I’m a mental health counselor. Many of my clients and patients are Gen Z. I have come to see a common pattern as to why they don’t want to drive. I haven’t seen that study, but I can give you a perspective from what I have experienced in my field the last 5 years. It’s not about driving, is about making decisions. Taking responsibility. But it’s even deeper than that. What I have seen is that there is a generational difference in values and beliefs. It’s all about the parenting and relationships with their caretakers. Lack of Decisions and responsibilities teaching leads to lack of driving, not work, not know about the future../ which leads to anxiety and depression. If that makes sense. There is so much to unpack. This is just a very condensed summary.
@@Chesterchurch I don’t know what’s going on with the other ppl on this comment, but as a woman I don’t think you’ve done anything wrong by declaring she is beautiful, because she is, inside and out by the looks of it.
@Robert Stephenson your sorely mistaken. Jesus is Yahweh, so is the Father and the Spirit. You must not have a very good understanding of the doctrine of the Trinity. Are you familiar with the doctrine of the hypostatic Union? And or the communicato-idiumatum?
This gem is demonstrably wrong. You might like it but it's not smart at all. There are a lot of truth talking people that are loved and a lot of false talking people that are being hate. Stop victimizing yourselfs. You are not special.
@@deryk2002au there is no one person who is loved by all no matter what he says. You can't find a person that speaks lies and is loved by all nor the opposite. So what is the gem about?!
@@royishtainberg You're probably not connecting with the fact that "the world" as defined by the Christian religion is anyone who engages in a non-Christian lifestyle. So, if you're a Christian, and you're loved by the side that is against you because of your beliefs, then it's likely that you are not walking in your beliefs.
Wow she's on fire. What an excellent speaker and personality. It's actually sad how you take a smart, logical, strongly convicted leader of a young woman like this who could likely earn her own way to being the first female president of the US but because she's on the wrong political / ideological side of the aisle, she'd never get the mainstream medias endorsement. In glad to have found this. Turning point has a real asset in her.
God bless her she touch my heart especially when talking about christian value I wish I meet her and thank her enough because this is the core element we lost in recent years
I am Gen X who sought a career and didn't have a child until my Mid 30's. My child is Gen Z. She is tough, confident, so intelligent and walks with God. This is Gen X righting the wrong when we looked away for a minute. GOD WINS!
I define "woke" as the abdication of any personal responsibility or accountability in personal success or failure, in favor of perpetual victimhood. People perceive barriers (color, biological, or cultural differences) and accept their plight, instead of dismissing or trying to overcome them.
That definition and her definition is not at all correct. In fact, she twists the topic by claiming it is the exact opposite of what it is. Woke means being aware of the injustices in society.
@@rg7454 the problem comes from people inventing injustice where it isn't. Calling out injustice is aware. Pretending there's injustice, where there isn't, is woke.
@@stevedem76 There is a lot of injustice in today's world, so I can't imagine what you think is "pretending." Woke was originally used by the Black community to refer to racial injustice. Racial injustice definitely exists. Do you feel you have the same opportunities as billionaires? Then economic injustices exist. Assuming you are a man, do you have the government making medical decisions for you? But women do, so injustice targeting women's rights exists. I could go on and on. Injustice exists, Steve. Just because you don't feel it, don't tell someone else that they are "pretending"
@@stevedem76 >> Pretending there's injustice, where there isn't, is woke. A white supremacist wielding a legal AR-15 covered in swastikas recently killed three Black people at a dollar store.
Im old and try to understand why your generation feels it necessary to walk around with your little dumb phones 24/7. You wont miss a thing if you leave those things at home. You wont miss anything.
Too many of ALL generations are doing this! It is very sad! It is alluring and addictive. Speaking to people can be frustrating, but we must try to do it everyday. 😊
I'm old, and I must admit my phone is a valuable tool at work. I use it for GPS, receiving work orders, scheduling, keeping a photo record of my completed jobs. But I do notice the young guys at work treat their phone like it's an umbilical cord. It's in their face constantly. They're checking notifications for unimportant apps and social media, even while their using GPS and driving.
@@stevedem76 I've decided to go back to the old flip phone. I'm retired and have maps and actually never use apps for directions. Flip phone can also be used to take pictures.
Wow! My first time hearing this very impressive young lady speak but certainly won't be my last. I can't express how ENCOURAGING it is to find that more and more younger citizens are refusing the blinders that public and secondary educators are trying so hard to install on today's young adults. Smart, perceptive young people (those who can see how manipulative, evil and crafty public education has become) are analyzing what's being presented to them as "education, social justice and facts" and realizing that it doesn't pass the smell test. Not even close. There was a reason why, when I was a child (many years ago now!) we all read books like The Emperor's New Clothes, Little Red Riding Hood and The Little Red Hen. These were fun books to read but more than that, they were instilling in us (although unknown to us at that time) moral and ethical scenarios and how to effectively deal with them so that we would not be fooled when this manipulation was so craftily administered to us. We were taught from early on through books like these and other practical education and lessons from our parents, how to recognize and work through pivotal challenges when we were exposed to them later in life. I'm so uplifted by young people like Charlie Kirk, Candace Owens, Isabel Brown and Turning Point USA and the obvious real progress that they are making in reaching young people today. It gives me hope that our country might yet be saved from the collision course it's on right now under "Progressive" leadership that is anything but Progressive.
They don't want their license cause they're lazy and they expect people to do everything for them and drive them around. Is they are out of touch with reality
Keep in mind, there's a social contagion starring those who can rack up points in today's victim Olympics by claiming varying forms of gender nonconforming bullocks. Trends are powerful.
Women droning on gets on my nerves something fierce after a while. But I could listen to her speak all day long. She is so well articulated and her answers are concise and meaningful. Well done Isabel......
@@wiseguy9202 - I can thank the past generations for using discipline, keeping the family together and putting God first. This is owned on a individual basis, right nor wrong hasn’t changed it’s the interpretation that has. The truth is the truth.
I come from the last year for Gen X and I know personally of 7 highschool friends who killed themselves. 2 who failed at the attempt. 5 who overdosed. 2 who died in vehicular accidents, one being my mom last August in a head on collision, one being my cousin who was hit by a train. And then there's my brother who was hit by a drunk driver and sent approximately 80 feet down the highway, landing on the opposite side slumped over the guide rail and was very lucky to survive. This is just off the top of my head. I'm sure if I thought about it further I know even more. To hear that these kinds of stats have only risen is tragic.
This young woman appears to be authentic. I do not share all of her beliefs, yet I respect her being true to her beliefs. This is imperative in connecting with people. I have found it imperative to embrace the here and now. In doing this we learn how to be present. Some people are able to find fulfillment through this approach, and live a meaningful life. Thanks for your time. Take care.
One point of contention..... In reality, Gen Z is a very head empty generation that is willing to give up their independence to elected authoritarians.
It’s interesting that you said, Gen z is head strong and independent when most GenZ that I know are very dependent and not headstrong. And yes, I noticed that they don’t want to drive and they don’t care to get their license and or somebody has to help them through the whole process . Millennials would break through and do things on their own for the most part and GenZ would prefer for others to do things for them
I hope you do know that you don't necessarily have to be registered as an independent in order to be a free thinker and in fact being registered as an independent keeps you from voting in the midterms.
Her speech was sarcasm at its best. She called everything the opposite. Drivers license = freedom. Actually, it means being saddled with a depreciating asset and bills for repairs, gas, insurance, etc. Woke = closing your eyes and burying your head in the sand. Actually it means opening your eyes and being aware/awake.
I think anxiety has a lot to do with having things. I know personally that when I have things and don't need to stay busy and work really hard just to be able to live. For me anyway
Her that asked about the willow project is an awesome girl and I hope shes ok in life and I hope she finds a family of friends. The reason I say this is she reminds me of my sister and she couldn't go on when her friends ignored her 😢 I'm not gonna say what happened but I'll hope she's gonna be okay and go's on with and enjoys her life x
My daughter is Gen z and she had her liscence the day she turned 16 and bought her own car like 8 months later. She worked and saved her money. She's anxious so was I as a teen that doesn't mean u give up
Depreciating asset and a waste of money. Now she’s supporting the corporate oligarchy by buying gas and paying insurance. Plus, destroying the environment.
After growing through public school and doing stuff that's "anxiety stuff" (just learning now lol) like driving. I honestly believe that gen z anxiety is all in their heads and the lack of parenting support.
Head strong and independent. Whatttt. They fall apart with every mean word. This generation stays home longer then any other generation. They are lazy asf. I'm blown away They think that about themselves
as someone who is Gen Z I don't drive because where I live I simply cannot afford the upkeep for a car. Plus where I live is a small town and I work here and the bus gets me everywhere else I very rarely go anyway so never bothered me. I also have a fear of driving cars because I have lost 2 people close to me in my life in car related incidents and nearly got into one myself. I did try to learn but was quickly put off especially since I nearly crashed into somebodies house in a panic. Funny thing is though I am fine on bikes. So maybe I will get my licence for that one day but cars are a no go Also if you see the drivers where I live there is almost an accident every day here because they are morons when it comes to driving cars. Id rather not be on the same path as them.
my mom grew up in the late 50's in New Zealand where driving age was 21. I did not get my license until I was twenty back in 1984. I walked to college and work until I bought a clunker... It was about economics... not anxiety
Gen Z has been called the 'most depressed generation' with the least positive outlook and diminished emotional and social well-being. They have more unmet social needs than any other generation. The statistics for their behavioural-health issues - mental and substance disorders - are alarming.
Very well spoken young woman. Took everything in stride. I hope there are many more young people with her views. Maybe we won’t be doomed to this growing ridiculousness that has been going on.
How is it supposed to help me feel better that I'm not alone and not the only one with a problem? I still have a problem I can't handle whether I'm the only one or not.
My kids weren’t interested in driving. They drive now but were all 17 before the got their license. Doctors and others say it has to do with social media.
"Headstrong, independent generation" you forgot lost, confused, detached, emotionally immature, fragile. Gen Z are basically glass cannons. And you can't understand why they wouldn't want to drive??
I agree with the independent characterization; however, those who choose to be independent must be open to listening to ALL debates on both sides in order to feel confident in their voting choices. Social media platforms are the WORST places to gain perspectives. It should be a very private, thorough, and personal journey. Publicizing thoughts only leave you open to hostility/bullying from those with other perspectives. Your vote is what will dictate the future of this great country. God bless!!
She is well spoken but is a right wing feminist. Her comments on the whatever podcast should give any man pause to marry her. Those comments were insulting to men big time.
Why would a man want to pause to marry a right wing woman. She knows what a real man needs, wants, what she wants, her morals and values that real men prefer.....so sorry if I don't understand why a man would run.
Check out the clip on whatever podcast from a month ago. Her comments showed her true colors about male- female relations. Basically female dominance in the relationship.
I don’t understand the fear of driving? Do you not like having the freedom to go where you want when you want? This generation is softer than quilted northern
My son wasn’t excited about driving because he’s a gamer and his friends were online. Also he is the oldest and knew we’d ask him to drive people places.
If you have anxiety, don't go to a Psychologist. Just look what they do to Transgenders. I am sure 18 years old kids had anxiety about going to the Pacific during WWII. I had anxiety about things not very big when I was a kid. I finally figured out that we just need to get over it. I wish you well.
They grew up with super computers in their pockets That’s why they don’t want to drive. You can communicate and do most all activities without the effort. In years past you had to see people, places and things in person.
I know two gen z people, one don't want to drive because of severe anxiety but still had her license and drives short distances she knows. The other is straight ass lazy and didn't want to be accountable and if she doesn't have a car she thinks she needs to have a job and can call it a disability to get benefits
They don't want to drive because they don't want all the responsibilities that COME with owning a vehicle. Just like they still live in their mom's basement because they don't want to pay monthly rent. They certainly don't want a car payment
