer will be the 4th season. I guess it would wear off more if used on pavement and stuff, ours is mostly over grass. It stays outside all summer until water is turned off, then stored in garage.
Hello, Sun Valley, CA here 😊 Love your videos!! I purchased that hose almost about 2yrs ago. It was like my 4th purchase of hoses and finally found that one and love it!! It’s light and doesn’t get tangled like traditional rubber ones. I have a cemented front yard w raised planting beds and I have potted plants around too. It has done quite well w our hot weather here. It stays out all day everyday with only couple hours of filtered shade. Do be very careful if you have any Cati 😮 I have a medium size one and didn’t realize I came too close to it and it punctured it lol. I’ll have to purchase another soon because that lil leak always seems to get me 😅 💧 Take care of your lovely family ❤ 👋 🌻
We use a cloth hose and use it outside. Keep it in the garage. Last a couple of years before we need to replace it. And we have a gravel driveway. Love these hoses! Also I just bought my first heat mat. My husband says “where did you hear about this... my answer “Laura from Garden Answer uses them to do seed starting”
I use only the cloth hoses outdoors in Maui. I cannot carry the regular hoses. I did learn ways to make it last like change the cheap nozzle immediately and leave the new nozzle open to prevent pressure build up.
How cute would it be to occasionally post signs in the south garden with 5 year old appropriate words on them and as you do your nightly family gator tour Benjamin could read them to you.
Greetings, Laura and Aaron, from Windermere Florida zone 9b 🇺🇸 Thanks for visiting ME again 🍩☕️ I thoroughly enjoy hearing you two as I get my Sunday breakfast ready. ❤ We woke up to a chilly 59°F and a few drops of rain 🌧, but clearing should be in the 70's and sunny 🌞 Happy Gardening Everyone 👩🌾👍💗 ❤Peggy❤
I’d like to comment that I appreciate the real time trials of the proven winners new introductions. I garden in Atlanta 7b. I think most gardeners can understand that not every thing you plant in your climate, soil, and latitude will perform identically in another location. You reiterate that local nurseries and garden centers will have done that research for you. I’m a researcher professionally, and we rely on other’s research to advance our own. No one could possibly be an expert in every field. The trick to success is being able to glean useful information from other’s work. As someone else has commented, your promotional content does not feel contrived or unreasonable for a home gardener. Keep up the good work 😊.
My daffodils have already come up and finished blooming. We have had unusual cool wet weather here in California and it was definitely too early for them to do that. I have already started some seeds inside only because I’ve been watching you do the same Laura. Every year I say I’m going to hold back on how much I seed and plant and every year I end up doing more 😂 I just can’t help myself. It’s usually in the middle of summer that I say this but by spring I’m ready to get out there and garden! Also, I always see your video pop up for me. I can’t say the same for every channel I follow.
Laura - I can speak to the fabric hose because I had one last year, and you're right, it was a dream to use. So light and flexible, I loved it! But you are also right about not using it outside because it's just not sturdy enough to take the beating it gets dragging it around. Dang it. I'd love to get a Hoselink but I need a longer hose to get around the house to water. So, yeah, I drag hoses too.
I keep a five gallon bucke with a lid under the faucet and put the hose in it. I have 3 faucets on house, so I don't have to drag hoses too far. I can reach all points on my acre lot with a hose. I would not like to go back to a regular hose ever!
For FB and You Tube, I definitely have trouble getting notifications. Several years ago, you did a video on adding gypsum to clay soil. I got hit with warnings when I replied with a general thank you because I've got a mix of clay. It was silly. I tried to reword it and then they accused me of being a spammer. I'm on different garden pages but y'alls page is my favorite. On the flipside, Facebook is where I like to watch it while sitting drinking morning coffee and it's just an easier to scroll and have the notifications, if they didn't mess with things. Y'all can't control that. If you go missing for a few days, then I go directly to your page.......Anyways, thanks for the videos and look forward to them however I have to find them.
